On Friday, August 23rd, 2024, shortly before 6:00 a.m., a suspect was captured on surveillance footage lighting multiple items on fire on the front porch of a residence while the occupant was asleep inside. The suspect then walked away in a southbound direction.

The suspect is described as:

• Male, slender build
• Possible sleeve tattoo on the right arm
• Wearing a black baseball cap, dark mask, blue coat with a white emblem and white zipper
• Blue jeans with rips in the front and white shoes
• Carrying a backpack with the initials "KD" on the right side

Hamilton Police continue to investigate an armed robbery that occurred at a commercial establishment in the area of Rymal Road East and Upper Centennial Parkway.

On Friday, July 26, 2024, shortly after 7:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a robbery. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. He is believed to have been operating a white compact SUV. The investigation revealed that a single suspect entered the business and demanded cash from the staff while brandishing a handgun.

The suspect is described as:

• Male
• Wearing a black face covering
• Dark zip-up hoodie
• Black pants with white marks
• Black shoes with white soles

Investigators from the BEAR (Break, Enter, Autos, Robbery) Unit are seeking the communities assistance in identifying the suspect. On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at approximately 9:30 a.m., a woman was walking in the area of Upper Paradise and Donnici Drive when she was approached by an unknown male and dragged off the trail. The male proceeded to assault her, but was interrupted by witnesses walking by the area. The suspect fled on foot southbound towards Upper Paradise and was later seen on video in the area of Edgehill Drive.

Despite following numerous tips and leads, investigators have not yet been able to identify or locate this individual. We are asking the public once again to be vigilant and report any sightings or information related to this suspect.

The suspect is described as follows:

• Black male
• Between 18-24 years old
• Approximately 5’8” to 5’10” feet tall
• 175 pounds with a lean athletic build
• Black short curly hair on top, short/shaved on the sides
• Wearing a navy v-neck blue t-shirt, black/dark coloured jogging pants, white socks, grey casual/running shoes with a white emblem
• Black cross body bag
• Black sweater/jacket tied around his waist (or carrying)
• Black medical mask (worn up and underneath his mouth/chin)

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024, Hamilton Police received a 911 call from a 38-year-old man reporting that he had been shot. Uniform Patrol officers promptly responded, gathered initial information, and initiated an investigation. Shortly thereafter, police received reports of two suspicious individuals wearing masks running into a wooded area. Officers attended the scene, located, and arrested a 17-year-old suspect, recovering a firearm during the arrest. The search for the second suspect continued through a golf course, trails and and rural treed areas. As of 1:20 p.m., the second suspect remains outstanding.

The outstanding suspect is described as a black male, wearing a gray hoodie and dark blue pants, and was seen wearing a blue surgical mask at the time of the incident.

Investigators have recovered the stolen black SUV linked to the suspects. The 38-year-old shooting victim remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The arrested 17-year-old male is facing multiple charges, including:

• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
• Two Counts of Breach of Recognizance
• Possession of a Prohibited Firearm
• Discharge Firearm with Intent
• Aggravated Assault
• Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was a Firearm

Investigators have confirmed that the 911 shooting call, the suspicious individual report, and the recovered stolen vehicle are all connected to the initial shooting incident.

The investigation is ongoing as police continue efforts to identify the second suspect involved in the shooting. Investigators thank the public for their assistance, which has been crucial in the timely identification of an offender who was involved in recklessly discharging a firearm in public.

The driver of the Nissan vehicle involved in the incident, who returned fire during the exchange, has been identified as Malcolm Davis, 25, of Hamilton. After striking two other vehicles in an attempt to flee, Davis crashed the vehicle near Gibson Avenue and fled the scene on foot.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Malcolm Davis, who is wanted for the following offences:

Reckless Discharge of a Firearm - Section 244.2(1)(b) of the Criminal Code, for recklessly endangering the safety of others in the area of Cannon Street East and Kinrade Avenue on May 13, 2024.
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm - Section 91(1) of the Criminal Code, for possessing a handgun on May 13, 2024.
Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm - Section 92(2) of the Criminal Code, for knowing he was not authorized to possess a handgun on May 13, 2024.
Possession of a Prohibited Firearm - Loaded - Section 95(1) of the Criminal Code, for possessing a loaded prohibited firearm on May 13, 2024.
Failure to Stop After an Accident - Section 320.16(1) of the Criminal Code, for failing to stop after colliding with a blue Hyundai motor vehicle at 33 Gibson Avenue on May 13, 2024.

