On Thursday, May 28, 2020, at approximately 6:30 a.m. a Hamilton Police officer was travelling northbound on Highway 6 near Concession #5 when he noted an ongoing vehicle had crossed over the centre line and was travelling at a rate that exceeded the posted speed limit. Once the vehicle passed the fully marked cruiser, the officer changed his direction and located the vehicle a short time later as it was held up with traffic.

While interacting with the 42-year-old man from Kitchener, police believed he was operating his vehicle while under the influence of a drug. He was arrested and taken into police custody. Through continued investigation, police located evidence of cannabis in the immediate area of the driver.'s seat. The evidence was seized for court proceedings.

The male is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, October 5, 2020, to answer to several charges.

On Saturday, May 23, 2020, shortly before 4:00 p.m., Hamilton Police were conducting speed enforcement on Nikola Tesla Boulevard. At that time, a white tow truck was observed operating at a speed considerably faster than the posted speed limit.

Through investigation, police learned the vehicle was travelling at 113 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone. A traffic stop was conducted and police confirmed the driver was a 44-year-old Caledonia man with a valid licence to operate a tow truck. The driver was arrested during the investigation. He was later released and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, by way of court summons to answer to the charges.

Through investigation, police learned the vehicle was travelling at 135 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone. A traffic stop was conducted and police confirmed the driver was a 20-year-old Glanbrook man with a G2-class licence.

On Thursday, February 6, 2020, shortly before 7:30 a.m., police were conducting speed enforcement on the Red Hill Valley Parkway near King Street. At that time a black Nissan Rogue was observed travelling at a speed faster than the posted speed limit.

Through investigation, police learned the vehicle was travelling at 133 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone. The road conditions were not ideal due to the ongoing snowfall. A traffic stop was conducted and police confirmed the driver was a 40-year-old Ancaster man with a G-class licence. Accompanying the driver in the vehicle were two children.

The driver is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, March 5, 2020, by way of court summons, to answer to the charges.

On Tuesday, November 19, 2019, shortly before 11:00 p.m., a Binbrook patrol officer was conducting speed enforcement on Regional Road 56 at Golf Club Road when he observed a silver Honda Pilot SUV travelling at a speed faster than the posted speed limit. Through investigation, police learned the vehicle was travelling at 128 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone. A traffic stop was conducted and police confirmed the driver was a 35-year-old Stoney Creek woman with a G class licence.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m., the same officer observed a Honda Accord sedan travelling southbound on RR56 at a speed faster than the posted speed limit. Through investigation, police learned the vehicle was travelling at 131 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone. A traffic stop was conducted and police confirmed the driver was a 29-year-old Binbrook man with a valid G-2 class licence.

Both drivers are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, by way of court summons, to answer to the stunt driving and speeding charges.

On Thursday, October 31, 2019, shortly before 11:30 p.m., while on proactive patrol a Hamilton Police officer observed a Toyota SUV attempting to pass a BMW sedan as they were travelling eastbound on Queenston Road approaching Lake Avenue. Once at the intersection the vehicles stopped for the red light. When the signal changed to green, both vehicles sped off and maintained a speed which exceeded the posted speed limit for several blocks. The officer was able to safely stop both vehicles in the area of Queenston Road and Gray Road.

A traffic stop was conducted and police confirmed the drivers held valid licences.

Both drivers are scheduled to appear in court in late November by way of court summons, to answer to the charge of Stunt Driving.

On Sunday, October 27, 2019, shortly after 7:30 a.m., police were conducting speed enforcement on Nikola Tesla Boulevard near Kenilworth Avenue North. At that time a Hyundai Elantra was observed travelling at a speed faster than the posted speed limit.

Hamilton Police has seized the driver’s licence and vehicle of a 63-year-old Stoney Creek man after he was caught stunt driving. He is scheduled to appear in court in mid-October, where if found guilty he will face more severe penalties.

On Wednesday, September 18, 2019, shortly after 4:30 p.m., while travelling eastbound on Mud Street near Second Road East, Hamilton, police observed a westbound GMC Sierra pick-up truck that appeared to be travelling more than the posted speed limit.

