On Sunday August 23, 2026 at approximately 6:36pm, officers responded to a shots fired call at an address on Mud Street East. Upon arrival, officers observed several individuals fleeing the area on foot. Police quickly secured the scene and arrested multiple individuals.

As the investigation progressed, officers located and seized five firearms from the property, including an SKS rifle and a shotgun. Several individuals were taken into custody and later released pending further investigation.

At this time, there is no information to suggest the gunfire was directed at any person or residence.

The incident occurred on July 16, 2026, at approximately 7:50 a.m., after the victim exited an HSR bus. Police allege that an unknown male approached the victim and sexually assaulted her.

• Short, dark hair

On Thursday, July 23, 2026, at approximately 4:50 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance at West Harbour GO Station, located at 353 James Street North. Initial reports indicated that a male had been involved in a physical altercation and was bleeding.

Officers located the victim, a 22-year-old from Hamilton, who was transported to hospital with a non-life-threatening stab wound.

The investigation has determined that the altercation began after an unknown male started going through the victim's belongings and ignored repeated requests to leave. The suspect then assaulted the victim while armed with an edged weapon, causing the victim's injury before fleeing the area.

The suspect is described as:

• Male
• Light-skinned
• Approximately 30 years old
• Approximately 5'9" tall
• Balding hairline with a dark beard
• Wearing a green tank top, light-coloured shorts, and dark sunglasses

On Sunday, July 19, 2026, an unknown individual attended the organization's property and threw a bottle containing white paint at the building. The incident resulted in paint splattering several areas of the overhead signage and the main entrance.

The investigation was led by the Hamilton Police Hate Crime Unit. As a result, a 51-year-old Hamilton man has been arrested and charged with one count of Mischief Under $5,000.

The Hamilton Police Service recognizes the significant impact that hate-related incidents have on victims and the broader community. Allegations that a criminal offence was motivated by bias, prejudice, or hate are thoroughly investigated and, where appropriate, presented to the courts as an aggravating factor at sentencing.

On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at approximately 1:40 a.m., a Hamilton Police officer observed a U-Haul truck in the area of Main Street East and Glendale Avenue. Due to the time of day and the circumstances, the officer conducted a licence plate query, which revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen from the Halton Region.

As patrol officers responded to the area, the occupant put the vehicle into motion, nearly striking an officer. During the incident, the U-Haul collided with three marked Hamilton Police cruisers before crashing into a nearby residence. The vehicle came to rest after striking the building's exterior fire escape staircase.

The driver, a 54-year-old male with no fixed address, was safely taken into custody and arrested. He was charged with the following offences:

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
• Dangerous Operation
• Assaulting a Peace Officer with a Weapon
• Operation While Prohibited

In December 2025, the Hamilton Police Service Crimes Against Seniors Unit launched an investigation into an alleged romance fraud involving a 75-year-old Hamilton man.

The investigation revealed that the victim met and developed a relationship with a woman in March 2025. Over the following months, the woman allegedly convinced the victim to provide approximately $20,000 after claiming she needed financial assistance to cover her parents' funeral expenses, assuring him the money would be repaid. Police allege the funds were obtained through deception.

On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, members of the Hamilton Police Service Crimes Against Seniors Unit arrested Vicky Medalla, 58, of Niagara Falls. She has been charged with Fraud Over $5,000.

At the time of her arrest, Medalla was already on two separate forms of judicial release in connection with similar alleged offences in Kitchener and Hamilton. As a result of the repeated nature of the alleged offences, Hamilton Police opposed her release on bail.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims.

On July 23, 2026, at approximately 11:55p.m., Hamilton Police were proactively patrolling the area of Upper Horning Road when a stolen black Honda Civic vehicle was spotted. A traffic stop was attempted; however, the vehicle attempted to flee, striking a marked Police cruiser in the process.

The two occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot while officers gave chase. Both were taken into police custody and one of the males suffered an injury. As a result, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) has invoked their mandate.

During a search of the vehicle, officers located a Molotov cocktail. The device was seized and the vehicle was towed for further examination.

