On Sunday, June 7, 2026, at approximately 3:16 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of Elodia Court after a witness reported a suspicious vehicle stopped in the neighbourhood. Officers arrived a short time later and located a grey Honda parked on Elodia Court with its lights off. Following a brief pursuit, the suspect was arrested and officers seized a loaded Glock handgun.

On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at approximately 11:57 p.m., Hamilton Police received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired at a residence on Elodia Court. When officers arrived, they located shell casings outside the residence and multiple bullet holes in the garage door.

A black Honda CR-V with licence plate DANH 172 was seen fleeing the area. The vehicle was reported stolen from the Peel region in May. There have also been three other incidents in the area targeted to the same address on Elodia Court. Police have remained in contact with the occupants of the targeted residence, who have been cooperative with investigators.

Hamilton Police are searching for a 14-year-old male in connection with a shooting death at Jackson Square.

On April 24, 2026, at approximately 5:10 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to reports of a shooting inside Jackson Square. Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old male suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Nabil Askafe of Hamilton. Nabil’s family has requested privacy as they deal with their loss.

Two males were observed fleeing the area eastbound toward James Street. Police have identified one of the suspects as a 14-year-old youth, who is currently wanted in connection with this incident. Efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest him. Police are urging him to contact investigators or seek legal counsel and turn himself in. He is facing a 2^nd degree murder charge.

Police are currently seeking judicial authorization to release the suspect's name and photo. 

Police believe there was an altercation prior to Nabil’s death inside the mall. During the physical altercation, the suspect brandished a firearm and shot Nabil. Police are also asking the individual who was with the suspect to also come forward so investigators can talk to him.

Hamilton Police are investigating a tragic and brazen daytime shooting that occurred yesterday in the area of King Street East and James Street North, resulting in the death of a 26-year-old woman.

On Friday, July 11, 2025, at approximately 5:25 p.m., Hamilton Police received multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire near the intersection of King Street East and James Street North. When uniform patrol officers arrived, they encountered a chaotic and distressing scene. Two victims were located. A male victim suffering from a gunshot wound was transported to hospital where he received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. A second victim, identified as 26-year-old Belinda Sarkodie, was found further west along King Street, also suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, she was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Belinda had immigrated to Canada from Ghana in 2024 and was living and working in Hamilton. At the time of the incident, she had been in the downtown core spending time with a friend. At this time, investigators believe the male victim may have been the intended target, and that Belinda was an innocent bystander tragically caught in the crossfire. There is no known connection between Belinda and the suspect, nor between Belinda and the male victim. 

Hamilton Police are releasing the following description of the suspect:

• White male
• Medium build
• Brown hair
• Wearing a black t-shirt with a white design on the front and a large red letter "V" on the back
• Blue shorts, dark socks, and dark shoes
• Wearing a dark, medical-style mask

July 5, 2025 – East Hamilton Shooting

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, police responded to reports of a shooting east of Kenilworth Avenue on Barton. The shooting occurred at Barton and Harmony Avenue when a vehicle travelling westbound on Barton was shot at by two suspects on foot. The suspects ran south and the victim drove to a nearby mall to call police. Initial evidence indicates the incident may be targeted. One individual was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Residents and businesses in the area of Barton Street East, Frederick Avenue, Tragina Avenue North, Britannia Avenue, and Harmony Avenue are asked to check surveillance or dash camera footage for two suspects who may have been seen on foot around the time of the incident.

July 6, 2025 – Flamborough Shooting

At approximately 3:20 a.m. on Sunday, July 6, police were called to a party at a short-term rental property on Highway 6, near Concession Road 6 West in Flamborough, following reports of a shooting. One person sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital. At this time, police do not have a suspect or vehicle description.

Investigators are asking nearby residents and businesses along Highway 6, Concession Road 6 West, Concession Road 6 East, and Millgrove Sideroad to review any surveillance or dash camera footage for suspicious activity during the early morning hours of July 6.

 Harsimrat was shot and killed while she stood near a bus stop at the intersection of Upper James Street and South Bend Road in Hamilton. 

 Since then, Hamilton Police investigators have spoken to a number of witnesses and collected hours of CCTV from the area.

