Hamilton Police were made aware that a Hamilton male was potentially sexual assaulting unsuspecting females.

As a result, Hamilton Police launched an investigation and subsequently arrested 36-year-old Bryan Hayward from Hamilton on May 16, 2025. Hayward has been charged with the following offences:

• Sexual Assault
• Administer Noxious Substance
• Voyeurism
• Distribution of Intimate Images
• Assault with a Weapon
• Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Prohibited
• Fail to Comply Probation (x2)
• Possession of a Controlled Substance- Methamphetamine
• Possession of Schedule I Substance- GHB
• Possession of Schedule I Substance- Hydromorphone
• Possession of Schedule IV Substance- Clonazepam

Bryan Hayward is male, white, 5’10”, approximately 180lbs, medium build, brown hair, with an amputation to his left hand.

Hayward may have contacted his victims through online dating sites. Hamilton Police believe there may be additional victims, including individuals who may not yet realize they have been affected. Investigators are urging anyone who has had any form of relationship or interaction with Hayward to contact police, as they may have information that could assist with the ongoing investigation.

On February 27, 2025, the Superior Court of Justice heard a bail review brought by the Crown. Following the review, the court revoked the 22-year-old’s bail and returned him to custody.

These were violent incidents that targeted vulnerable victims.

On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at approximately 9:30 a.m., a woman was walking in the area of Upper Paradise and Donnici Drive when she was approached by an unknown male and dragged off the trail into a wooded area. The victim was gagged and her wrists bound behind her back. The male proceeded to assault her, but was interrupted by witnesses walking by the area. The suspect fled on foot southbound towards Upper Paradise and was later seen on video in the area of Edgehill Drive.

On August 7, 2023, a 74-year-old female was alone in her residence on the West Mountain when an unknown male entered her residence and confronted her when she was sleeping. The male assaulted the victim for over an hour before leaving the residence on foot. Again, investigators were unable to identify the suspect.

In January 2024, forensic evidence enabled investigators to connect the 2022 and 2023 assaults to the same male suspect. Hamilton Police assembled a project team to identify and locate the offender.

Hamilton Police are warning the public after a 22-year-old male accused of violent sexual assaults was recently released on bail.

Thanks to the extensive efforts of investigators, Leikeze Cheruiyot was located living in the United States and extradited to Canada in November 2024. He appeared at a bail hearing on February 10, 2025, and was released pending his trial.

These were violent incidents that targeted vulnerable victims.

On August 7, 2023, a 74-year-old female was alone in her residence on the West Mountain when an unknown male entered her residence and confronted her when she was sleeping. The male assaulted the victim for over an hour before leaving the residence on foot. Again, investigators were unable to identify the suspect.

From 2022 onwards, there were extensive and various investigative techniques used to identify the suspect, including working with local school boards, sharing case information with other Ontario agencies through the Ontario Serial Predator Investigations Coordinator, following tips and identifying persons of interest.

In January 2024, forensic evidence enabled investigators to connect the 2022 and 2023 assaults to the same male suspect. Hamilton Police assembled a project team to identify and locate the offender.

Thanks to the extensive efforts of investigators, 22-year-old Leikeze Cheruiyot was located living in the United States and recently extradited to Canada. He appeared at a bail hearing on November 27, 2024, and was held in custody. He has been charged with the following offences:

• Forcible Confinement x 2
• Aggravated Sexual Assault
• Break and Enter Commit Sexual Assault
• Sexual Assault
• Aggravated Assault

On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., police received a report of a sexual assault. The victim, while walking in the area near Brigadoon Drive, was approached and assaulted by an unknown male suspect.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident to check their home surveillance or vehicle dash cameras for any suspicious activity between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on the night of Tuesday, September 3.

• Over 6 feet tall
• Black beard
• Wearing a dark or black oversized hoodie and dark or black long pants

On Thursday, May 9, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the suspect entered a residence in the Twenty Place community, located near Twenty Road and Upper James Street in the City of Hamilton. A female victim was assaulted by the suspect before he fled out the front door. 

After investigation, Hamilton Police have arrested Nelson Melo, 27-years-old, from Hamilton. Melo was located at his residence yesterday afternoon. He has been charged with the following:

• Break and enter
• Utter threat

On Monday, February 26, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of Mountain Brow Boulevard and Mohawk Road East where a female was sexually assaulted.