A 17-year-old male youth from York and a 22-year-old male from Brampton will now go before the courts to face the following charges:

·         Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000.00

·         Flight from Police Officer

·         Possession of Incendiary Material

·         Possession Contrary to Order

On July 21, 2026, at approximately 07:50a.m., Hamilton Police Division 20 patrol officers were dispatched to the area of Highway 8 and King Street East after reports of an abandoned vehicle blocking a live lane of traffic. Officers located an unoccupied black Ford Explorer with its hazard lights activated.

Further investigation determined the vehicle had been reported stolen from the Halton Region earlier this month.

While examining the vehicle, officers located what initially appeared to be an ordinary receipt from a local fast-food restaurant. Investigators determined the receipt contained the date and time of a purchase, providing a valuable investigative lead.

Officers attended the restaurant and reviewed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the corresponding transaction. A male youth was observed in the footage and was recognized by investigating officers.

Police subsequently attended the 16-year-old male's residence, where he was arrested and charged with:

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
• Failure to Comply with a Youth Sentence Order

On July 15, 2026, members of the Hamilton Police Service BEAR Unit responded to the area of John Willson Park in Stoney Creek after receiving a report of a stolen pickup truck.

With assistance from members of the public, officers obtained a description of the suspect. A short time later, the suspect was located in the area entering a second vehicle and driving away.

Officers maintained surveillance on the vehicle until it stopped at a gas station near Arvin Road to refuel. Members of the BEAR Unit moved in and safely arrested the suspect without incident.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a loaded handgun and approximately 40 grams of suspected fentanyl. Officers also located additional items consistent with drug trafficking.

As a result of the investigation, 37-year-old Stephen Maisonville of Hamiton has been charged with multiple offences, including:

• Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
• Theft of a motor vehicle
• Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
• Failure to comply with a sentencing order

On July 15, 2026, at approximately 7:00p.m., Division 10 Patrol officers were dispatched to a parking lot near John Street South and Jackson Street West after receiving a report of a pickup truck occupied by three individuals who appeared to be intoxicated and asleep.

Upon arrival, officers strategically positioned their patrol vehicles to prevent the truck from being driven. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed suspected drugs in plain view. All three occupants were subsequently arrested.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 32 grams of fentanyl, a quantity of Canadian currency believed to be proceeds of crime, and a loaded Glock handgun.

The accused include:

• A 37-year-old Flamborough man
• A 19-year-old man with no fixed address
• A 36-year-old Burlington woman

The accused collectively face a number of Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act charges, including but not limited to:

• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Operation While Prohibited
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
• Fail to Comply with an Undertaking
• Fail to Comply with a Probation Order

Shortly after receiving reports of multiple stabbings near the intersection of MacNab Street and King Street, officers quickly attended the area and located four victims suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. The victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

As officers secured the scene and launched their investigation, a 43-year-old Hamilton man was located nearby and taken into custody without incident.

Moments after that arrest, Hamilton Police received a report of a male brandishing a firearm inside a business on King Street. Officers immediately pivoted from the stabbing investigation, redirecting available resources to the unfolding firearms call.

The victim was not physically injured and was able to provide responding officers with a detailed description of the suspect. Within minutes, officers located and arrested a 21-year-old Hamilton man. During the arrest, officers seized a fully loaded firearm.

Through coordinated teamwork between the Emergency Response Team, CORE Patrol and frontline members, both suspects were taken into custody quickly, preventing any further risk to the community.

The accused had been employed as a support worker providing care to the 76-year-old victim. It is alleged that, over a two-year period, the accused unlawfully accessed the victim's bank account and withdrew funds without authorization, resulting in a total financial loss of $6,600.

On June 25, 2026, investigators arrested Carla Grandin, a 52-year-old female of Hamilton, and charged her with the following:

• Fraud Over $5,000
• Unauthorized Possession of a Credit Card
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

 She has been released from custody on an Undertaking with a future court appearance.

On Sunday, June 21, 2026, at approximately 9:35 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a parking lot in the area of Upper Wellington Street and Concession Street for reports of an assault.

Police learned that a female victim had been involved in a verbal dispute with two females over a parking issue. The interaction escalated, and the victim was physically assaulted. During the assault, the victim was allegedly punched, pulled to the ground, and dragged by her hair while the suspects uttered racial slurs at the victim.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Hamilton Paramedics were notified; however, the victim declined transportation to hospital.

