UPDATE: Driver Charged in Fatal Collision

Hamilton Police have charged, a 51-year-old woman with Careless Driving Causing Death under the Highway Traffic Act.

On Saturday, February 5, 2022, shortly after 3:00p.m., a 70-year-old Hamilton man was struck by a single motor vehicle , while attempting to cross Upper James Street, south of Fennell Avenue East.

The pedestrian was transported to hospital in critical condition, while the driver was cooperative and remained on scene.

On Sunday, February 20, 2022, the male succumbed to his injuries and marked the City’s third traffic fatality of 2022.

The 51-year-old woman has a court date set for Monday, August 22, 2022.

UPDATE: Investigation Involving Pedestrian and Motor Vehicle

Earlier this week, near the intersection of Queenston Road and Parkdale Avenue, an 86-year-old Hamilton man was struck as he crossed the roadway. This morning, police were made aware that he had succumbed to his injuries while in hospital.

The investigation has been managed by the Collison Reconstruction Unit and throughout the process, the driver has cooperated with investigators.

After reviewing all the evidence available, the driver will not be facing any charges.

Hamilton Police would like to thank everyone who assisted with this investigation.

This is the City's 13th traffic fatality of the year and the 4th involving a pedestrian.

Police Appeal for Witnesses to a Fail to Remain Collision

Hamilton Police continue to investigate an overnight fail to remain collision between a pedestrian and vehicle. The pedestrian has succumbed to his injuries and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

On Wednesday, October 9, 2019, shortly after 11:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of Mohawk Road East and Seven Oaks Drive for a fail to remain collision. Through investigation, police believe a 65-year-old Hamilton man was struck by a vehicle as he crossed the road in front of 270 Mohawk Road East. The vehicle involved continued eastbound on Mohawk Road fleeing the scene.

The Hamilton Police Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the incident and is appealing for witnesses to come forward and for residents in the area to check their security cameras for any suspicious activity.
