During this ongoing attempted murder investigation, police located evidence of a conspiracy to murder a person unrelated to the initial shooting.   On April 4, 2024, members of the Hamilton Police Service Homicide Unit arrested Kamaldeep Dhaliwal of Hamilton and charged him with Conspiracy to Commit Murder. 

From further investigation into this matter, a second person involved in this conspiracy to commit murder was identified as 27-year-old Michael Francis of Niagara Falls.  Michael Francis appeared in court on Friday, June 28, 2024 charged with Conspiracy to Commit Murder.

This investigation is ongoing with efforts to identify the other co-conspirators in this plot to commit murder.  The number of co-conspirators and the nature of the evidence leading to this arrest will not be disclosed at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

Video surveillance on Main Street East shows an unknown male picking up another male in a green Nike tracksuit at the corner of Leinster Avenue South and Main Street East at 7:55 a.m. on Saturday, June 15. He drives him a few hundred metres down the road and drops him off at the corner of Connaught Avenue South and Main Street East. 

The man wearing the green Nike tracksuit has been identified. Investigators are now working to identify the unknown individual who picked him up.

The vehicle is a four-door red Hyundai Elantra with black rims.

Hamilton Police are actively investigating a recent house fire/explosion incident and are appealing to anyone with information to contact police.

On the morning of Friday, April 19, 2024, police received reports of a house fire and explosion in the area of Highway 6 and Concession 4, with emergency responders arriving at the scene just prior to 7:00 a.m.

During this critical timeframe, an individual matching the description provided was sighted in the area, moving southbound along Highway 6 shortly after the onset of the fire.

The individual is described as having a medium build, dressed in dark attire, donning white gloves, carrying a black backpack featuring a logo at its center, and holding a white bag.

Hamilton Police continue to investigate the City’s second homicide of the year.

On Wednesday March 6, 2024, shortly before 1:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 119 King Street West, Hamilton.  Officers arrived on scene locating a male on the sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds. The male was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. 

The victim of this murder has now been identified as, 19-year-old, Alexander Circiumaru of Hamilton.  Family have provided the below photograph to be released to the public.  A post mortem examination is taking place today in Toronto.

Investigation has revealed that Alexander Circiumaru was walking on the sidewalk when a single male shooter jumped out of a car and shot several times before returning to the car and fleeing westbound on King Street West.  The vehicle was last seen continuing westbound in the area of King Street West and Queen Street North. 

The shooter is described as a male, dressed all in black clothing and wearing a face mask.  The suspect vehicle is believed to be a newer model Honda Civic black or dark grey in colour with a spoiler on the trunk. 

Police believe this to be a targeted attack and are reviewing area CCTV video in an effort to identify those people involved.

Upon arrival, police discovered a grey four-door motor vehicle with one male occupant in his 60s. Despite immediate lifesaving measures, the individual was transported to the hospital and later pronounced deceased. In addition, investigators identified a second vehicle, brown in colour, and two males in their 20s who were transported to the hospital, both remain in non-life threatening condition.

The circumstances surrounding this tragic collision are currently under investigation, with dedicated officers remaining at the scene to gather critical information.

This vehicle is of interest to investigators who believe it may have been in the vicinity of Sumach Street and Melvin Avenue on Sunday, November 5, 2023, between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

On Sunday, July 24, 2023, at approximately 8:15p.m. a minivan collided with a stand-up electric scooter on Rymal Road West near Garth Street.

The individual operating the scooter was transported to hospital.

The driver of the minivan has been charged with Fail to Yield from Private Drive.

Police have also charged the rider of the kick scooter with various charges regarding the status of the scooter under the Ministry of Transportation guidelines.

Hamilton Police continue to investigate a firearm involved commercial robbery.

On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, a robbery occurred at a commercial business in the area of Main Street West and Emerson Street.

The suspect is described as, a white male, approximately 5’10, wearing a black toque, black North Face jacket with logos on the left breast pocket and right rear shoulder, wearing a multi coloured face covering, black shoes and was seen leaving the location with a blue grocery style bag.

A black handgun style firearm was observed during the incident.

No one sustained any physically injuries.

On Thursday, November 22, 2018, at approximately 8:15 p.m., Marko (Mark) Bakir was shot to death on his own driveway at an address on Clifton Downs Road in the City of Hamilton.  Police have continually investigated Marko's murder for nearly four years.

Today, the Hamilton Police Service Homicide Unit is announcing the arrest of, 43-year-old, Mark Buzzelli of Hamilton, for his role in the murder of Mark Bakir.  Buzzelli was arrested without incident at a business in Burlington, Ontario.

Buzzelli has been charged with Accessory after the fact of murder.

Buzzelli will have a brief court appearance today at the John Sopinka Courthouse.

On Saturday, July 23, 2022, shortly after 1:30a.m., a male riding an electric scooter was struck by a Honda Civic travelling northbound on Upper Kenilworth Avenue near Landron Avenue.

The 20-year-old driver of the Honda stopped his vehicle and called emergency services.  The rider of the scooter, a 15-year-old Hamilton youth, sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital.