The suspects fled the area in a white Lexus SUV prior to police arrival.

Through continued investigation, including assistance from the Hamilton Police Hate Crime Unit, investigators were able to identify both suspects involved.

A Ford Edge SUV was exiting the parking lot of the Tim Hortons Plaza onto King Street East, travelling westbound, when it lost control and struck a 54-year-old male that was waiting in the bus shelter for the bus.

The male was transported to hospital, with serious life altering injuries.  The female driver of the Ford Edge was not injured. 

All investigative avenues are being considered at this time.

On Thursday, May 28, 2026, at approximately 1:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Garth Street near the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway (LINC) following a two-vehicle collision. After the collision, five male occupants of the involved black Honda Accord exited the vehicle and fled on foot. A witness claimed that one of the males was holding a handgun while running.

An off-duty Hamilton Police officer who witnessed the incident immediately intervened and successfully apprehended two of the fleeing individuals. The officer placed both under arrest as responding patrol officers arrived on scene. A can of bear spray was located in their possession.

A short time later, officers located and arrested a third suspect who was attempting to hide on a nearby property.

Police continue to search for the two outstanding suspects, and no firearm has been recovered.

The arrested individuals will go before the courts for the following charges:

• A 19-year-old Hamilton man - Occupant of Motor Vehicle Without Consent
• A 17-year-old Hamilton youth - Occupant of Motor Vehicle Without Consent, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

On Friday May 29, 2026 at approximately 08:00a.m., Hamilton Police learned of a body in the water near Wilcox Street North. The circumstances have been deemed suspicious, and the Homicide Unit has taken carriage of the investigation.

Shortly after 10:00p.m., Police received a report of a stabbing that occurred at a residence in the area of Francis Street and Douglas Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 31-year-old male from Hamilton, suffering from a stab wound. They were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accused was located on scene and charged with aggravated assault.

As a precaution, school officials initiated an evacuation plan, and approximately 500 students and staff were safely relocated to a nearby secondary school. Officers conducted a thorough search of the school and surrounding property. No explosive devices or suspicious items were located.

The school was cleared, and students were safely dismissed from the alternate location.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Division continued the investigation and identified a suspect in connection with the threat. A 13-year-old Hamilton youth has been charged with:

• Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm

The accused cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The Hamilton Police Service is actively searching for a wanted party who escaped police custody in the area of Main Street East and Grant Avenue in Central Hamilton.

On Thursday April 23, 2026 at approximately 1:00 AM, Hamilton Police were conducting an investigation at which time, 18-year-old Sultan Aldarwish was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant for Fail to Comply Release Order stemming from shoplifting offences. Sultan Aldarwish was also under arrest for new charges for Fail to Comply Release Order. Sultan Aldarwish was handcuffed when he escaped Police custody.

Hamilton Police mobilized numerous officers and a K9 Unit to search the area. The last confirmed location for Sultan Aldarwish was in the area of Barton Street East and Leeming Street.

Sultan Aldarwish is described as:

• Middle Eastern

• 6’1”

• 168 lbs

• brown eyes

• long black curly hair

• small goatee and thin moustache

• wearing a black Moose Knuckle jacket, black short, and black shoes

Dorota had been reported missing from her Wood Street East home on the morning of January 13, 2026. Hamilton Police, alongside her family and community members, conducted extensive search efforts in the weeks that followed; however, she was not located at that time.

Foul play is not suspected in her death. Hamilton Police extend their sincere thanks to all those who assisted in the search efforts and offer their condolences to Dorota’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Hamilton Police have arrested a male youth in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in the city’s downtown core.

On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m., a victim was walking in the area of John Street North and Barton Street East when he was approached by a group of three male youths. During the interaction, one of the youths engaged the victim in conversation about his jacket before demanding that he hand it over. When the victim refused, the suspect produced what appeared to be a black firearm from a satchel.

Fearing for his safety, the victim complied and surrendered his jacket. The suspects then fled the area.

Responding officers quickly saturated the surrounding area and located one of the suspects shortly after the incident. A 15-year-old male was taken into custody without incident. A search incident to arrest resulted in the recovery of the stolen jacket and a realistic-looking black BB gun.

