In early July 2022, Hamilton Police entered into an investigation after a victim came forward to report an incident of sexual assault from 2017.

On Thursday, August 11, 2022, Chevaughn “Chevy” Adamson of Burlington was arrested and charged with the following offences:

• Sexual Assault
• Sexual Interference

Chevaughn Adamson will appear in court on Monday, September 12, 2022.

At the time of the assault, Chevaughn Adamson was a summer Camp Counsellor at Mohawk College. Adamson has not worked as a camp counsellor at Mohawk College since the summer that the incidents occurred.

Hamilton Police believe that there may be more victims and encourage anyone with information to come forward.

On Sunday, September 29, 2019, members of the public purchased tickets and attended the Mohawk College McIntyre Performing Arts Centre, located at 135 Fennell Ave. W. Hamilton, for a political speaking event held by the People’s Party of Canada.

Event attendees were met by a large group of approximately 100 protesters as they entered the building. Hamilton Police and Mohawk College Security Services were onsite to ensure community safety and well-being for protesters and attendees. Four arrests were made for breach of the peace. The arrested parties were removed from the scene and later released unconditionally. There were no reported injuries.

Hamilton Police continued the investigation to identify potential criminal offences, suspects, as well as interview victims and witnesses. Hamilton Police further reviewed numerous hours of video from a number of sources including media and social media footage. As a result, several criminal offences and suspects were identified.

On October 22, 2019, Hamilton Police arrested one male and on October 23, 2019, two males turned themselves in to Hamilton Police for offences related to the Mohawk College incident.

Charged: Alaa AL SOUFI (27-years-old) Toronto resident

• Intimidation X2, Disguise with Intent X2 and Cause Disturbance

Charged: Kevin METCALF (33-years-old) Toronto resident

• Obstruct Police

Charged: Maximiliano HERRERA (30-years-old) Hamilton resident

• Intimidation and Assault Level One

All arrested parties will appear for a bail hearing at John Sopinka Court House in Hamilton.

Hamilton Police are still attempting to identify two victims that were assaulted and encourage them to come forward and contact police.

• A male victim was assaulted by a male suspect when videotaping the event on his cell phone.
• A female victim was assaulted when a male suspect knocked her hat from her head, which was later returned by police.

These offences were captured on video surveillance and the suspects have been identified but Police would like to identify and speak to the victims.