 With Toronto Police Service’s assistance, the white Hyundai Elantra was recovered on April 20 in a residential area in northwest Toronto. The vehicle was towed to Hamilton for forensic examination.

 On April 21, Hamilton Police also executed a search warrant at a central Hamilton residence and recovered the black Mercedes SUV. Forensic investigators are searching the car for evidence. 

 Investigators have narrowed down the pool of people who are associated to these two vehicles. We encourage those involved in the April 17 incident to contact a lawyer and turn themselves in to Hamilton Police.

Hamilton Police are investigating a homicide after an innocent female bystander was struck by a stray bullet during gunfire on Upper James.

On April 17, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Hamilton Police received reports of a shooting near Upper James and South Bend Road. When police arrived, they found a 21-year-old female with a gunshot wound to the chest. She was transported to hospital and later died from her injuries. 

She has been identified as Harsimrat Randhawa from India. Harsimrat was studying at Mohawk College and was standing at the bus stop on her way to work when she was killed.

Through collected video, investigators have determined that the passenger of a black Mercedes SUV fired at the occupants of a white sedan. Shortly after the shooting, the white sedan fled northbound on Upper James and the Mercedes travelled westbound on South Bend. 

Shots also entered the rear window of a residence on Allenby Avenue where the occupants were watching television a few feet away. Fortunately, no one was injured in the home.

Hamilton Police have arrested a 17-year-old for a shooting that happened in October. 

On October 24, 2024, a tenant at 288 Grays Road in Hamilton found a bullet lodged in his residence. After an investigation by the Shooting Response Team, detectives were able to identify the individual responsible. 

On December 5, 2024, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of King St and Sherman Avenue. As a result of the search warrant, detectives recovered a firearm and arrested a youth who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth faces the following charges:

• Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm (2 counts)
• Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (2 counts)
• Careless Use of a Firearm
• Criminal Negligence

On November 26, 2024, Hamilton Police were called around 2:55 a.m. for a shooting that had just taken place. At this time, investigators do not believe there were any injuries.

Police are looking to identify the shooting suspect who has been described as male, curly hair, wearing a hoodie, blue jeans and black/white shoes.

While the motive of this shooting remains under investigation, investigators believe that this shooting was targeted. The individual who investigators believe was the intended target did not remain on scene.

On Thursday, October 24, while on an unrelated investigation, the Shooting Response Team found evidence of a firearm that had been discharged on the Bruce Trail in Dundas, near Old Guelph Rd. and Highway 6. 

At approximately 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, Hamilton Police were called to 288 Grays Rd after a tenant found a bullet lodged in his window frame. The tenant also discovered his television was damaged by a bullet. The investigation led to a neighbour’s apartment. Luckily, the tenant was not home at the time the gun was discharged.

On October 10, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a 911 call reporting gunshots in thel area of Showcase Drive, located in the southeast region of the Stoney Creek Mountain. Upon arrival, police confirmed that a shooting had occurred.

The Shooting Response Team has taken over the investigation and is requesting residents with surveillance cameras in the area to review their footage for any sighting of a silver SUV that may have fled the scene at high speed. The vehicle was last seen heading westbound on Showcase Drive. Investigators would like to thank those who have already submitted video footage, which is currently being reviewed by detectives. At this time, there are no suspect descriptions available.

Based on the evidence, investigators believe the shooting was targeted, though the motive remains under investigation. The victim has been cooperative with authorities.

Hamilton Police are searching for two males wanted in connection for recent shootings in Hamilton.

Shooting at Market St and Hess St

On June 23, 2024, at about 5:00 a.m., Hamilton Police were dispatched to an alleyway in the area of Market St and Hess St for reports of a shooting.  The victim reported a verbal argument between himself and the accused.  A brief verbal dispute occurred in the alleyway which resulted the accused firing one shot at the victim.  The shot missed and the victim fled unharmed.  The investigation determined that a single round had been fired in what is believed to have been a targeted shooting.

