Hamilton Police are looking for a 39-year-old fugitive, Angele Jovanovski.

As a result of a criminal investigation in Hamilton dating back to Sunday, May 15, 2022. Jovanovski is wanted for multiple charges including the following;

• One count of Fail to Comply
• One count of Fail to Attend Court
• Two counts of Assault Level Two
• Two counts of Utter Threat to Cause Death
• Two counts of Assault Level One
• Distribute Intimate Images without Consent

JOVANOVSKI is believed to be in the Hamilton area. If he is observed, police ask that members of the public call 9-1-1, do not approach.

If you have any information that you believe could assist police in locating Angele Jovanovski, you are asked to contact the Fugitive Apprehension Unit by calling 905-540-6431.

As the community prepares to “fall back” and set our clocks back one hour to mark the end of Daylight Savings Time, the Hamilton Police Service is urging all residents to be vigilant and exercise extra caution on our roadways.

The annual transition back from Daylight Savings Time, which occurs on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at 1:00 a.m., brings several safety challenges as our days are shorter and our schedules shift. 

Hamilton Police want to remind residents of some key traffic safety tips to ensure a smooth and secure transition.

1. Adjust to the Time Change:
- Adjusting to the change can affect your alertness and reaction time while driving. Be sure to get a good night's rest and give yourself extra time to adapt to the time change.

2. Check Your Vehicle:
- Before heading out, make sure your vehicle is in proper working condition. This includes checking your tires, brakes, lights, and signals. It is also essential to ensure your windshield and mirrors are clean. It's also that time of year to make sure your vehicle is equipped with a snow brush once again.

3. Be Mindful of Pedestrians and Bicyclists:
- With less daylight in the evenings, there will be reduced visibility. Drivers should pay extra attention to crosswalks and shared bike lanes.

4. Watch for Children and School Zones:
- Be especially cautious in school zones and residential areas as light is reduced.

5. Avoid Distractions:
- Distracted driving is a significant risk on the road. Put away your cell phone and avoid other distractions while driving.

6. Obey Speed Limits:
- Speed limits are set for a reason. They reflect the safest speeds for specific road conditions. Always follow posted speed limits and adjust your speed to the conditions.

7. Use Proper Lighting:
- Ensure your vehicle's headlights and taillights are working correctly. Be sure to use your headlights when required, such as during dawn and dusk, and in inclement weather.

8. Don't Drive Impaired:
- Always designate a sober driver if you plan to consume alcohol or drugs. Impaired driving is illegal and poses a severe risk to you and others on the road.

As we turn our clocks back this weekend, the Hamilton Police Service encourages all residents to practice these safety measures to keep our roads safe during Daylight Savings Time.

Hamilton Police have appointed Constable Stacey Hill as the Service’s first Indigenous Liaison Officer. The position will play an important role in bridging the relationship between policing and Indigenous communities.

Constable Hill is in her 26^th year of policing and grew up on the New Credit Reserve but has both Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee blood. In addition to connecting police and Indigenous communities, Hill will also work closely with Hamilton’s newly formed Indigenous Consultation Circle to assist Indigenous people navigate interactions with police.

“This position has been a long time coming. Throughout my career, I did much of this work off the side of my desk, so I am happy to see a formalized position finally come to fruition. This role is needed and I am excited to be able to take it on,” said Hill.

Indigenous advocates and leaders in Hamilton have been advocating for an Indigenous Liaison Officer for over 20 years.

“We would like to thank the Indigenous community for their willingness to work with us and guide us. We are well served with Constable Stacey Hill in this role for our organization. We look forward to embarking on this journey together,” said Chief Frank Bergen.

Members of the Hamilton Urban Indigenous Community held a traditional Welcoming Ceremony for Constable Hill at Pier 4 Park earlier today. The event included Indigenous leaders from across Hamilton as well as Hamilton Police Service members.

This is the second liaison position created within Hamilton Police Service. Sergeant Rebecca Moran was appointed as the first 2S&LGBTQIA Liaison officer in February 2020. The liaison positions play a vital role in strengthening relationships with marginalized communities.
