Hamilton Police are releasing images of suspects involved in the Bayfront Park stabbing that occurred in August of 2023. 

On Saturday, August 26, 2023 at approximately 2:20 a.m. Hamilton Police responded to Bayfront Park, where two individuals in their 20's were injured in an altercation involving an edged weapon.

Through investigation, it is believed a dispute occurred between a group of individuals in the park, which escalated to two males being stabbed. The victims were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  

Investigators are appealing for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects involved.

On Thursday, June 29, 2023, shortly before 8:00 a.m., Hamilton Police received calls of a male waving and making stabbing motions with a knife at individuals in the area of Hughson Street and King Street East.

Police located the male in the area of James Street and King Street and immediately engaged the male, directing him to drop the knife, to which the male did not comply. The male began to walk towards police with knife in hand and officers conducted a gun-point arrest.

Hamilton Police have arrested 37-year-old, James Rankin for;

• Possess Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
• Disobey Court Order

On Thursday, November 3, 2022, shortly before 12:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School, after reports of an individual outside of the school with an edged weapon.

Police responded to the school and arrested a 16-year-old male youth.

A 16-year-old female youth was taken to hospital with minor injuries sustained from the edged weapon.

The 16-year-old male youth has been charged with Assault with a Weapon.

Hamilton Police recognize the importance of school safety and how a threat of this nature can be difficult for students, staff and their families. Police take incidents like these extremely seriously.

The Hamilton Police Service are investigating a robbery that occurred on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 in the East End of Hamilton.

On Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at approximately 1:00a.m., an unknown suspect entered a gas station in the East End of Hamilton, approached the counter and made a demand for money. The suspect brandished a knife and robbed the business of a quantity of cash.

No one was injured. The knife produced by the suspect appears to be a kitchen-style knife and is still outstanding.

The Hamilton Police BEAR Unit is investigating an attempted robbery that occurred in downtown Hamilton.

On Sunday, August 29, 2021, at approximately 12:45a.m., an unknown suspect entered a business in downtown Hamilton, approached the counter and made a demand for money. The suspect brandished a pocketknife and attempted to rob the business but ultimately left empty handed. The suspect was last seen in the area of Woodlands Park located at Barton Street East and Sanford Avenue North.

No one was injured. The knife used by the suspect is described as a silver pocketknife and is still outstanding.

Investigators are appealing for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect for this attempted robbery. On Wednesday, April 21, 2021, shortly after 11:00 p.m., a male entered Tim Hortons in the east end of Hamilton, ordered a beverage then proceeded to tell the Tim Hortons employee he was armed with a knife. The male demanded all the money in the cash register, and then proceeded to pull out the knife and point it at the employee.

As this was occurring, the employee managed to get the attention of another staff member, who was working the drive-thru window at the time. The staff member sought the help of a customer, who then called for police.

The employees complied with the suspect’s directions, removing the cash till from the register and handing it over to the suspect. The suspect then proceeded to exit the Tim Hortons and was seen fleeing the area on a bicycle.

The employees provided police with a description and direction of travel for the suspect. With the information provided by witnesses, police searched, eventually locating the suspect in the area of Roxborough Avenue and Tuxedo Avenue North, where he was arrested.

Investigators seized evidence related to the robbery. On Thursday, April 22, 2021, his matter was addressed at the John Sopinka Courthouse.

The employees did not incur any physical injuries.

Hamilton Police need your help with a commercial business robbery. Anyone with information about the incident or can identify the suspect is asked to contact investigators.

On Monday, November 30, 2020, shortly after 6:15 p.m., a lone male suspect entered the Days Inn Hotel, located at 210 Main Street East, Hamilton. He approached the front counter and demanded money. At the time, the employee noted the male was in possession of a knife.

The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and other items as he fled the building. He was last seen leaving the area in a dark coloured vehicle that is believed to have been waiting for his departure.

The employee was not physically injured during the incident.

On Tuesday, October 8, 2019, shortly after 4:30 p.m., a confrontation occurred outside Limeridge Mall between a group of young people and two adults. One of the adults was bumped and words were exchanged. The second adult was repeatedly punched and kicked. The assault continued until concerned citizens intervened and the suspects fled the area.

During the assault, a knife was displayed to the victims.

Hamilton Police Mountain Division detectives have continued the investigation and identified the parties involved in the incident. They were arrested and taken into police custody. They have been released and are scheduled to appear in court on Friday, November 15, 2019.

The victims received minor injuries, none in relation to the knife.