The Shooting Response Team has continued the investigation and can announce an arrest warrant has been issued for 44-year-old Kevin Johnson of Hamilton. He is wanted on the following charges:

• Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm.
•  Knowledge of an unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Assault with a Weapon
• Discharge a Firearm with Intent 
• Fail to Comply with Release Order -2 counts
• Possession of a Firearm contrary to Order – 3 counts

Shooting at Peddles Bar

On August 24, 2024, at about 11:45 p.m., a shooting occurred outside of Peddles Bar located at 1490 Barton Street East. Just prior to the shooting the victims and Cunningham are observed in a minor physical altercation.  The accused briefly left the altercation, but returned a short time later from inside the bar and shot the victims at close range.

As a result of this shooting, two individuals were taken to hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. At the time of the shooting, the patio area of the bar was filled with patrons.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 22-year-old Gary Patrick Cunningham from Beeton, Ontario. Cunningham is wanted on  the following charges:

• Discharge Firearm with Intent X2;
• Aggravated Assault X2;
• Possession of a Prohibited Loaded Firearm;
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm;
• Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.

On September 21, 2024, Hamilton Police received a 911 call around 11:15 p.m. for shots fired in the parking lot of a strip plaza located at the corner of Fennell Ave. E and Upper Gage Ave.  Upon arrival, police located a male victim in his 30s with a gun shot wound and found multiple bullet casings in the plaza.  The victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has since been treated and released.

The Shooting Response Team was called to investigate. Police released the scene at approximately 3:20 a.m. after forensic examination. Several local businesses in the area also sustained damage from the bullets. 

It is early in the investigation and the motive and suspect(s) for this shooting have yet to be identified. The direction of travel and description of the shooter(s) is unknown at this time. 

Investigators are requesting anyone with video in the area of Fennell Ave. E and Upper Gage Ave to please check their surveillance footage between 11:00-11:30 p.m. on September 21 for anyone fleeing the area quickly.

Investigators are seeking witnesses who observed the shooting.  These witnesses are encouraged to come forward and speak to the Shooting Response Team.  At this time, Police have received limited cooperation from the public.  Staff at Coolers bar have been cooperative and have assisted detectives in this investigation.

On Sunday September 15^th, 2024 shortly after 4:30 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to a shooting in the area of Garth St and Garrow Dr.

Police attended and upon arrival, officers immediately secured the area and searched for anyone involved; however, no suspects were located. 

Through continued investigation, police can confirm several shots were fired.  Police are appealing to area residents to check their security cameras between the hours of 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on Sunday September 15^th for any suspicious activity. Shortly before 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2024, Hamilton Police responded to reports of a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the area of Rainbow Drive and Secord Drive. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that a 27-year-old man had been shot. He was transported to hospital for medical treatment and remains in non-life threatening condition.

Investigators are currently working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. At this time in the investigation the shooting is believed to have taken place in the area of Nash Road North and Bancroft Street between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. Anyone with video from the area is asked to check their cameras for any evidence of suspicious activity  between 12:30 a.m. to 2:30 a.m.

On the evening of Sunday, September 1, 2024, shortly before 6:00 p.m., a shooting occurred in the area, prompting an immediate investigation. On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, members of the Emergency Response Unit located the suspect at a downtown location. The suspect was arrested without incident.

The individual arrested is a youth and cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. They remain in custody pending a bail hearing and are facing multiple charges, including:

2. Possession of a Prohibited Loaded Firearm
3. Discharge Firearm with Intent
4. Assault with a Weapon
5. Possession of a Firearm, Contrary to Order
6. Breach Youth Probation Order

On September 1, 2024, around 6:00 p.m., a dispute between several individuals escalated when one person drew and fired a handgun. Thankfully, despite several rounds being fired at multiple people, no one was hit or injured. The suspect, who was wearing a blue tracksuit with a white circular pattern and a black ski mask, was last seen fleeing on foot along Upper Wentworth St. in the Kingfisher Dr. area.

Officers were on patrol around 9:20 p.m. at the Winona Peach Festival when they observed a disturbance break out near the midway between two males. This took place at a time and location that was filled with hundreds of people, including children and families. As officers approached, bystanders alerted them that one suspect had a firearm.

A 23-year-old male was quickly arrested and was found to be in possession of a firearm, with a high-capacity magazine and ammunition. He faces numerous charges, including possessing a loaded firearm and possessing a prohibited weapon. The actions of these officers prevented what could have been a significant tragedy.