The accused has been charged with Robbery with a Firearm and is scheduled to appear in court.

Investigators are continuing efforts to identify and locate the two outstanding suspects.

On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at approximately 3:30 a.m., police were called to the area of King Street and Victoria Avenue North following reports of a stabbing. Initial information indicated that a male had been injured and that the suspect remained in the vicinity.

Officers arrived on scene and located a 26-year-old male suffering from a stab wound to his torso. Police immediately provided first aid before the victim was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was located within minutes and taken into custody without incident.

The accused has been charged with:

• Assault with a Weapon
• Aggravated Assault

On March 21, 2026, police were called to a section of the rail trail near Lynden Road following a report of a male committing an indecent act. The victim reported that while walking along the trail, she observed a male standing approximately 100 metres away with his pants partially lowered, masturbating while staring in her direction.

On March 25, 2026, police received a second report of a similar incident on the trail. In this case, the victim observed a male nearby engaging in the same indecent act. Officers attended the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

In both incidents, the suspect is described as a white male wearing a black hoodie and white shoes.

Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues.

On March 22, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m., police were called to a residence in east Hamilton for a reported robbery. A husband and wife had arranged the sale of an iPhone through Facebook Marketplace and agreed to meet the buyer at their home.

Upon arrival, the buyer was accompanied by two additional individuals. The couple observed that the group appeared uneasy. While one individual inspected the phone, the suspects suddenly fled the area on foot with the device. The husband pursued them, but the chase ended when he was sprayed with bear spray.

This incident marks the 14th marketplace-related robbery in Hamilton so far this year, with iPhones being the most commonly targeted item.

Hamilton Police have arrested a man after he was observed possessing and consuming illegal drugs in public.

On March 21, 2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a pair of Hamilton Police officers conducting proactive patrols in the area of King Street West and West Avenue observed a group of individuals behaving suspiciously.

While monitoring the group, the officers witnessed one individual consuming illegal drugs using a glass pipe. As a result of these observations, the officers approached and arrested the 41-year-old Hamilton man.

A subsequent search incident to arrest resulted in the seizure of a quantity of illegal drugs and related paraphernalia, including:

• 227 Dilaudid pills
• 8.16 grams of fentanyl
• 2.5 grams of methamphetamine
• A digital scale with drug residue
• Two cellular phones

The accused has been charged with:

• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x4
• Possession of Proceeds of Crime
• Fail to Comply with a Probation Order

On February 10, 2026 at approximately 3:00a.m., Police were called to a residence in the area of Concession 10 East and Milburough Town Line for a report of a shooting. 

No one was injured and investigators believe that the shooter fled in an SUV style vehicle westbound on Concession 10 East toward Centre Road. 

At this time, there is limited information to provide, however Police believe that this was a targeted shooting. 

We are asking any residents with dash cameras or surveillance cameras in the area of Concession 10 East between Milburough Town Line and Highway 6 to check for any suspicious activity or vehicles between the hours of 2:50 am and 3:15 am.

The 70-year-old female pedestrian who sustained life-threatening injuries has since succumbed to her injuries. Police are not identifying the deceased at this time.

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The Hamilton Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

On February 4, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Hamilton Police officers were conducting proactive patrols of jewelry stores within the mall. During this time, four individuals entered the mall with their faces covered and were armed with a sledgehammer and crowbars.

As the suspects made their way toward one of the stores, they observed mall security and police officers in the area. The group then fled the mall and returned to a waiting vehicle driven by a fifth individual. The suspects were last seen leaving the area in a black sedan.

Investigators are continuing to work on obtaining detailed descriptions of the suspects. Police are concerned the group may attempt to target another business, as this attempt was unsuccessful.

Store owners and members of the public are reminded to remain aware of their surroundings and to contact police if any suspicious activity is observed.

Between the years of 2021 and 2023, the accused is alleged to have embezzled approximately $72,000 from a fundraising account belonging to Rygiel Supports for Community Living.

As a result of the investigation, Viola Galamini, 56, of Hamilton, was arrested on January 22, 2026. She has been charged with the following offences:

• Fraud Over $5,000
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
• Use of a Forged Document

Galamini was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in April 2026.

