Hamilton Police have arrested two individuals in connection with a hate-motivated assault that occurred on Hess Street South.

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a physical altercation took place involving multiple individuals. During the incident, a transgender community member was viciously assaulted. Video obtained from the area captured portions of the attack and the involved individuals.

Following an investigation by the Hamilton Police Hate Crime Unit, two men were arrested on November 26, 2025.

• Accused One, a 23-year-old Hamilton man, has been charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 30, 2025.
• Accused Two, a 21-year-old Hamilton man, has also been charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm and is set to appear in court on December 23, 2025.

Hamilton Police thank the public for their cooperation and assistance throughout this investigation.

Hamilton Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects involved in an assault on Hess St. South, believed to be motivated by hate toward a member of the transgender community.

On Saturday, October 25, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a physical altercation took place on Hess St. South. During the incident, several individuals took part in an assault on a transgender community member. Video from the area shows portions of the assault and the individuals involved before they left the scene.

Members of Patrol, and the Hate Crime Unit, are actively investigating. Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have video footage from the area. Citizens are asked to review any recordings taken between 1:30 a.m. and 2:40 a.m. on October 25, 2025 and to contact police with any information that could assist the investigation.

On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, shortly before 5:30 a.m., Hamilton Police received a report of a hate related graffiti to a residence in the area of John Street South and Charlton Avenue in Hamilton

Area residents are requested to check and review their security cameras for any suspicious activity between the hours of 2:00 a.m.  to 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24.