At 10:30 p.m., police were called to another disturbance in a parking lot close to the Winona Peach Festival where a group of four males were attacking another male with a baseball bat. The suspects fled when police arrived and the 53-year-old victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Police continue to search for the suspects.

At 11:45 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the parking lot of Peddles Tavern located at 1490 Barton Street East. A 20-year-old male and 28-year-old male sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were uncooperative with police. The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s with dreadlocks and a ponytail, wearing dark clothing and a hoodie.

On August 25, at 6:00 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to shots fired at Club 33, 33 Bowen Street. Upon arrival, police located three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Two males and a female victim were transported to hospital with serious injuries. All victims are in their 20s.

The suspect is described as a white male, with blonde hair, light beard, wearing a black Blue Jays baseball cap, white shirt and black jeans.

There have been ongoing issues with licensed establishments in the area. Hamilton Police continue to work closely with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario to revoke licenses to address the violent incidents at these locations.

Police can confirm a shooting incident occurred and no injuries were reported. It is believed the suspect(s) travelled from the area of 100 St. Andrews Court to 85 Albright Court through a pedestrian pathway, and then west on Albright Road to the area of Montmorency Drive.

Hamilton Police are asking area residents to review their security surveillance cameras between the hours of 12:30 a.m. to 1:45 a.m. for any suspicious activity and to contact police. Detectives are also asking if anyone driving in the area with = dash camera footage to contact investigators.

Investigators received information that Davis may have made his way to Western Canada and had been living in Saanich, British Columbia. The Saanich Police Department were advised by Hamilton Police Service and investigated.

On August 13, 2024, Saanich Police Department contacted Hamilton Police Service to advise Davis had been located and arrested on the outstanding warrant.  Investigators from the Hamilton Police Service Fugitive Apprehension Team returned Davis to Hamilton on August 16, 2024, where he will answer to the following charges:

• Reckless Discharge of a Firearm
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Knowledge of Possession of an Unauthorized Firearm
• Possess Firearm while prohibited
• Failure to stop after accident x 2
• Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
• Possession of a firearm contrary to court order x 2

On Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 3:40 a.m., police responded to a parking lot located at 25 East Avenue North following a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, no evidence of a shooting was discovered. However, investigators with the Shooting Response Team (SRT) have since obtained video footage confirming that a shooting did take place.

Hamilton Police Shooting Response Team is appealing to the community for any information regarding this shooting. The investigation has revealed that other people and vehicles were present in the parking lot at the time of the incident. We are requesting that those individuals come forward and contact investigators.

Additionally, we are asking residents and businesses in the area of East Avenue North, King Street East, and King William Street to review their security and dash camera footage for any evidence that may assist in this investigation.

The suspect in the shooting is described as:

- Male

- Wearing light-coloured pants

- Wearing a baseball hat

- Observed pushing a bicycle

The suspect was seen firing a handgun into the air while walking through the parking lot. Police are releasing video footage to the community in the hope that someone may be able to identify the individual.

Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a dark grey Honda Civic with two male occupants, both wearing blue medical masks.

On July 10, 2024, at approximately 4:50 p.m., police received a 911 call reporting a shooting in the area of Jackson St. E and Walnut St. in the downtown core. Before police arrived, all individuals involved in the shooting had fled the scene. Officers located evidence confirming the shooting upon arrival.

The investigation revealed that a verbal altercation between two groups of males escalated to gunfire. Numerous phone calls indicated that the suspects fled towards an apartment building at 115 Main St. E. Witnesses directed police to a unit within the building. Officers contained the apartment, and the Emergency Response Unit was called. A firearm was also recovered.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and spoke to witnesses, which led to the identification of the 16-year-old shooter.

He is charged with:

• Discharge with Intent
• Reckless Discharge
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm
• Assault with a Weapon
• Obstruction of Justice
• Fail to Comply with Release Order x2

The recent shooting follows a disturbing trend in shootings and youth violence in Hamilton. There is a 162 per cent increase in shootings over this time last year and a 12.7 per cent increase in youth involved in violent crimes compared to the five-year average. The top three youth violent crimes were assault, utter threats and assault with a weapon.

In this case, the youth cannot be identified because of his age. Detectives are encouraging him to speak with counsel and turn himself in.