The suspect is described as:

·      Hair: Red/Blonde

·      Facial Hair: Unshaven stubble

·      Build: Broad shoulders

Area residents are requested to check and review their security cameras for any suspicious activity involving a person similar to the provided description between 8:00 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.

On Thursday, November 23, 2023, 34-year-old Daniel Picone of Hamilton was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Daniel Picone will appear in court on Thursday, December 21, 2023.

Confirmed reports indicate that Daniel Picone is a post-secondary educator spanning several years. Investigators suspect the possibility of additional victims and urge anyone possessing relevant information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.

Hamilton Police are asking for the community’s help in identifying the suspect in a stranger sexual assault that occurred on Friday, June 9, 2023, shortly after 2:30 p.m. in the area of Crockett Street and East 34th Street.

The suspect approached an adult female, engaged her in a brief conversation, and then sexually assaulted her by grabbing her breasts. The female pushed the male away and was able to capture the suspect on video immediately following the incident. This video has been shared to various social media platforms.

We are asking residents to come forward with any information that may aid in identifying the suspect or provide details about the incident.

On Monday, May 1, 2023, at approximately 11:40 p.m., a female was exiting a city bus in the area of Mud Street West and Paramount Drive when an unknown male followed her off the bus.

The suspect continued to follow the victim towards a nearby trail where he sexually assaulted the victim.

Hamilton Police have arrested Anthony Musgrove, a 27-year-old man from Hamilton, after several sexual assault investigations were conducted involving multiple victims.

Through investigation, it was learned that Anthony Musgrove met the victims and began communicating with them through online/moblie applications.  Musgrove then arranged to meet with the victims by financially enticing them to have their photos taken for social media platforms before sexually assaulting them.

Musgrove was arrested and charged for the following offences:

• Four Counts Sexual Assault
• Resist Peace Officer
• Two Counts Fail to Comply with Release Order

Musgrove is known to be active in other jurisdictions including Toronto and Niagara. Musgrove may have utilized the aliases of: Tony Williams, Tony Stovel and DJ.

On Saturday, September 3, 2022, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a male approached two adult females walking on Chegwin Trail. This male was unknown to the females.

The male spoke with the victims for a brief time before sexually assaulting them both. The victims managed to fight the suspect off and contacted police. 

As a result of cooperation between McMaster Security Services, Hamilton Police and members of the community, the male was located a short time later and arrested.

In early July 2022, Hamilton Police entered into an investigation after a victim came forward to report an incident of sexual assault from 2017.

On Thursday, August 11, 2022, Chevaughn “Chevy” Adamson of Burlington was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Chevaughn Adamson will appear in court on Monday, September 12, 2022.

At the time of the assault, Chevaughn Adamson was a summer Camp Counsellor at Mohawk College. Adamson has not worked as a camp counsellor at Mohawk College since the summer that the incidents occurred.

On Friday, June 10, 2022, at approximately 11:15 p.m., a male suspect approached a lone female waiting for the bus within a bus shelter on the east side of Upper James Street just south of Fennell Avenue in the City of Hamilton.

The suspect spoke with the victim for a brief time period before sexually assaulting her by grabbing her and then proceeded to jump on her. The victim managed to fight the suspect off and the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspect was not known to the female.

Suspect Description:

·         Male, black

·         20-30 years-of-age

·         Short black hair

·         Clean shaven

·         Pink hooded sweatshirt with a logo on the front

·         Work boots

·         Track pants

·         Back pack with a green stripe down the middle and either grey or white sides

On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, Bruxy Cavey of Hamilton was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault.

Bruxy Cavey will appear in court on Monday, June 27, 2022.

At the time of the assault, Bruxy Cavey was the primary teaching Pastor at The Meeting House Church and was employed there from 1996 to 2021. The Meeting House Church has its headquarters in Oakville; however, has remote locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

On Saturday, March 12, 2022, shortly before 1:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a sexual assault in the area of Main Street West and Bay Street South in Hamilton.

The investigation revealed that the victim was sexually assaulted and that the suspect fled the area eastbound on Main Street West from Bay Street South in a dark coloured vehicle.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 45 to 55 years-of-age, grey and dark coloured hair which is reported to be thinning on the top, goatee style facial hair, average build, approximately 5'6" to 5'7".

At the time of the offence he was wearing dark pants, dark New Balance running shoes, and a New Balance zip-up jacket/shirt.

Hamilton Police are looking to identify this suspect and are requesting the assistance of the public at this time.