Through investigation, police learned the vehicle was travelling at 129 km/hr in a posted 70 km/hr zone. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 63-year-old Stoney Creek man with a G class licence, provided the appropriate documentation.

The driver is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, October 16, 2019, by way of court summons, to answer to the provincial offence charges.

On Monday, September 9, 2019, shortly before 5:30 p.m., a Hamilton Police officer conducting proactive traffic enforcement observed a vehicle travelling southbound on Valens Road approaching Concession 4, Rockton. The vehicle’s speed appeared to be in excess of the posted speed- 70 km/hr. The officer conducted an investigation into the vehicle‘s speed and confirmed it was travelling at 165 km/hr.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 32-year-old man from Cambridge provided the appropriate documents which were determined to be in order.

The driver was issued a court summons and is scheduled to appear on Monday, October 7, 2019, to answer to the charge of stunt driving.

In accordance with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, the driver’s licence was immediately suspended for seven days and the vehicle, a 2015 GMC Sierra pick-up truck was seized and will be impounded for the same period of time.

On August 28, 2019, shortly after 2:00 p.m., police was conducting speed enforcement in the area of First Road East and Mud Street East in Hamilton. Police observed a red 2008 Chevrolet Silverado Tow Truck passing another vehicle at an astonishing rate of speed as it travelled southbound on First Road East. The vehicle was lased at 130 km/hr at a posted 60 km/hr zone.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was issued a summons to attend court for speeding and stunt driving. As a result of the offences, the driver’s licence has been suspended for seven days and his vehicle impounded for the same period.

On Wednesday, August 21, 2019, shortly before 6:30 a.m., a Hamilton Police officer was travelling westbound on the Highway #6 by-pass, west of the Airport Road off-ramp. A white Volkswagen Jetta appeared to be operating above the posted speed limit of 80 km/hr. The officer conducted an investigation and confirmed it was travelling at 144 km/hr.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 24-year-old man from Waterloo provided the appropriate documents which were determined to be in order.

The driver has issued a court summons and is scheduled to appear on Monday, September 16, 2019, to answer to the charge of stunt driving.

Shortly before 8:30 a.m., a second officer was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Pritchard Road and Harlowe Road, when a black Honda Accord was observed travelling northbound on Pritchard Road. The vehicle entered a southbound lane to overpass traffic. The vehicle’s speed appeared to be above the posted speed limit of 50 km/hr. The officer conducted an investigation and confirmed it was travelling at 106 km/hr.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as a 14-year-old male from Hamilton. He was operating his parent’s vehicle without a licence and failed to produce suitable vehicle documents.

The youth was issued several court documents and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, September 16, 2019, to answer to the charges.

On Saturday, July 20, 2019, shortly before 11:30 p.m., Hamilton Police officers proactively patrolled the area of Queenston Road and Nash Road in response to information received regarding driving complaints. At that time a burgundy Buick sedan was observed exiting the parking lot on the southeast corner. The vehicle engine revved as it conducted a 'burnout' for approximately 3-5 seconds resulting in smoke coming from the rear tires. It then sped off eastbound on Queenston. Police followed the vehicle and a traffic stop was conducted.

The driver, a 24-year-old male from Hamilton, surrendered the appropriate documents and was arrested for stunt driving. He was subsequently released with a court summons scheduled for August 19, 2019. His licence and vehicle were seized for seven days under the Ministry of Transportation regulations.

On Sunday, July 21, 2019, shortly after 10:00 p.m., police observed a group of vehicles speeding as they travelled westbound from the Queenston Road and Nash Road North area. Police followed the group which consisted of cars and motorcycles. The group stopped at the intersection of King Street East and Sherman Avenue North. At that time police observed a red Nissan 350Z and a blue BMW stop side by side at the traffic control. Both drivers revved their vehicles and as the light turned green they sped off. The drivers continued these actions at several intersections. Police were unable to safely stop the BMW; however, after several turns and rapid accelerations by the Nissan driver, police were able to conduct a traffic stop at Main Street East and Gage Avenue South.

