In January 2022, the Peterborough Police circulated a media release after they arrested Bratty for sexual offences involving male youth.  As a result, two additional victims have come forward to Hamilton Police and made a report.

On Thursday, March 31, 2022, Gary Bratty of Woodstock was arrested and charged with the following offences:

• Sexual Assault x 2
• Gross Indecency x 2

Gary Bratty will appear in court on May 2, 2022.

At the time of the assaults, Bratty was a professional weightlifter and trained youth throughout Hamilton.  Bratty was also affiliated with Big Brothers of Hamilton and has worked in correction facilities in the Toronto, Peterborough, and Ottawa areas.

Hamilton Police believe that there may be more victims and encourage anyone with information to come forward.

Hamilton Police have arrested a Hamilton man as a result of an investigation into two separate historical sexual assaults.

On Wednesday, June 30, 2021 the Hamilton Police Sexual Assault Unit arrested 57 year-old, John Douglas Hashimoto of Hamilton.

Hashimoto is a retired schoolteacher with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, during which time he worked at four schools between 1987 to 2019.

Hashimoto was also a former youth baseball coach in the City of Hamilton.

Investigators believe that there may be additional victims.
