                        <title>Stolen Vehicle Recovered, Handgun And Stun Gun Seized</title>

                        <guid>https://hamiltonpolice.on.ca/news/stolen-vehicle-recovered-handgun-and-stun-gun-seized/</guid><pp:caseid>617063</pp:caseid><description><![CDATA[<img src="https://content.presspage.com/uploads/2189/74f35d6a-d1e8-416b-a916-690cbd9ee55b/1920_newsrelease-jan12-2024-2.jpg?10000"><p><span>A 38-year-old Hamilton man has been arrested following a standoff, during which a handgun was involved.</span></p><p><span>On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, just after 11:00 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to an incident at an address near Mountain Avenue South and Maple Avenue in Stoney Creek, prompted by a reported sighting of a weapon.</span></p><p><span>Upon arrival in the area, officers were confronted by an individual pointing a firearm at them, prompting an immediate withdrawal. In response, the police established a containment perimeter to manage the situation, in which, roads were closed off and residents in the area were advised to remain within their homes, until the situation was made safe.</span></p><p><span>Following instructions from police, the occupants of the residence, identified as an adult male and an adult female, exited without incident and were subsequently arrested.</span></p><p><span>45-year-old male, Sean David Thorburn has been charged for the following offences;</span></p><ul><li><span>Breach of Firearm Regulation</span></li><li><span>Two counts of Fail to Comply</span></li><li><span>Forcible Confinement</span></li><li><span>Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm</span></li><li><span>Point Firearm</span></li><li><span>Possession Contrary to Order</span></li><li><span>Possession of a Prohibited Firearm- Loaded</span></li><li><span>Possession of Prohibited Weapon</span></li><li><span>Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000</span></li></ul><p><span>Further investigation uncovered that Sean David Thorburn is presently wanted by both Medicine Hat Police Service and RCMP Detachment.</span></p><p><span>It was determined that the adult female was a victim in the situation and was released unconditionally.</span></p><p><span>During the execution of a search at the residence, police discovered a loaded .22 caliber handgun with four bullets in the magazine inside the home. Additionally, it was confirmed that the vehicle parked in the driveway, a white Ford F550, had been reported stolen from the Guelph Area.                         <title>Hamilton Police Seize Over 156K in Illicit Drugs</title>

                        <guid>https://hamiltonpolice.on.ca/news/hamilton-police-seize-over-156k-in-illicit-drugs/</guid><pp:caseid>606773</pp:caseid><description><![CDATA[<p><span>In a continuous effort to make our community safer, Hamilton Police have charged seven individuals and taken over 156 thousand dollars worth of illicit drugs off our Hamilton streets in the past month.</span></p><p><span>Since the beginning of the year, Hamilton Police have seized a total of 130 crime-related firearms alone. This underscores our commitment to removing dangerous weapons from circulation and preventing potential violence.</span></p><p style="text-align:start;"><span>Over the last month, members of the Major Drug and Gangs Unit executed residential, vehicle and trailer search warrants resulting in a substantial quantity of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, codeine, and oxycodone pills. The estimated street value of the illicit drugs exceeds $156 thousand dollars.</span></p><p style="text-align:start;"><span>In addition to the drug seizures, detectives located a handgun, prohibited extended magazine, prohibited weapons, and numerous rounds of ammunition. Police began to walk in the direction of the male, who then placed the case behind a tent and left the area.