On Monday May 27, 2024, around 8:30 a.m. the victim was walking in the area of Heather Road and Sunrise Drive when an unknown male unexpectedly approached the youth in their vehicle and motioned for them to come over. 

A sexual invitation was given to the youth, the unknown male then grabbed the youths hand and licked it. The youth then pulled away and fled.

The suspect was described as follows:

·         Male, brown/ East Indian

·         Slick-backed black hair

·         No facial hair

The suspect vehicle was described as follows:

·         Black two-door

·         “Fancy” car

·         Possibly with red on both rear-view mirrors

Police are also requesting that residents living in the area please check their video surveillance between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. for any suspicious behavior or if you see footage that matched the vehicle and suspect descriptions provided. If you were driving in the area and have dash camera footage, please contact us.

In response to the incident, the Shooting Response Team executed a search warrant at a local address in the East End. This led to the arrest of two adults, and an arrest warrant is now issued for a 15-year-old male youth.

Trevor Tyler Linklater, a 35-year-old male from Hamilton, has been charged with multiple drug trafficking and firearm offenses, including:

·        Possession For The Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl

·        Possession For The Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·        Ten Counts of Possession Contrary to Order

·        Two Counts of Fail to Comply with Probation

He has been remanded to custody pending a future bail hearing.

Kayla Shawnte Duvall, a 31-year-old female from Hamilton, faces charges related to drug trafficking:

·        Possession For The Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl

·        Possession For The Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

She has been released and is scheduled to appear in court at a future date.

Homicide investigators can now confirm, with the public’s assistance, police have recovered the black Honda Civic used by the shooter. This vehicle was located in Hamilton’s east end and detectives continue to investigate the movements of this vehicle around the city both before and after the shooting. 

Investigators have also reviewed video footage from numerous cameras in the area in an attempt to identify the suspect(s) involved in this murder.

As the family of Alexander Circiumaru mourns the loss of their beloved son and brother, they have chosen to share a letter conveying their thoughts and emotions during this challenging period.

The man who maliciously, with no care for human life, took our son Alexander Lee Circiumaru on 3-6-24 will be brought to justice. The individual has no right to be a part of society and to be free. We also want to thank the first responders, paramedics, police and anyone who witnessed and was able to give statements. Genuinely, thank you all. On September 10, 2023, at approximately 9:42 p.m.,,an incident unfolded on the West Mountain. A lone suspect entered a business establishment, brandishing a box cutter, and demanded cash from the clerk. The suspect subsequently fled the scene, heading Northbound on Upper Paradise.

The description of the suspect is as follows:

·         Complexion: Dark skin

·         Height: Approximately 6'0"

·         Build: Thin, weighing between 140 to 150 lbs

After a brief conversation, the young female boarded an HSR bus. The male returned back to his vehicle and followed the bus.

Suspect: Male, brown skin, 30-40 years old, 5’8, stubble facial hair, small to medium build, short black hair, wearing dark sweatpants and dark long sleeved shirt.

Suspect Vehicle: 2019 blue Honda Civic with Ontario licence plate, BZEH 330.

On Thursday, October 5, 2023, at approximately 3:00 p.m. Hamilton Police along with Hamilton Fire responded to a fire at the rear of a commercial business in the area of Lottridge Street and Barton Street.

The fire was put out quickly, resulting in minor damage to the building and no injuries. 

Through video surveillance obtained during the investigation, it has been determined the fire was deliberately set.

On Sunday, August 27, 2023, shortly before 6:30 p.m., Hamilton Police were called to 168 Bay Street North, Central Park for an assault that had just taken place out front of a tented area. Information received was that two individuals began to fight and one brandished a knife, stabbing a 34-year-old man and sending him to hospital.

