Back on April 20, 2023, a student returned to where he had securely locked his bicycle during school hours, only to discover that it had been stolen after the lock had been cut. Fortunately, the police were provided with a detailed description of the bicycle along with its serial number.

Fast forward to Monday, May 6, 2024, when police responded to complaints from neighbors about suspicious activity at a vacant home. Upon arrival, they found the property deserted but noticed a bicycle placed in the kitchen. Upon running a check, it was confirmed that the bicycle matched the description of one on file as stolen.

Thanks to the serial number on file, the police were able to successfully trace the bicycle back to its owner.

The suspects were operating a dark coloured Dodge Ram pick-up truck. There were no physical injuries reported by the victims to police. The robbery is believed to be targeted at this time.

Suspect descriptions are four black males wearing balaclavas and dark hooded sweatshirts and pants. All suspects are believed to be in their 20s.

Hamilton Police are asking residents in the area to review their security surveillance cameras between the hours of 4:15 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. for any suspicious activity and to contact police. Detectives are also asking if you were driving in the area and have dash camera footage that would be suitable for review please contact the investigators.

In mid-June 2020, Hamilton Police received a report of a commercial break and enter to an automotive business in the east end of Hamilton. During the incident, a Ford F150 pick-up truck was stolen. Over the course of four months, several commercial entries took place in the Hamilton area. The Hamilton Bear Unit has continued to investigate these incidents and has established a connection. The pick-up truck stolen from the June entry is believed to be involved in four commercial entries:

• August 23, 2020, entry to a business on Stonechurch Road East where a large number of vacuum cleaners and home healthcare items were stolen.

• August 26, 2020, entry to a pharmacy on Queenston Road in Stoney Creek. Pharmaceutical drugs and products valued in the area of $100,000 were stolen.

• September 24, 2020, entry to a car dealership on Upper James Street. Tools and automotive supplies were stolen.

• October 16, 2020, entry to a business in the Nebo Road area. A large quantity of sanitizer and cleaning supplies were stolen.

On Wednesday November 4, 2020, members of the Hamilton Police Service executed search warrants at two residences located in the east end of Hamilton and Hannon, Ontario. Located inside the residences were two shotguns, ammunition, over $100,000 in stolen pharmaceuticals, approximately $100,000 in stolen property and a quantity of cocaine. The items were all seized as evidence.

During the course of the investigation three adults were arrested. Their matter was brought before the court system on Wednesday, November 4, where they faced numerous charges related to firearms, commercial entries and possession of stolen property and drugs.

This investigation remains ongoing and detectives anticipate proceeding with additional arrests and criminal charges.

Since the release of the story, our victim has received many generous offers to replace his trike and he wants to send his appreciation.

A Hamilton man has had his mobility severely restricted after a thief stole his unique tricycle from an underground parking lot at his residence. The Schwinn Meridian Adult Comfort Trike is the male’s sole method of transportation and was stolen shortly after 12:30 a.m. on October 28, 2019.

On October 28, 2019, a resident living at the Olympia Apartments on 150 Charlton Avenue East in Hamilton filed a police report regarding his stolen bike. The apartment video shows a male waiting outside for an opportunity to slip through the garage door when a vehicle enters. He then targets the bike and cuts off two securing locks. Prior to leaving, he blocks the garage door sensors so it will remain open, allowing him to easily ride the bike out.

The owner of the tricycle has limited mobility and the loss of the bike has significantly impacted his independence. The tricycle is distinctive and the likelihood of another bike being used locally would be unusual.

Hamilton Police are seeking witnesses and asking residents to check their security systems for any suspicious activity that may have occurred in the areas of Upper Wellington Street and Brucedale Avenue or Thayer Avenue and East 16^th Street in Hamilton on Monday night between 11:30 p.m., and midnight.

On October 22, 2019, shortly after midnight, Police received a 9-1-1 call for three suspects that had entered a residence in the area of Upper Wellington Street and Brucedale Avenue. The suspects ransacked the residence and confronted a female occupant who was sleeping in a bedroom. The male occupant returned to the residence shortly after and was confronted by one of the suspects who was armed with a firearm. The male occupant believed he heard a shot fired by one of the suspects as he fled the residence.