In January 2022, the Peterborough Police circulated a media release after they arrested Bratty for sexual offences involving male youth.  As a result, two additional victims have come forward to Hamilton Police and made a report.

On Thursday, March 31, 2022, Gary Bratty of Woodstock was arrested and charged with the following offences:

• Sexual Assault x 2
• Gross Indecency x 2

Gary Bratty will appear in court on May 2, 2022.

At the time of the assaults, Bratty was a professional weightlifter and trained youth throughout Hamilton.  Bratty was also affiliated with Big Brothers of Hamilton and has worked in correction facilities in the Toronto, Peterborough, and Ottawa areas.

In early February of 2022, Hamilton Police entered into an investigation after a victim came forward to report incidents of sexual assault between the years of 2012 and 2016.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. a suspect entered a business in the area of Fennell Avenue East and Upper Sherman Avenue where a lone employee was working. The suspect interacted with the employee and then a sexual assault took place.

At this point in the investigation it is unknown if the victim was targeted.

• 23-27 years-of-age

• Black Adidas jacket
• Dark coloured jogging pants
• Black running shoes.

The suspect was last seen fleeing westbound on Fennell Avenue East.

A 47-year-old man from Woodstock has been arrested for a violent sexual assault.

Hamilton Police believe there are more victims after a sexual assault investigation involving two Hamilton men. 

In June 2021, Hamilton Police Service began an investigation into a sexual assault of a 15-year-old male. As a result of the initial investigation, Hamilton Police Service have charged the following two individuals:

Paul Douglas Munro, 60-years-old from Hamilton

• Sexual Assault Cause Bodily Harm and Sexual Interference

Joseph Hilray Huff, 26-years-old from Hamilton

• Possession of Child Pornography

Investigators believe there may be additional victims as the suspects would target vulnerable and/or transient people and transport them in a red SUV to a Hamilton residence where they were sexually assaulted.

On Sunday, June 20, 2021, shortly after 5:30 p.m., a male suspect boarded a Barton Street bus at Ottawa Street North and proceeded eastbound through the City of Hamilton.

The suspect got off the bus on Woodward Avenue between Barton Street East and Melvin Avenue and proceeded to walk southbound through the McQuesten Urban Farm Community Garden. The suspect then approached a female in the area of Glengrove Avenue and sexually assaulted her by rubbing his groin against her buttocks.

The suspect was not known to the female.

Investigators are appealing for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect for this sexual assault.

On Thursday, July 1, 2021, at approximately 6:00p.m., a 14-year-old male victim was approached by the suspect, near the main water fountain at Gage Park. The suspect had a brief conversation with him and proceeded to slap the victim’s buttocks. Police have been investigating since the initial report of the incident, in an effort to identify the person responsible, however investigators are now seeking the public's assistance.

Hamilton Police have arrested a Hamilton man as a result of an investigation into two separate historical sexual assaults.

On Wednesday, June 30, 2021 the Hamilton Police Sexual Assault Unit arrested 57 year-old, John Douglas Hashimoto of Hamilton.

Hashimoto is a retired schoolteacher with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, during which time he worked at four schools between 1987 to 2019.

Hashimoto was also a former youth baseball coach in the City of Hamilton.

Investigators believe that there may be additional victims.

As a result of information brought forward from the community, the Hamilton Police Sexual Assault Unit commenced an investigation into Jesse Chiavaroli. Investigators also worked closely with the Ontario Provincial Police and Niagara Regional Police Service after reports involving Chiavaroli were made in those areas.

On June 2, 2021, members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Burnaby Detachment arrested Jesse Chiavaroli for six counts of sexual assault.

He was remanded into custody and transported back to Hamilton for a bail hearing today.

Chiavaroli is a former resident of Niagara and Hamilton. He worked in the restaurant and bar industry in downtown St. Catharines and Niagara Falls from 2009 - 2015.

Additionally, Jesse Chiavaroli worked in the restaurant and bar industry in Hamilton from 2015 - 2018.

An adult male was walking in the area of King Street East and Holton Avenue, Hamilton when he was sexually assaulted by an unknown male suspect.

The investigation has led detectives to identify this incident as a hate crime. Investigators are working closely with the 2S and LGBTQIA+ Liaison Officer and the Hate Crime Unit.

• Male, white, thin build, 6ft tall, 30 – 35 years old, light colored hair, short groomed goatee,

A 62-year-old Ajax man employed as a Personal Support Working in a Hamilton nursing home has been arrested and charged with Sexual Assault.

