On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, shortly after 2:30 p.m. police received reports that possible human remains were located between Pier 16 and Pier 17 in Hamilton.

The Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service has attended and confirmed the remains are human.

Hamilton Police are currently conducting a search along the shoreline and will remain in the area as the investigation continues.

No further information will be released at this time and an update will be provided once one is available.

Hamilton Police have identified the human remains found in a Hamilton Park last month.

In October 2019, a single bone was discovered by a citizen in Windemere Basin Park in Hamilton. At that time, Detectives from Hamilton Police conducted an investigation and the remains were sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences. The bone was tested and the identity of the person was not able to be determined at that time.

On October 6, 2020, Hamilton Police attended another location within Windermere Basin Park where human remains were discovered. These remains were sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences. Further testing, including dental records, has identified the human remains as 26-year-old Jammar Allison of Toronto. The investigation to date has determined Mr. Allison is the victim of a homicide.

On June 1, 2018, Jammar Allison, was abducted from a parking lot located at 680 Rexdale Blvd in Toronto by what is believed to be three unknown suspects. The abductors used a black Dodge Caravan. Toronto Police investigated this matter as a kidnapping and have been investigating Allison’s disappearance for the past two years.

Jammar's family is devastated by the news and have requested privacy as they grieve the loss of their son and brother.

On March 18, 2020, shortly before 5:00 p.m., the police were notified about the discovery of bones close to a hydro tower field off Cormorant Road in Ancaster. Hamilton Police cordoned the area off while they gathered evidence to send to the Centre of Forensic Sciences. Police received validation that the bones were human and conducted an investigation to confirm the identity

The evidentiary information located at the scene along with DNA analysis established the remains were that of a transient 40-year-old male from Hamilton. It is believed his body has been in the area for an indeterminate amount of time.

A ground search started on Friday morning on behalf of the Coroner’s Office with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police Canine Unit.

An extensive ground search was conducted but nothing else has been located.

This morning at 10:12 a.m., city workers were clearing the long grass around a water pumping station and located a deceased person. Hamilton Police officers responded and confirmed the body of a deceased male. Divisional Detectives are working with the Coroner's Office to determine the identity and cause of death. Hamilton Police will be in the area for approximately 24 hours and are requesting that members of the public stay clear of this area.

On Monday, May 21, 2019, a male was walking along the Lake Ontario shoreline near Cherry Beach Rd when he found the femur bone and brought it to the East End Station.

Hamilton Police are currently conducting a search along the shoreline for additional remains. The case has been turned over to the Coroner’s Office.