The 15-year-old youth has since been released from the hospital and continues to recover at home.

The investigation into the collision has been concluded and no charges are being laid.

The Hamilton Police Service would like to remind all road users to make safety their number one priority.

On Thursday, July 21, 2022, at approximately 9:25 p.m. police responded to a townhouse complex in the area of Upper Paradise Road and Garth Street for a shooting incident. Upon arrival, officers located a, 27-year-old man, with significant gunshot injuries.

The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Police believed the shooting to be a targeted incident.

Through investigation, police identified the shooter as, 25-year-old, Abakar Bechir of Hamilton. It was learned that Bechir had left the province and a warrant was put out for his arrest.

On August 14, 2022, Bechir was arrested by members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, while exiting a plane at the Edmonton Airport.

Bechir was transported back to Hamilton and will appear in court today.

Bechir has been charged with, Attempt Murder While Using a Firearm and Fail to Comply Release Order X2.

To date, the victim remains in critical condition.

On Monday, August 15, 2022, shortly after 9:40 a.m. Hamilton Police received reports of a male appearing in distress with visible injuries running in the area of Oriole Crescent. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

On Sunday, August 14, 2022, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the victim was contacted by an old acquaintance and the two made arrangements to meet up. The victim was picked up from his residence, drove to a few locations, eventually returning to a residence in Hamilton’s east end.

The victim advised he remembers walking through the front door of the residence. Upon entering the residence, he was struck in the back of the head with a foreign object. The victim woke up in a basement, tied to a chair, where he was assaulted by multiple people.

The victim eventually got free, ran out of the residence and sought help from bystanders.

Once confirming the address, Hamilton Police set up a perimeter at the residence and arrested four suspect:

Police are looking to arrest 22-year-old, Aidan Bristol Eydt-Maher, for his involvement in this crime.

On Tuesday, August 2, 2022, Hamilton Police became aware of a hate incident posted on social media.

It was believed to have taken place on Monday, August 1, 2022, on an HSR bus, in the area of Gage Park at the Lawrence Road entrance. The content of the video shows a male making transphobic and homophobic slurs towards two unknown people. The male also made threats towards the individuals and exited the bus at Gage Park on Lawrence Road.

The incident was reported to police via the Hamilton Police online reporting tool by a third party in another province.

The Hamilton Police Service is investigating a robbery that occurred on the Hamilton Mountain.

On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at approximately 8:40p.m., an unknown suspect entered a convenience store in the area of Fennell Avenue and Upper Sherman Avenue. Once in the store, the suspect approached the counter and made a demand for money. The suspect robbed the business of a quantity of cash.  No one was injured.

The suspect is described as;

• 20’s to 30’s
• 5’10 – 6’0
• Average build
• Wearing a plaid jacket, grey track pants, and brown boots. Also wearing medical masks, winter gloves, and a black t-shirt over their head.

Hamilton Police are investigating an assault with a weapon that occurred on Monday, May 16, 2022.

On Monday, May 16, 2022, at approximately 2:45a.m. an unknown male suspect entered a business in downtown Hamilton and selected merchandise before leaving without any attempt to pay. When confronted by an employee outside of the business the suspect brandished an unknown weapon and cut the employee before fleeing on foot southbound on John Street South.

On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, Bruxy Cavey of Hamilton was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault.

Bruxy Cavey will appear in court on Monday, June 27, 2022.

At the time of the assault, Bruxy Cavey was the primary teaching Pastor at The Meeting House Church and was employed there from 1996 to 2021. The Meeting House Church has its headquarters in Oakville; however, has remote locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

Hamilton Police believe that there may be more victims and encourage anyone with information to come forward.

On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, shortly before 4:00a.m., Hamilton Police and Emergency partners responded to a house fire in the area Essling Avenue and Upper Wentworth Street in the City of Hamilton.

Hamilton Police and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office conducted an investigation that determined the fire to be categorized as an Arson.  CCTV images from the area captured a male suspect involved in this arson. 

The CCTV footage shows the suspect enter a garage, intentionally start a fire and then leave the area on foot.

On Monday, April 18, 2022, shortly after 3:30 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to possible shots fired in the area of 44 Martha Street, Hamilton. 

Police can confirm a shooting incident occurred.  Multiple suspects were involved in this shooting.  Minor injuries were reported.

Division Two Criminal Investigations Branch is in charge of the investigation.  Detectives asking area residents to check their security cameras between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. for any suspicious activity and to contact police. Detectives are also asking if you were driving in the area and have dash camera footage that would be suitable for review please also contact investigators.

On Friday, September 3, 2021, shortly after 08:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to reports of a shooting that just occurred in the Oriole Crescent neighborhood in Hamilton’s east-end.

A male and female were standing in the rear yard of a residence, when they observed a male exit a dark gold coloured SUV and walk towards their direction.

The suspect approached the victims, before discharging multiple shots. The male victim ran into the residence, while the female victim fled north.

No one was injured in the incident.

The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.

The scene has since been processed and police are canvassing the area for any surveillance and witnesses.