Detectives from the Hamilton Police Sexual Assault Unit entered into an investigation after a female nursing home resident came forward to report an incident which occurred in August 2020. The suspect, who was working in the capacity of a PSW for a temporary staffing agency was employed by the local nursing home at the time of the incident.

On Wednesday, September 9, 2020, Angus NJOKU, 62-years-of-age, was arrested and charged with sexual assault in relation to that offence. Detectives believe there may be other victims and are asking them or anyone with information to contact police.

On Monday, August 10, 2020, detectives from the Hamilton Police Child Abuse Unit entered into an investigation involving a sexual assault in the area of South Service Road and McNeilly Road in the City of Hamilton. Detectives learned a young person, under the age of 16, was befriended over a social media platform and on two occasions met up with a male in the Town of Grimsby. During the second meeting, the female and male drove to the Hamilton area where the victim was sexually assaulted and then given money.

Through continued investigation, police have identified 31-year-old Alexander HANG of Etobicoke. On Friday, August 21, 2020, he was arrested, taken into police custody and appeared in court the following day.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims who have come in contact with Alexander HANG and they are urged to contact police.

On Thursday, July 2, 2020, shortly after 8:30 p.m., two women in separate incidents were sexually assaulted by a male riding a bicycle. One incident occurred near Longwood Road and the Waterfront Trail and the other near Churchill Park.

During both incidents, the male approached the victims from the rear and while riding his bicycle slapped them on their bottom. He then carried on, not looking back at the victim.

The victims were not physically injured.

Detectives continue to investigate the incidents and have increased police presence in the area.

Hamilton Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time to check their electronic devices for a male matching the description provided.

As parks are opening and Hamiltonians are taking advantage of the nice weather, Hamilton Police would like to remind citizens to enjoy their activities while keeping safety in mind. When possible, keep a charged cellphone on hand, stay in well-lit areas and be cognizant of the people around you.

On Wednesday, July 1, 2020, shortly after 8:30 p.m., a female was jogging in the area of Bayfront Park in Hamilton. The jogger was slapped on the bottom from behind by a male riding a bicycle in the same direction. The male did not say a word to the jogger or look back as he continued down the Bayfront Trail.

At the time of the incident, there were numerous people in the park celebrating Canada Day.

As parks are opening and Hamiltonians are taking advantage of the nice weather, Hamilton Police would like to remind citizens to enjoy their activities while keeping safety in mind. When possible keep a charged cellphone on hand, stay in well-lit areas and be cognizant of the people around you.

In November 2019, Hamilton Police received information about two sexual assault incidents that occurred in residences in the area of Pearl Street and Peter Street. The investigation into these incidents remained ongoing and on June 29, 2020, police were made aware of a similar incident that occurred earlier in the day in the same area.

Through continued investigation, police identified a Mississauga man in relation to the three incidents. Later that day, he was arrested at his residence without incident and was turned over to Hamilton Police.

On Tuesday, June 30, 2020, the male appeared in court to answer to his charges.

In all three incidents, the victims were not physically injured.

On Sunday, June 28, 2020, shortly after 3:30 p.m., a mother and her four-year-old daughter visited Hampton Park located in the area of Lupin Avenue and East 44^th Street, Hamilton. Moments later, they were approached by an unknown male who initiated a conversation with the mother. The male put his arm around her and attempted to kiss her. He then picked the child up and made comments about liking women with children. The mother retrieved her daughter who was not physically harmed. The male then walked away. At the time of the incident, there were several other people in the park.

Hamilton Police are appealing to anyone with information about this incident to contact police.

Hamilton Police have arrested a Hamilton man as a result of an investigation into three separate sexual assaults that occurred in West Hamilton.

On April 29, 2019, and July 26, 2019, lone female residents were sexually assaulted after a male who was not known to them, entered their residence and sexually assaulted them. The investigation led police to reopen a 2011 unsolved break and enter investigation where a female occupant was sexually assaulted in her residence.

During the investigation, detectives discovered multiple incidents of voyeurism where women were recorded without their knowledge. Investigators believe there may be other victims and are encouraging anyone who may have information to contact the police.

On June 16, 2020, Dennis Rhodes (40-years-old) from Hamilton was arrested and remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing on the following charges:

On November 28, 2019, Hamilton Police Sexual Assault Unit was notified that an adult female personal support worker was sexually assaulted. The accused solicited care from an in-home personal support worker who was then sexually assaulted. As a result of the investigation, police believe there may be other victims.
