The situation escalated and the vehicles pulled into a plaza nearby. Upon arriving, the male drivers exited their vehicles and an alteration took place resulting in a 73-year-old male being thrown to the ground and assaulted.

On Saturday, January 18, 2020, shortly after 5:00 p.m., police were called to investigate a road rage incident in the area of Mohawk Road East and Upper Wellington Street in Hamilton.

A Toyota Rav4 and Honda Civic were travelling southbound on Upper Wellington when the Honda made a driving action that caused the Toyota to stop abruptly. The Rav4 and Honda drivers engaged in a verbal confrontation outside their cars at a red light intersection. They both entered back into their vehicles to proceed driving when the Honda was rammed from behind, causing him to enter into the intersection. The Rav4 fled the scene with the Honda Driver following behind to a Warren Avenue address. When the Honda driver exited his vehicle the Rav4 driver confronted him with a knife. The Honda driver used his snow brush to shield himself and push the knife away. He left the area without injury and called the police.

There were no reports of injuries. However, the Honda Civic sustained significant rear-end damage.

Police located and arrested the Rav4 driver and charged him with several criminal charges.

Shortly, after 6:45 p.m., on January 8, 2020, a vehicle travelling southbound on Upper James was approaching Rymal Road when a black Cadillac Escalade pulled out of the Husky Gas Station lot nearly causing a collision. The two vehicles continued southbound on Upper James while the drivers engaging in a verbal altercation. When both vehicles came to a stopped at the intersection of Upper James and Twenty Road, the victim heard multiple bangs and believes shots were fired from the Escalade. There were no injuries to the driver or damage to his vehicle.

The Cadillac Escalade was last seen speeding off southbound on Upper James.

On Thursday, October 31, 2019, shortly before 4:30 p.m., the complainant, a 26-year-old Ancaster man was travelling westbound on the LINC when he was involved in a two-car collision. The vehicles pulled off the road and the drivers became involved in a verbal altercation. The situation escalated and the suspect driver began to assault the complainant. The drivers went to the ground as the suspect continued the assault. With the assistance of witnesses, the drivers were separated. When the complainant advised he was contacting police, the suspect left the scene.

Hamilton Police and Hamilton Paramedic Services later attended the complainant’s residence, where he provided the details of the incident and received treatment for minor injuries.

Hamilton Police continued the investigation and after speaking with witnesses a 55-year-old Ancaster man was arrested in relation to the incident.

The male was taken into police custody and later released. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, to answer to the charge of assault.

Divisional Detectives continued the investigation and on Wednesday, September 18, the suspect vehicle and driver were located in the area of Upper Wentworth Street and Fennell Avenue East. The driver resisted arrest but was taken into custody without injury to himself or the officer. The vehicle was seized by police and he was searched and found to be in possession of a controlled substance at the time of his arrest.

Hamilton Police applied for a search a warrant and on Friday, September 20, 2019, the warrant was executed on the vehicle. A Daisey Powerline 340 Pellet gun was seized as well as cocaine.

On Sunday, May 26, 2019, shortly after 6:00 p.m. two vehicles were travelling northbound on John Street approaching King William Street. At that time lane restrictions were in effect due to construction. The suspect, who was operating the second vehicle in the incident, attempted to merge into traffic but was having difficulty due to the position of the victim’s vehicle. After making the lane change the vehicles continued onward as the drivers became involved in a verbal dispute. While waiting for the traffic light at the intersection of John Street North and Wilson Street the victim, who was ahead of the suspect, flicked her cigarette out of her window. The suspect then purposely drove her vehicle into the rear of the victim’s vehicle.

The suspect and victim exited their vehicles at which time the suspect made threats towards the victim and assaulted her.

After complaining of minor injuries, the suspect was transported to the hospital. The victim was not injured.

Police arrived at the scene a short time later and conducted an investigation. The suspect was arrested in hospital and taken into police custody after receiving medical treatment. She was subsequently released with a future court of Tuesday, June 25, 2019, to answer to several charges.

During the entire time, the suspect was accompanied by her three children all under 8-years-of-age, they were not injured. The Children’s Aid Society was advised of the incident.

On April 15, 2019, shortly before 10:30 p.m., a vehicle travelling eastbound along Main Street East was approaching King Street East in Hamilton when he noticed a blue Audi move in behind his car and start flashing his high beams. The Audi then pulled out to the right lane and paced the other driver’s speed while driving side by side. The driver rolled his window down and a short exchange of words with the Audi driver occurred. At this time the driver witnessed the Audi driver hold up and point what he believed to be a handgun before leaving the area.

Police quickly located the vehicle on Centennial Parkway and safely executed a vehicle stop. Police placed the driver under arrest after finding a metal pellet gun inside the vehicle.

Hamilton Police have identified a suspect in an earlier road rage incident on February 13, 2019. Through investigation, 22-year-old Payton Kellam Brush is wanted for the offence of Discharge Firearm. He is described as six feet tall and over 230 pounds. 

The suspect has ties to Brantford and Hamilton. The firearm is still outstanding and the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. If anyone has information as to the suspect’s whereabouts, Police are asking that you do not approach and call 911 immediately.