All three suspects fled the area in the homeowner's rented vehicle, last seen travelling northbound on Upper Wellington Street from Brucedale Avenue. A cell phone belonging to the male occupant was recovered in the area of Thayer Avenue and East 16^th Street.

Police believe this was a targeted incident. No one was injured.

Divisions three, Criminal Investigation Detectives, are following up this investigation and will be canvassing the area for witnesses and video surveillance throughout the day today.

On August 26, 2019, shortly after 10:00 a.m. police conducted a routine traffic stop in the area of Woodward Avenue and Glow Avenue in Hamilton. The 2012 Hyundai was occupied by a male driver and passenger. The driver was unable to provide police with any identification. However, through further investigation police identified that the male was wanted by HPS for fail to appear court so he was arrested on the strength of the warrant.

While searching the vehicle police observed in plain view a large bronze plaque and backpack with break and enter tools inside sitting on the back seat of the vehicle. The plaque was 2x4 feet in size, weighing 150-200 lbs with a depiction of the Dieppe Veterans Memorial Park and a caption detailing the single bloodiest day for the Canadian Military during WW2.

Police believed at this time the plaque had been stolen and continued with his investigation. The officer located the Dieppe Veterans Memorial Park at 1033 Beach Boulevard in Hamilton, approximately 3 km away from the traffic stop.

Police attended the park and found the plaque to be missing.

The value of the plaque is estimated at $30,000.

Both males were arrested for theft and possession of the stolen property and transported to Central Custody with their bail opposed.

On Thursday, August 9, 2019, at approximatley 3:00 p.m., Hamilton Police Officers observed two males exit a vehicle which had just parked beside a motorcycle in the area of Catherine Street North and Murray Street. After exiting the vehicle one of the males started the motorcycle with a vice grip. Observing this suspicious activity police subsequently detained the two males and began an investigation. As a result, one of the males was arrested for an outstanding warrant and police learned the motorcycle was stolen. The second male was arrested for possession of the stolen property.

The investigation led to the seizure of one (1) kilogram of Methamphetamine and a quantity of Cocaine. As a result of the investigation, police have charged a total of four people with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property and proceeds of crime. They were all taken into police custody and held for a bail hearing.

The investigation remains open as police continue to review the evidence seized and additional charges could be laid at a later date.

On May 13, 2019, shortly before 7:30 a.m., police received a call about a vehicle driving erratically on two flat tires in the area of Upper James and Rymal Road, Hamilton.

Police located a Ford Escape driving northbound on Upper James Street by the Lincoln Alexander Parkway (LINC). When police approached the vehicle there was evidence of heavy damage underneath, two popped tires and a front side headlight smashed.

Police identified the male passenger was wanted by Niagara Regional Police for Fail to Attend Court and the driver was unlicensed. Further investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen from a Welland resident shortly after 10:00 p.m. on May 12, 2019.

The driver and passenger were placed under arrest and charged with the following offences.

On Tuesday, April 30, 2019, shortly after 9:00 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of Wilson Street and Wellington Street North to assist a neghbouring police agency with an investigation. Once on scene, police received information which detailed their surveillance of a 17-year-old male suspect from Hamilton. While monitoring the male, a second male operating a Kia Forte drove up to the suspect. A background check was conducted on the vehicle and it was learned it had been reported stolen by Hamilton Police. The two males were arrested for possession of stolen property. Through investigation police located illicit drugs, drug paraphernalia, bear spray and evidence to suspect trafficking of drugs within the vehicle. All items with evidentiary value were seized by police.

The driver of the Kia Forte, a 21-year-old-man from Hamilton was turned over to Hamilton Police. He was subsequently taken into police custody and will be charged accordingly. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, to answer to several charges.

The 17-year-old-male was taken into custody by the neighbouring agency in relation to their initial investigation. The male will be summonsed to court in the near future to answer to the identical charges laid against the 21-year-old.

The owner of the Kia Forte was contacted by police, attended the scene and the vehicle was returned to her.