The driver, a 26-year-old male from Hamilton, surrendered the appropriate documents and was arrested for stunt driving. He was subsequently released with a court summons scheduled for August 19, 2019. His licence and vehicle were seized for seven days under the Ministry of Transportation regulations.

Through investigation, police identified the driver of the BMW. Efforts will be made to contact him to lay additional charges.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m., police observed a silver Dodge Journey squeal its tires as it left a parking lot on the southeast corner of Queenston Road and Nash Road North. The vehicle continued eastbound on Queenston Road. It was followed by a grey Mazda 3 which mounted the curb and cut off another vehicle exiting the lot. The Mazda 3 drove off in the direction of the Journey. Officers continued after the two vehicles and located them near the intersection of Queenston Road and Greenford Drive.

Police noted the Journey had significant rear-end damage to the passenger's side and minor damage to the driver's side. The three occupants; a male 18-year-old driver, a 16-year-old male passenger and a 17-year-old female passenger, did not receive any injuries.

The Mazda 3 was observed disabled in the roadway with significant damage to the front driver's side. The lone occupant of the vehicle advised of some minor pain in his right leg but declined medical treatment.

Through investigation, police determined the Mazda struck the Journey from the rear, resulting in the Journey striking a hydro pole. The roadway was closed to allow for an investigation. 

The driver of the Mazda, a 23-year-old Hamilton man was arrested for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

He was later released with an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, August 20, 2019.

Anyone charged with stunt driving or any of the related offences, if found guilty in court, penalties imposed could result in a fine between $2000 - $10,000, up to six months in jail and a two-year licence suspension.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 34-year-old woman from Hamilton provided the appropriate documents which were determined to be in order.

The driver was issued two court summons and is scheduled to appear on Monday, August 12, 2019, to answer to the charges of stunt driving and speeding.

In accordance with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, the driver’s licence has been suspended for seven days and the vehicle, a 2018 Mercedes GLC 300 was seized and will be impounded for the same period of time.

On Monday, July 15, 2019, shortly after 1:00 a.m., while proactively patrolling Upper Gage Avenue near Stonechurch Road police observed two vehicles travelling southbound on Upper Gage. At the same time, a black Volkswagen Jetta quickly approached them from the rear, changed lanes and sped past. An investigation into the Jetta’s speed confirmed the vehicle was travelling at 136 km/hr in a posted 50 km/hr zone.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, an 18-year-old man from Hamilton with a G2 driver’s licence was arrested for stunt driving and secured in the police cruiser. The appropriate documents were reviewed by police and determined to be in order.

The driver was subsequently released and will appear in court in mid-August, to answer to the charges of stunt driving and speeding.

In accordance with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, the driver’s licence has been suspended for seven days and the vehicle which was a rental under another driver was been impounded for the same period of time.

If found guilty in court, the penalties for stunt driving could include a fine between $2000 - $10,000, up to six months in jail and a two-year licence suspension.

A short time later a grey Ford Focus was observed travelling southbound on Highway 6 at a speed that exceeded other traffic. Investigation revealed the Focus’ speed was 165 km/hr.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 24-year-old man from St. Catherines provided the appropriate documents as requested by police.

The driver was subsequently ordered to appear in court in early August, to answer to the charges of stunt driving and speeding.

A short time later a red four-door BMW was observed travelling at a speed that exceeded other traffic. Investigation revealed the BMW’s speed was 117 km/hr.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 19-year-old man from Hamilton provided the appropriate documents as requested by police.

During the investigation, police noted the vehicle licence plates were obstructed by plastic tinted covers.

The driver was subsequently ordered to appear in court on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, to answer to the charges of stunt driving and obstructed licence plate.

In accordance with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, the driver’s licence has been suspended for seven days and the vehicle has been impounded for the same period of time.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 33-year-old man from Glanbrook provided

On Tuesday, June 4, 2019, shortly before 1:30 a.m., while conducting proactive speed enforcement, police observed a vehicle travelling well above the posted speed limit as it proceeded northbound on Regional Road 56 at Cemetery Road. The posted speed is a 50 km/h zone. An investigation into the speed of the vehicle confirmed it was operating at 102 km/hr. A traffic stop was conducted on a 2014 green Ford Fusion which was being operated by a female driver. The driver produced a valid licence with a G2 classification.