On January 20, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., officers were called to a building in the area of King Street West after security guards located an unconscious male suffering from head injuries. Paramedic services attended the scene and transported the 67-year-old victim to hospital, where he was intubated and remains in critical condition.

Through investigation, officers determined that the victim was unexpectedly struck with a closed fist by a 48-year-old male who is known to police. As a result of the assault, the victim fell to the ground and remained unconscious.

The accused was located in the immediate area and taken into custody without incident.

He has been charged with the following offences and was held for a bail hearing:

• Aggravated Assault
• Fail to Comply with Probation x8

On October 25, 2025, at approximately 9:40 p.m. a 21-year-old female victim was walking across the parking lot at an Ancaster retail plaza.  Without provocation, a silver sedan approached the victim, and an occupant of the vehicle threw a beverage cup at her, striking her in the face. During the assault, the accused made racist remarks toward the victim and threatened her.

 The victim ran from the area and hid to get away from the occupants of the vehicle. Police were called and began an investigation.

 Investigators later identified the driver and front-seat passenger of the vehicle involved. Two 17-year-olds have now been arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats to cause death.

 Hamilton Police have determined the incident was racially motivated. If the accused are convicted, police will ask the court to consider the hate-motivation sentencing provision under section 718.2(a)(i) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Hamilton Police have arrested a 54-year-old male from Hamilton for trafficking crystal methamphetamine.

In the early hours of January 9. 2026, a patrol officer from the mountain division spotted a vehicle that had been used in a previous criminal occurrence. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Upper Wentworth Street and discovered evidence of drug possession resting in plain view within the vehicle.

The driver was arrested for drug possession; however, the situation changed after the routine search revealed evidence of drug trafficking including, but not limited to the following items:

• 60 grams of crystal methamphetamine
• Two working scales
• Dime bags with cocaine and more crystal methamphetamine
• Canadian currency

The accused now faces drug trafficking charges and will be held for a bail hearing.

On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at approximately 9:55 p.m., police were called to a parking lot located at 160 Main Street West, near Caroline Street South, following reports of gunfire.

Investigators determined that two vehicles entered the parking lot and circled the area. It is believed that one vehicle discharged a firearm at the other before both vehicles fled the scene. Officers located spent bullet casings, and the area was secured for further investigation.

At this time, no injuries have been reported, no damage has been identified, and no victim or intended target has come forward. Detectives are urging the intended target, or anyone with direct knowledge of this incident, to contact police.

Police are seeking to identify two suspect vehicles, described as one SUV and one sedan, which were observed leaving the area following the shooting.

On Thursday December 18, 2025 at approximately 4:00 a.m., Police were called to the area of Melvin Avenue for a report of gunshots. Witnesses stated that several loud bangs were heard, but no exact location was given. Officers flooded the area and located multiple bullet casings on a foot path near Melvin Avenue and Talbot Street. 

At the time of this writing, upwards of twenty casings have been discovered. Of note, the casings are from two separate bullet types. No injuries have been reported, and no damage has been found.

Police are asking homeowners and drivers in the area to please check any CCTV or dashcam footage between the hours of 3:30a.m. and 4:30a.m. for anything suspicious.

The charges result from Project Long Haul, an investigation led by the Hamilton Police Service Break, Enter, Auto Theft and Robbery (BEAR) Unit into the theft of commercial transport trucks. Between January and May 2025, the accused is alleged to have participated in multiple thefts and attempted thefts of Freightliner transport trucks from secured trucking facilities. The total value of the stolen vehicles exceeds $1 million.

The accused is charged under several occurrences with the following offences:

• Break and Enter (Commit / Intent)

• Vehicle Theft and Attempted Vehicle Theft

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

• Fail to Comply with Release Order

The accused is alleged to be a member of an organized criminal group involved in transport truck thefts throughout Southern Ontario. He currently has multiple matters before the courts.

Hamilton Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects from the City's most recent distraction theft.

On Monday December 8, 2025, officers were called to the area of Queenston Road and Nash Road for a report of jewellery theft. An 89-year-old woman was loading groceries in a nearby parking lot when she was approached by a male and female in a newer-model, black Mazda SUV.