The three arrested suspects have been interviewed and released pending further investigation by the Shooting Response Team. This incident marks the city’s 34th shooting this year.

Investigators with the Hamilton Police Shooting Response Team have taken over the investigation and have made two arrests. Due to the young age of one suspect, the Hamilton Police Service cannot disclose their identity under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Police believe this shooting was a targeted event related to a dispute between the individuals involved. The following individuals have been arrested and face the following charges:

A 15-year-old male from Hamilton (identity protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act):

2. Aggravated Assault with a Weapon
3. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
4. Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order
5. Fail to Comply – Probation Order

A 21-year-old male from Hamilton:

1. Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
2. Possession of Hydromorphone for the Purpose of Trafficking
3. Proceeds of Crime Over $5000

On Sunday, June 30, 2024 at approximately 4:35a.m., the Hamilton Police Service responded to reports of a shooting along Highway #6 in Flamborough between Concessions 7 and 8.   This shooting originated from a disturbance that had occurred at a large house party taking place in a short-term rental property along Highway #6.  This disturbance continued onto the highway resulting in shots being fired at a car parked on the shoulder of the highway and at another car stopped in a nearby gas station.

One male was located in the parked vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.  He was transported to local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.  The deceased has now been identified as 45-year old Tobenna Obiaga of Halton Region.  

Family have provided a photograph of Tobenna to be released to the media.

Two of the occupants in the vehicle at the nearby gas station also suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds and were later released from hospital.  A fourth person was also injured at the house and was released from hospital with minor injuries that were not firearm-related.  

Witnesses described a dark grey sedan fleeing the scene of the shooting but no further suspect description is available at this time.

Police are still guarding the property and several cars left at the scene pending search warrants being issued later today.  Investigators believe that there are numerous witnesses to this homicide that have not come forward to speak to police and those witnesses are urged to contact the Homicide Unit.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to a reported shooting near Concession 6 E. Upon arriving, police found a male victim with non-life-threatening injuries. The male reported he had been shot at a party located in a nearby short-term rental property. Upon arriving at the property, police learned at least two other victims had fled the scene and one later succumbed to his injuries in a car nearby. A female sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are working to identify the victim and locate next of kin.

There were approximately 60 people in attendance at the party. Investigators are interviewing witnesses to determine what took place. At this time, police do not have a suspect or vehicle description.

Highway 6 is closed in both directions between Concession 6 E and Concession 7 E. Halton Regional Police Service and OPP are assisting with traffic as investigators process the scene.

Officers arrived at the scene on Market Street to find evidence of gunfire. As the investigation unfolds, community members can expect to see our officers continuing to process the scene and canvass for witnesses and video today.

Shortly after 5:00 a.m., on Sunday, June 23, 2024, Hamilton Police responded to a report of possible shots fired in the area of 155 Market Street in the City's downtown. Initial reports indicated the sound of gunfire was heard, with additional information suggesting two suspects were observed fleeing the scene on foot.

Upon arrival, officers secured the scene, although the suspect(s) had already fled the area. Evidence confirmed a shooting had taken place.

No physical injuries have been reported to police at this time in relation to the shooting.

• Baby blue jumpsuit
• Matching baby blue Nike shoes

• White, male 
• Blue sandals
• Couple inches shorter than suspect one

On January 16, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., gunfire erupted in the vicinity of King Street West and Wardrope Avenue. Although no injuries were reported, stray bullets struck several vehicles and buildings, causing significant concern in the community.

Alexander CARNICELLI, 29, of Hamilton, has been charged with:

Eathan GUSTIN-GROLLEMAN, 29, of Hamilton, has been charged with:

1. Assault with a Weapon
2. Three Counts of Possession of Firearm Contrary to Order 
3. Discharge Firearm with Intent
4. Reckless Discharge of a Firearm
5. Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
6. Failure to Stop after an Accident
7. Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Prohibited
8. Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000

10. Fail to Comply with Probation Order

On June 17, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Hamilton Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit arrested La without incident at a Niagara Falls hotel.

La is suspected of involvement in violent incidents across Hamilton, including a daytime shooting on May 30 and an assault on May 13.

When police located La, he had significantly changed his appearance to evade capture. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Alexander La

La has been connected to violent incidents on May 13 and May 30. He is currently evading police and is believed to be intimidating potential witnesses.