Police issued two court summons; Speeding and Stunt Driving.

The driver is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, to answer to the charges.

According to the Highway Traffic Act, the vehicle has been impounded for seven days and the driver’s licence has been suspended for the same period of time.

On Monday, May 6, 2019, shortly after 1:00 a.m., a Hamilton Police officer was conducting mobile proactive traffic enforcement on Trinity Church Road near Golf Club Road. At that time a silver Acura SUV was observed travelling at a high rate of speed southbound on Trinity Church. The investigation revealed the vehicle’s speed was 132 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver an 18-year-old-Glandbrook man who held a G2 driver’s licence provided the appropriate documents as requested by police.

As a result of the offences, the driver’s licence has been suspended for seven days and his parents' vehicle impounded for the same period.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 3, 2019, to answer to the charges

On Sunday, April 28, 2019, shortly before 11:30 a.m., a Ford Ranger pick-up truck was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. At the time the officer was conducting speed enforcement on Dartnall Road near Rymal Road East. As the vehicle continued southbound on Dartnall, police determined the speed was 114km/h in a posted 50km/h zone.

A traffic stop was initiated where the driver identified himself with valid documentation. He was subsequently arrested for stunt driving and speeding.

A background check of the driver revealed he was a parolee. The appropriate agency was notified by police and the driver was released in accordance with the regulations.

The vehicle was seized for seven days and the driver’s licence suspended for the same period. The driver is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, May 27, 2019, to answer to the charges.

On Sunday, April 21, 2019, at approximately 7:00 p.m., police were in the area of Main Street East and King Street East when they heard the sounds of two engines racing. A blue Subura BRZ and black Chev Cobalt were observed travelling a high rate of speed on Main Street. The vehicles passed the officer and continued along Main Street. Several blocks later police were able to safely stop both vehicles. Through investigation, it was determined the vehicles were in fact racing.

Both drivers have been issued a Provincial Court Summons for "Race a Motor Vehicle" under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. They are scheduled to appear in court on Monday, May 13, 2019. Their licence has been suspended for seven days and their vehicles impounded for the same period.

The Cobalt driver was also charged with stunt driving in 2018.

On Wednesday, April 10, 2019, shortly after 1:30 a.m., a Hamilton Police officer was conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Regional Road 56 at Cemetery Road. At that time a grey SUV was observed travelling at a high rate of speed southbound on RR56. The investigation revealed the vehicle’s speed was 131 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver a 39-year-old-Glanbrook man provided the appropriate documents as requested by police.

As a result of the offences the driver’s licence has been suspended for seven days and his vehicle impounded for the same period.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, to answer to the charges

On Sunday, March 24, 2019, shortly before 11:00 a.m., Hamilton Police observed a motor vehicle travelling northbound on Centennial Parkway near Webster Road at a high rate of speed. At the same time, the officer was travelling in the opposite direction. Police activated their speed calculating equipment and confirmed the vehicle’s speed exceeded the posted speed limit of 70 km/hr.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 41-year-old Hamilton was issued two court summonses for Stunt Driving and Speeding 134km/hr in a posted 70 km/hr zone. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, April 29, 2019, to answer to the charges.

In accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, the driver’s licence has been suspended for seven days and the vehicle has been impounded for the same period.

Spring is upon us and Hamilton Police are reminding drivers there will be a continued zero-tolerance approach to Stunt Driving.

On Sunday, March 17, 2019, shortly before noon, Hamilton Police conducted speed enforcement in the area of Jerseyville Road West and Alberton Road. At that time a black Ford Focus was observed operating at a high rate of speed eastbound on Jerseyville. An investigation into its speed determined the vehicle was travelling 124km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 21-year-old Brantford man was arrested for Stunt Driving. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, April 15, 2019, to answer to several Highway Traffic Act infractions.