The pair engaged with the victim and questioned her on her ethnicity. They took turns placing jewellery on her and even leaned in for a hug. Once the victim arrived home, she noticed that her own jewellery had been removed.

Police are asking anyone who may have been driving on Queenston Road between Centennial Parkway and the Red Hill Valley Parkway between the hours of 1:10 p.m. to 1:25 p.m. to please check their dashcams for the black Mazda SUV.

Hamilton Police have arrested five individuals after a series of break and enters at jewellery store in Hamilton and across Ontario.

On November 17, 2025, Ancaster Jewellers was the victim of a break and enter in which more than $60,000 in merchandise was stolen.

Investigators determined that the group would pose as customers to scout jewellery stores in advance. The break and enters typically occurred overnight, with suspects using a crowbar to pry open doors and gain entry. While one suspect waited in a minivan used as the getaway vehicle, four to five others would enter the store and steal high-end watches, jewellery, and repair tools. Police believe the group targeted the same businesses multiple times, sometimes months apart.

Hamilton Police investigators identified an organized criminal group believed to be responsible for a series of jewellery store break and enters as part of an investigation dubbed Project Crowbar.

On December 12, 2025, members of the Hamilton Police Service Break Enter Auto Theft and Robbery (BEAR) Unit, with assistance from the Major Drugs and Major Gangs Units, executed two search warrants at Hamilton residences and searched multiple vehicles, including the minivan used in the offences. A large quantity of suspected stolen property was recovered, including a stolen BMW. Due to the volume of items seized, a full inventory is expected to take several days or weeks to complete.

Police believe this group is responsible for similar jewelry store break and enters in Brantford, Guelph, Niagara Region, Peel Region, Quebec, and other jurisdictions. The investigation remains ongoing.

As a result of these actions, five individuals have been arrested and charged in relation to the November Ancaster Jewellers break and enter:

• Silviu Moraru, 36-years-old, from Stoney Creek.
• Ion-Ciprian Constantin, 30-years-old, of no-fixed-address.
• Mircea Drezaliu, 36-years-old, of no-fixed-address.
• Ionut Stroe, 25-years-old, from Hamilton.
• Vasile Vasile, 36-years-old, from Brampton.

Hamilton Police will be opposing bail for all five accused.

First Incident – Discount Store
A 68-year-old male was paying for his purchase when he was selected by three suspects. One suspect positioned himself close behind the victim to observe his PIN, while a second suspect impeded the victim’s exit. A third suspect then stole the victim’s wallet. Before the victim realized it was missing, approximately $2,000 had been withdrawn from his accounts.

Second Incident – Thrift Store
An 83-year-old female was shopping when the same suspects used a similar distraction technique. One suspect engaged her by pretending to move her shopping cart, while the other two moved behind her, dropped an item to create a distraction, and stole her wallet. The suspects left the store before the victim became aware of the theft.

As a result of the investigation, Hamilton Police have identified two of the suspects:

• Florian STOIAN, 40-year-old male from Markham
• Ana PETRESCU, 46-year-old female from Scarborough

A third suspect is still unidentified at this time

This method of theft is common, particularly during busy shopping periods. Hamilton Police urge the public to:

• Shield your PIN when making purchases
• Keep wallets and valuables secured and not easily accessible
• Be cautious of strangers engaging you unexpectedly, including attempts to distract you through conversation, physical contact, sales pitches, or offers of jewellery

In December 2024 and January 2025 suspects broke into a warehouse operated by T Force Logistics in Stoney Creek ON. They specifically targeted cellphones belonging to Bell Canada. Working with investigators at Bell, the Hamilton Police Break and Enter Auto Theft and Robbery (BEAR) unit was able to track the stolen cellphones to two businesses: Link It Up at 34 Bristol, Mississauga and Amrit Electronics in Etobicoke.