Malcolm Davis

Davis is wanted in connection to a shooting on May 13. He is believed to be the driver of a black Nissan that exchanged gunfire in an alleyway in the area of Kinrade Avenue and Barton Street East.

Jonas Campanaro

Campanaro is the suspect in a shooting in the area of King Street East and East Avenue North in Hamilton on May 6. During the incident a bystander was grazed by a stray bullet. 

These individuals are a danger to the public and are considered armed and dangerous. If you see any of these suspects, please call 911 immediately.

Hamilton Police have issued another warrant for the arrest of 23-year-old Alexander La. He has been connected to the May 13 daytime shooting in the area of Cannon St and Kinrade Ave.

A previous warrant was issued for 25-year-old Malcolm Davis of Hamilton. Davis was identified as the Nissan motor vehicle driver that exchanged gunfire before fleeing the scene and crashing. Davis then fled the scene on foot. He remains outstanding.

The other party involved in the shooting was seen on CCTV firing a gun in an alleyway at the Nissan, then firing more shots on Cannon St. This suspect has been identified as Alexander La.

• He is facing the following offences for the May 13 incident:
• Reckless Discharge of a Firearm – s. 244.2(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – s. 91(3) of the Criminal Code 
• Knowledge of an Unauthorized possession of a Firearm – s. 92(1) of the Criminal Code
• Possession of Firearm contrary to Order – s. 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order X 2 – s. 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code
• Possession of a Prohibited Firearm – s. 95(1) of the Criminal Code
• Discharge Firearm with Intent – s. 244 (1) of the Criminal Code

La is also wanted for an incident on May 30.

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024, Hamilton Police received a 911 call from a 38-year-old man reporting that he had been shot. Uniform Patrol officers promptly responded, gathered initial information, and initiated an investigation. Shortly thereafter, police received reports of two suspicious individuals wearing masks running into a wooded area. Officers attended the scene, located, and arrested a 17-year-old suspect, recovering a firearm during the arrest. The search for the second suspect continued through a golf course, trails and and rural treed areas. As of 1:20 p.m., the second suspect remains outstanding.

The outstanding suspect is described as a black male, wearing a gray hoodie and dark blue pants, and was seen wearing a blue surgical mask at the time of the incident.

Investigators have recovered the stolen black SUV linked to the suspects. The 38-year-old shooting victim remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The arrested 17-year-old male is facing multiple charges, including:

• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
• Two Counts of Breach of Recognizance
• Possession of a Prohibited Firearm
• Discharge Firearm with Intent
• Aggravated Assault
• Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was a Firearm

Investigators have confirmed that the 911 shooting call, the suspicious individual report, and the recovered stolen vehicle are all connected to the initial shooting incident.

The investigation is ongoing as police continue efforts to identify the second suspect involved in the shooting. Investigators thank the public for their assistance, which has been crucial in the timely identification of an offender who was involved in recklessly discharging a firearm in public.

On Friday, May 31, 2024, shortly after 11:00 a.m., police responded to shots fired in the area of Market Street and Caroline Street. Witnesses in the area stated observing multiple suspects running from the scene.

Police located multiple casings in the area, however no victims were located.

The Hamilton Police Service – Shooting Response Team (SRT) has continued to investigate that shooting and can announce that three people have been arrested and charged in relation to the incident. At this time, the firearm used in the incident has not been recovered. 

The following individuals face charges:

 Daud HUSSEIN NOOR, a 21-year-old male from Hamilton.

• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose 
• Assault with a Weapon 

Noor was arrested on June 1, 2024, after police were dispatched to a local bar where a firearm was observed by patrons.  When police arrived at the bar, three males fled on foot, including Noor.  He was arrested by responding patrol officers.  A firearm was recovered by police. In addition to the California Dream Lounge charges, Noor also faces additional charged related to the June 1 incident. These include:

• Possession of loaded Prohibited Firearm
• CDSA 5(2) Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl 
• Proceeds of Crime Under $5000.00
• FTC Release Order 

Zakaria HASSAN ADAM, a 26-year-old male from Hamilton. He is charged with the following offences in relation to the California Dream Lounge shooting: 

•  Reckless Discharge of a Firearm 
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