The Ford Focus has been impounded for seven days.

Hamilton Police are reminding drivers that Stunt Driving, Aggressive Driving and Speeding will not be tolerated. A zero tolerance approach will be taken by police as the safety of everyone is paramount.

On Monday, March 4, 2019, shortly after 1:00 a.m., police were conducting speed enforcement on westbound traffic at Queenston Road east of Red Hill Valley Parkway. At that time a black Toyota Camry was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. The investigation revealed the vehicle was operating at 145 km/hr in a posted 50 km/hr zone. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver a 23- year-old Hamilton man was arrested for Stunt Driving.

The driver was issued a court summons for Stunt Driving. He is scheduled to appear in court in early April. The vehicle which is co-registered has been impounded for seven days.

On Monday, March 4, 2019, shortly before 12:00 a.m., while on proactive patrol, police observed as a grey Chevrolet Cruze travelling southbound on Kenilworth Avenue South approaching Monterey Avenue. The vehicle appeared to be travelling at a high rate of speed.

A traffic stop was conducted and during the conversation with the driver, the officer noted the fresh odour of cannabis from the motor vehicle's cabin area. Police then observed a small plastic bag of cannabis protruding from the sweatshirt pocket of the driver, which appeared to be unsealed. Through investigation, police seized a second bag of cannabis from within the cabin along with a plastic jar containing crack cocaine, over 500 unmarked cigarettes and drug paraphernalia.

The driver was subsequently arrested.

On Wednesday, December 5, 2018, shortly before 10:00 p.m., Hamilton Police were on proactive patrol on Upper Wentworth Street near Stonechurch Road when a white Ford F-150 was observed committing a Highway Traffic Act offence before entering the roadway. The vehicle, now travelling northbound on Upper Wentworth proceeded to accelerate a high rate of speed, overtaking traffic. It is believed the vehicle reached a speed of 126 km/hr before police were able to safely conduct a traffic stop. The posted speed limit for Upper Wentworth is 50 km/hr.

The driver, a 23-year-old Hamilton man was arrested for Stunt Driving. Investigation revealed his driver’s licence was suspended.

Police have issued the driver two court summons in relation to the incident. He will appear on Thursday, January 10, 2019, to answer to the charges.

The vehicle was seized in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act for seven days.

On Sunday, October 14, 2018, shortly after 11:00 a.m., police were conducting speed enforcement on Nikola Tesla Boulevard at Ottawa Street North, Hamilton. A blue Jeep Wrangler was observed travelling westbound on Nikola Tesla Boulevard at a high rate of speed. Investigation revealed the vehicle was allegedly travelling 116km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone.

The vehicle has been impounded for seven days. The driver, a 21-year-old Stoney Creek woman has received an automatic seven-day driver’s licence suspension and is scheduled for a court appearance on November 14, 2018, to answer to the charges of:

• Speeding – 116km/hr in a 60km/hr

On the morning of Sunday, September 30, 2018, a Hamilton Police Divisional Traffic Officer set up for speed enforcement on Nikola Tesla Boulevard. Shortly before 8:30 a.m., a black Infinity sedan was observed west of Kenilworth Avenue North, travelling at a high rate of speed. Investigation revealed the vehicle speed to be 116 km/h in the posted 60 km/h zone.

The female driver, a 34-year-old Burlington resident was issued two court summonses and is scheduled to appear in court on October 30, 2018.

On Sunday, August 19, 2018, shortly before 2:30 a.m. police observed a northbound motor vehicle on the Red Hill travelling at a high rate of speed, as it approached the exit ramp at Greenhill Avenue. The vehicle’s speed was noted to be in excess of 140KM/H plateauing at 156KM/H. Police safely stopped the black, 2014 Jeep on the exit ramp at King Street.

The investigation revealed the 17-year-old male driver from Hamilton, held a G2 driver’s licence. Also in the vehicle were four passengers; two 16-year-olds and two 17- year-olds.

As a G2 licence holder for less than a six month period, the driver was prohibited from carrying more than one non-relative passenger between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.