Search warrants were executed at both businesses. Investigators recovered:

• 183 stolen iPhone 16 Pro Max phones – retail value $250,000 - $450,000

• $65,000 in Canadian currency and $4,000 in US currency

• 16.5kg of silver bars worth $34,000

• Stolen Corporate SIM cards used to unlock hundreds of stolen phones

• Packages in the name of Bell customers that had been defrauded of new iPhones by overseas scam call centers

Navjot Singh, a 38-year-old male from Oakville, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000.00
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00
• Trafficking Property Obtained by Crime

Puneet Singh, a 45-year-old male from Oakville, also arrested and charged with the following:

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
• Trafficking Property Obtained by Crime
• Proceeds of Crime Over $5000
• Fraud Over $5000

On Friday, August 29, 2025, at approximately 6:35 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a fatal two-vehicle collision on Upper Centennial Parkway.

A 1951 Plymouth travelling southbound on Upper Centennial Parkway from Highland Road accelerated, lost control, and collided with a northbound 2020 Mercedes SUV. The driver and passenger of the Plymouth were pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger of the Mercedes was transported to hospital and later released with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Mercedes sustained minor injuries.

Toxicology results revealed that the driver of the Plymouth was impaired by alcohol.

This incident marks Hamilton’s fourth fatal impaired-driving-related collision of the year, resulting in eight lives lost.

Hamilton Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects involved in an assault on Hess St. South, believed to be motivated by hate toward a member of the transgender community.

On Saturday, October 25, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a physical altercation took place on Hess St. South. During the incident, several individuals took part in an assault on a transgender community member. Video from the area shows portions of the assault and the individuals involved before they left the scene.

Members of Patrol, and the Hate Crime Unit, are actively investigating. Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have video footage from the area. Citizens are asked to review any recordings taken between 1:30 a.m. and 2:40 a.m. on October 25, 2025 and to contact police with any information that could assist the investigation.

On November 24, 2025 a fight erupted at Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School located at 1770 Upper Sherman Avenue and Police were called to assist.

Upon arrival, officers met with a 17-year-old male victim who is a student at the school. He had sustained injuries to his arm and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Police arrested two individuals on scene and charged them with the following:

On Monday, November 17, 2025, at approximately 3:40 a.m., four suspects forced entry into the business. The individuals first smashed the exterior glass door and then pried open a metal interior door to gain access to the store.

Once inside, the suspects smashed several display cases and removed multiple items before fleeing the scene. The full inventory of stolen merchandise is still being assessed.

Investigators are searching for four suspects wearing dark clothing and are believed to be operating a grey Dodge Caravan.

The Hamilton Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the owner of an urn that was recently found in the Dundas area.

On the evening of November 6, 2025, police were contacted regarding an urn discovered on Pirie Drive between Davidson Boulevard and Thornton Trail. Officers attended the area and recovered the urn for safekeeping.

The urn does not contain any markings, inscriptions, or distinguishing features that would assist in identifying its owner.

During this time, an adult male entered the unattended bus and drove away with passengers still on board.

The suspect proceeded to travel up the Hamilton Mountain, making multiple stops along the way, allowing passengers to board and exit freely. He even went as far as to deny someone looking to board with an expired Bus Pass. 

Keeping mindful of the potential risk to public safety, Hamilton Police officers strategically followed the bus and safely brought it to a stop on West 5th Street, where the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

No injuries were reported as a result of this occurrence.

A 36-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with the following offences:

• Obstruct Police
• Drive While Prohibited

The accused is scheduled to appear in court to answer to the charges.

On November 2, 2025, the victim attended the cemetery to visit his infant daughter, who had passed away in recent months. Upon entering the mausoleum, he discovered that his daughter’s urn, which contained her ashes, had been stolen.

Hamilton Police reviewed CCTV footage from the cemetery and immediately began an extensive investigation. Through investigative work, detectives identified the suspect captured on camera committing the theft as Kevin Wintonyk, a 37-year-old man of no fixed address. Wintonyk is known to police and has a history of similar cemetery-theft offences.

On November 5, 2025, investigators located Wintonyk in Niagara Falls, where he was arrested without incident. The stolen urn was recovered, along with several other items believed to have been taken from additional gravesites.

Kevin Wintonyk has been charged with the following offences:

• Indignity to Human Remains
• Break and Enter to Commit
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
• Fail to Comply with Probation ×2
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

He is currently in custody pending a bail hearing.

Hamilton Police were relieved to reunite the victim’s family with their loved one’s remains.