Adam was arrested on June 2, 2024, after police responded to the Sankofa Bar, located at 92 Jackson St. E. in Hamilton for a minor vehicle collision.  Upon arrival at the bar, police were able to conduct a traffic stop on Adam who was operating a stolen vehicle.  Upon arrest, police recovered a firearm. Adam also faces additional charges in relation to the June 2 incident, including:

• Possession of prohibited loaded firearm 
• Point firearm x2
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking CDSA 5(2) x2 - Percocet and Cocaine
• Proceeds of Crime Under $5000 
• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

Stefan TISER, a 45-year-old male from Hamilton.  He is charged with the following offences in relation to the California Dream Lounge shooting:

•  Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

Tiser has no connection to Adam or Noor as he is charged in relation to picking up a discarded firearm at the scene.  This firearm has not been recovered.

Investigators are requesting area residents to check their surveillance systems between the hours of midnight and 1:30 a.m. for the following suspect: 

• Male
• Asian
• Red hoodie
• Red pants

The male suspect is believed to have attended the address last night looking for a specific person.  He was directed to leave the residence by the three victims, a disturbance then ensued resulting in the three victims being shot. The male suspect fled on foot.  His last known direction of travel is to be determined.  All three victims are males in their 50s.

There were approximately eight people in the residence at the time of the shooting. No one else was injured.  The investigators would like to thank area residents for their cooperation with this investigation.

Solomon was arrested after being observed by police during a criminal investigation in Hamilton’s downtown core. Unaware that he was wanted, officers attempted to make the arrest before Solomon fled. He was pursued and eventually apprehended. At that time, officers discovered Solomon was wanted for an earlier shooting in Hamilton and a suspect in a Waterloo homicide.

On Monday, July 22, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a disturbance call in the area of King Street West and Caroline Street North for multiple people fighting in a parking lot. Upon arrival police discovered evidence of a shooting. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from the incident.

Solomon is scheduled to appear in bail court this afternoon.

On Sunday, May 26, 2024, shortly after 10:00 p.m., a vehicle arrived at 2 Oriole Crescent. An individual was observed standing out of the sunroof of the vehicle and fired multiple rounds at nearby vehicles and residences. No physical injuries have been reported to police.

The vehicle used in this shooting has been identified and recovered by investigators. Police are seeking the suspects involved in this shooting. One suspect can be observed standing out of the sunroof of the vehicle shown in the video clips. The suspect was observed to be wearing a black or dark-coloured hoodie and a blue medical mask.

Hamilton Police are asking residents in the area to review their security surveillance between the hours of 9:50 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2024, for any suspicious activity. Furthermore, if you were driving in the area and have dashcam footage that you feel would be suitable for review, please contact investigators.

The driver of the Nissan vehicle involved in the incident, who returned fire during the exchange, has been identified as Malcolm Davis, 25, of Hamilton. After striking two other vehicles in an attempt to flee, Davis crashed the vehicle near Gibson Avenue and fled the scene on foot.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Malcolm Davis, who is wanted for the following offences:

Discharge with Intent - Section 244(1) of the Criminal Code, for shooting a firearm at an unknown person on May 13, 2024.
Reckless Discharge of a Firearm - Section 244.2(1)(b) of the Criminal Code, for recklessly endangering the safety of others in the area of Cannon Street East and Kinrade Avenue on May 13, 2024.
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm - Section 91(1) of the Criminal Code, for possessing a handgun on May 13, 2024.
Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm - Section 92(2) of the Criminal Code, for knowing he was not authorized to possess a handgun on May 13, 2024.
Possession of a Prohibited Firearm - Loaded - Section 95(1) of the Criminal Code, for possessing a loaded prohibited firearm on May 13, 2024.
Failure to Stop After an Accident - Section 320.16(1) of the Criminal Code, for failing to stop after colliding with a blue Hyundai motor vehicle at 33 Gibson Avenue on May 13, 2024.
Failure to Stop After an Accident - Section 320.16(1) of the Criminal Code, for failing to stop after colliding with a yellow Fiat motor vehicle at the intersection of Wilson Street and Gibson Avenue on May 13, 2024.
Dangerous Operation - Section 320.13(1) of the Criminal Code, for operating a motor vehicle on Cannon Street East while shooting a firearm out of the window, fleeing at high speed, and crashing into two motor vehicles on May 13, 2024.
Possession Contrary to Order - Section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code, for possessing a firearm on May 13, 2024, while prohibited by an order issued on December 18, 2018, by Justice Zivolak.