The driver has been issued Provincial Court Summonses for the following offences:

• Speeding - 156KM/H IN A 90KM/H Zone
• Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt - Speeding by 50 or More KM/HR,

Hamilton Police have arrested a Crystal Beach man for stunt driving while operating a rental vehicle. The driver has had his license suspended for seven days and the vehicle has been impounded for the same amount of time.

Hamilton Police remind drivers to obey the speed limit for the safety of everyone.

On Monday, August 13, 2018, shortly before midnight, a Hamilton Police officer in the area of Highland Road East and Tenth Road East, Stoney Creek. At the time, a black sedan was observed travelling eastbound on Highland Road at a high rate of speed. An investigation revealed the vehicle was operating at 131km/hr in a posted 80km/hr zone.

The driver, a 39-year-old man from the Crystal Beach area was arrested and is scheduled to appear in court on September 11, 2018, to answer to the following charges:

• Speeding - 131 km/hr in a 80 km/hr zone
• Drive motor vehicle while performing a stunt

His driver’s license has been suspended for seven days and the vehicle, a 2018 Nissan Maxima, which was under a rental contract at the time, has been impounded for seven days as well.

Hamilton Police nab another stunt driver after he was caught speeding 124km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone. The driver has been issued a seven-day licence suspension and the vehicle has been impounded for the same period. Hamilton Police ask drivers to consider the safety of themselves and the public before taking this type of irresponsible action.

On August 2, 2018, shortly before 3:30 p.m. police observed a red Lamborghini travelling at a high rate of speed northbound on Miles Road, South of Twenty Road. The investigation revealed the vehicle was operating at a speed of 124 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. The operator of the vehicle was currently prohibited from driving as a result of a suspension for unpaid fines.

A 35-year-old Hamilton man has been charged with Speeding as per the amount stated above, Stunt Driving and Drive while Suspended. The driver has been issued another seven-day licence suspension as directed under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. A court date has been scheduled for September 6, 2018, at the new Provincial Offences Courthouse located at 50 Main Street East, Hamilton.

In accordance with the law, the vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

While conducting speed enforcement, a Hamilton Police Officer stops a motor vehicle for speeding 142km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone. The driver has had her driver’s licence suspended for seven days and her vehicle seized for the same period of time.

On Wednesday May 16, 2018, shortly after midnight, Hamilton Police were conducting speed enforcement of Highway 6, between Safari Road and Concession Road 7, Hamilton. At that time, a black 4-door Nissan Sentra was observed driving at a high rate of speed, overtaking slower moving traffic.

The Nissan had reached a speed of 142 km/hr when police were able to catch up the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, north of Safari Road.

The driver, a 35 year old Cambridge woman, was accompanied with two small children when police approached the vehicle. She was issued three court summonses on the following charges:

Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt- Speeding by 50 or more KM/HR

Speeding - 142KM/HR in a 80KM/HR Zone

Owner - Operate Vehicle without Insurance

In accordance with the Highway Traffic Act her licence has been suspended for seven days and her vehicle has been impounded for the same period of time. Additional penalties can be administered through the court system.

On May 3, 2018, shortly before 1:30 a.m. police observed a 2012 Dodge Caravan travelling southbound on Upper Centennial Parkway. Police identified the vehicle was travelling 115 km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone. The vehicle was pulled over just north of Mud Street.

The vehicle has been impounded for seven days and the 34-year-old driver from Stoney Creek has received an automatic seven day driver’s license suspension. He is scheduled for a court appearance on June 4, 2018, to answer to the charges of:

In order to protect everyone in our community, Hamilton Police continue to take a zero tolerance approach to the Stunt Driving.

On Thursday, April 26, 2018, shortly before 8:00 p.m., police received information involving a quad motorcycle followed by a dirt bike, travelling westbound on Barton Street approaching Parkdale Avenue, Hamilton.

Plain clothes HEAT officers (High Enforcement Action Team) attended the area and observed the quad travelling westbound on Barton Street as it approached Cope Street. While stopped for the red light at the intersection, the rider continued to rev the motor to draw attention. Once the light turned green, the quad accelerated at a high rate of speed. Police observed the rider conduct several wheelies in live lanes of traffic. The quad stopped near the intersection of King Street East and Spring Street where officers placed the rider under arrest.

A 31-year-old Oakville man has been charged with stunt driving and is scheduled to appear in court on May 24, 2108, to answer to the charge. His license was immediately suspended for seven days and the quad runner was seized for the same period.

On Sunday April 22, 2018, shortly before 11:00p.m., police were conducting speed enforcement northbound on the Redhill Valley Parkway at Greenhill Avenue, Hamilton. Police observed a 2003 silver Honda CRV travelling at a high rate of speed - 146km/hr in a 90km/hr zone. A traffic stop was conducted and police learned the male driver’s licence was also suspended due to previously unpaid fines.

During the investigation, police observed the driver was accompanied by two young children in the vehicle, one of which was positioned in a car seat. The 26-year-old Toronto man was issued three court summons for the following offences

On Saturday, March 31, 2018, shortly before 4:00a.m., police were conducting speed enforcement on the Red Hill Valley Parkway at Greenhill Avenue, Hamilton. A white 2014 Dodge Ram pickup truck was observed travelling northbound on the Parkway at a high rate of speed. Investigation revealed the vehicle was allegedly travelling 177km/hr in a 90 km/hr.

On Tuesday, March 20, 2018 shortly before 10:00 p.m. police observed a brown 2000 Toyota Solara sedan travelling a high rate of speed as it passed another vehicle on Regional Road 56 south of Golf Club Road. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 20-year-old man from Cayuga was arrested. Police located inside the vehicle an open container of alcohol along with several other alcohol containers.

Investigation revealed the vehicle was travelling at 117 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone. At the time of the incident construction workers were present.

In accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, the driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 7 days and the vehicle has been seized for seven days.

On Wednesday, March 21, 2018 shortly after 5:35 a.m. at the same location stated above, police observed a white 2011 Volkswagon Jetta aggressively pass several slower moving vehicles. Investigation revealed the vehicle was travelling 126 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone. This lead to a 39-year-old Canfield man's arrest.

On Monday, March 19, 2018, police arrested a 38-year-old Glanbrook man at the same location and charged with his stunt driving and alcohol related offences.

On February 6, 2018, shortly before 2:30 p.m., a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro was travelling northbound at a high rate of speed on the Red Hill Valley Parkway. The investigation revealed the vehicle was travelling 143 km/hr in a posted 90km/hr zone.

Hamilton Police pulled the vehicle over safely and identified the driver as a 17 year old male with a G2 license. The registered owner (mother) was notified and is responsible for the vehicle tow and impoundment charges for the next 7 days. The young man’s licensed was seized at the scene and faces a 7 day driver’s license suspension as well as a court date.

Along with the above stated penalties, a conviction of Stunt Driving allows the courts to consider imposing the following:

On Friday, January 5, 2018, shortly after 3:00 p.m., a Hamilton police traffic officer was travelling westbound on Golf Club Road and observed a 2015 black Chevrolet Camaro travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed. Investigation revealed the vehicle was operating at 175 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. The driver eventually lost control of the Camaro and was involved in a single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Golf Club Road and Highway 56.

The driver was transported to hospital for medical assessment and was released a short time later.

A G2 licenced17-year-old male from Glanbrook has been charged with Stunt Driving, Speeding, Careless Driving, and Fail to Surrender Permit and Insurance Card. He will appear before the courts on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, to answer to the charges.

Several infractions constitute Stunt Driving. In this case, the motor vehicle was travelling at a speed exceeding 50km/h of the posted speed limit.

The immediate penalties for Stunt Driving include:

• The seizure of the vehicle involved for seven days,
• The suspension of the driver’s licence for seven days.
• Upon conviction, a driver will receive additional penalties which can include:
• A fine between $2,000 and $10,000 dollars,
• Possible drivers licence suspension up to two years,
• Seven demerit points,
• Dramatic increase in insurance rates