Malcolm Davis should be considered armed and dangerous. If you encounter him, please call 911 immediately.
Investigators are encouraging Davis to seek legal counsel and turn himself in to police.

The investigation is ongoing as police continue efforts to identify the first suspect who shot at Davis in the alleyway. 
Investigators thank the public for their assistance, which has been crucial in the timely identification of an offender who recklessly discharged a firearm in public.

Upon arrival, officers secured the scene, although the suspect(s) had already fled the area. Evidence revealed damage to vehicles, including shattered windows, and residences in the area were found with bullet holes on windows. Shell casings were discovered in various locations, including on the roadway.

It has been confirmed that the shooting incident occurred from a moving vehicle, last seen traveling north on Oriole Crescent.

No physical injuries have been reported to police at this time in relation to the shooting.

There have been 22 shootings in Hamilton since January 2024, which is an increase over the previous year. During the same period last year, Hamilton experienced 10 shootings and saw a decline in the overall number of shootings in 2023. This is the highest number of shootings year-to-date since 2019.

“Do not let the reckless actions of a few define our community’s safety. As a community, we cannot accept or tolerate this level of violence. We can’t become complacent in response to these increasingly brazen acts,” says Chief Frank Bergen.”

While the majority of incidents are targeted, recent shootings have taken place near a daycare and a busy alleyway with children walking home from school.

In response to the increase in shootings over the past five years, Hamilton Police Service recently made its Shooting Response Team (SRT) a permanent addition to the Investigative Services Division (ISD).

The SRT had been a year-long pilot project aimed at addressing non-lethal shootings across Hamilton. The team's mission is to tackle incidents of reckless gunfire that result in serious injuries or endanger individuals and properties, enhancing safety in our community.

According to Superintendent Marty Schulenberg, "Shootings, whether or not they result in a victim, severely undermine our community's sense of safety. The Shooting Response Team dedicates investigative resources to address these incidents and apprehend those responsible.”

To date, the team has carried out 62 investigations, leading to the arrest of 27 individuals for a total of 255 charges. Of the 27 persons arrested, 56 per cent already had a weapon/firearm charge.

Generally, victims and witnesses have been uncooperative in sharing information. However, a recent shooting saw the community come out to preserve evidence and assist police in the investigation. Hamilton Police are encouraging individuals who may have witnessed any of the recent shootings to come forward or share information anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

Sherman Avenue South

Hamilton Police continue their investigation into the gunfire incident in the Sherman Avenue South and Main Street East area and are now releasing video footage of the suspects involved. All three suspects were last seen running southbound on Blake Street from Maplewood Avenue shortly before midnight on Friday, May 17, 2024. The investigation began on May 18, 2024, after reports of gunfire. Evidence was later found on May 20, 2024, confirming shots had been fired shortly before midnight on May 17, 2024. Enhanced patrols have been deployed in the area to ensure community safety and gather further evidence.

Congress Crescent

In the early morning on May 10, 2024, Hamilton Police Service responded to 30 Congress Cres in the city’s east end for a shooting. Multiple shots were fired into the building’s front entrance. There are no reported injuries and it remains unclear if there was an intended victim.

Investigators are still looking to identify a reported beige SUV that contained an occupant with a firearm. The vehicle was last seen leaving 30 Congress Cres and fleeing east bound. It is unknown how many occupants were in the vehicle.

Kinrade Avenue

On May 13, 2024, just before 5:00 p.m., Hamilton Police received multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire near Barton Street East and Kinrade Avenue. Officers were immediately dispatched and confirmed a shooting had occurred. Witnesses reported an exchange of gunfire involving several individuals, with bullets found in buildings, vehicles, garages, and roadways. A vehicle believed to be involved was found abandoned nearby, but the suspects remain at large.

“Someone knows these individuals who are carrying loaded firearms with no regard for public safety. We urge the community to do the right thing and come forward to assist with these investigations,” says Chief Bergen.