In the interest of public safety and transparency, we wish to share the details of the incident and our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of our community.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with stab wounds inflicted by a knife, at this time believed to be a machete. Immediate medical attention was provided to the victim, who was then transported to hospital and later released.

Information on the suspect is unknown and our investigators are working diligently to gather evidence, interview any witnesses, and identify the suspect involved in this serious crime.

While this incident is deeply concerning, it is an isolated incident, and there is no immediate threat to the public. We will continue to maintain a police presence in Central Park and surrounding areas.

On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, shortly after 10:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to 501 Barton Street East, Woodlands Park after receiving information that a shooting had taken place. Upon arrival officers located a 36-year-old male suffering from a gunshot. The male was transported to hospital and remains in stable condition with life threatening injuries.

At this time police are seeking suspects and ask anyone who may have witnessed this crime to come forward. Investigators are  also requesting that anyone with a residences, businesses or vehicle with cameras to review their security surveillance between 9:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. for any suspicious activity in relation to this event.

Convenience Store on Hamilton’s west mountain is the victim of two break and enters in a short time.

On Sunday, May 28, 2023, shortly before 4:00a.m., a break and enter occurred at a convenience store located in the area of Limeridge Road West and Kendale Court. Two unknown suspects smashed the glass and gained entry into the business. The suspects stole approximately $400 worth of merchandise.

On Wednesday, June 28^, 2023, shortly before 2:00a.m., it is believed that the same suspects returned and committed a similar entry.

On Tuesday, April 18, 2023, shortly before 9:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a stabbing incident in the area of Main Street East near Melrose Avenue South and Prospect Street South.  An unknown suspect attacked a citizen while the suspect was confronted after rummaging through the victim’s garbage.

Shortly after the incident, the suspect left the area on foot in an unknown direction.

·        160-170 pounds

·        Bald

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Hamilton Police continues to investigate a break and enter that occurred in the City of Hamilton.

On Sunday, April 2, 2023, at approximately 11:00p.m., an unknown male suspect broke into a commercial property in the area of Concession Street and Upper Sherman Avenue. The suspect left the area on foot travelling eastbound on Concession Street past Upper Sherman Avenue.  

The suspect is described as a Male, White, average build, wearing a black jacket, a black t-shirt with a large logo on the front, light colored pants, dark shoes, shorter hair that is possibly graying.

On Friday, March 10, 2023, at approximately 4:00a.m. three males entered a building under renovation in the central Hamilton area and stole a number of power tools and equipment.  One of the males has been identified, arrested and charged. 

There are two suspects still outstanding.

On Saturday, January 14, 2023, the Hamilton Police Service began investigating a series of church entries occurring throughout the city. At least three suspects are believed to be involved in these incidents, which have taken place in the early morning hours.

Since the investigation began, there have been a total of eight incidents reported, with the most recent occurring on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. In each case, the suspects have gained entry to the churches and targeted various items, including cash donations, and electronic equipment.

Detectives continue to investigate these incidents and are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the suspects.

All the suspects are described to police as male, white, approximately 30-40 years-of-age.  

We continue to work closely with those affected and will continue to work with neighbouring police services to raise awareness surrounding these incidents.

On Sunday, March 19, 2023, police received a report of hate bias graffiti to the school at 80 Colcrest Street in Stoney Creek.

The anti-semitic/homophobic graffiti was observed on the outer area of the school.

The incident is being investigated as a hate crime.

Detectives are appealing to area residents and business owners to check their security cameras between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. for any suspicious activity and to contact police. Alternatively if you were driving in the area and have dash camera footage that would be suitable for review please also contact investigators

Hamilton Police are seeking witnesses to come forward in regards to a targeted arson.  

On Friday, February 10, 2023, at approximately 5:40 a.m., Hamilton Police and emergency partners responded to a multi-unit apartment fire at 40 Oxford St in Hamilton.

Through investigation, it was learned that an unknown male attempted to set fire with an incendiary device to the apartment building that houses over 197 units.    

A suspect was captured on video using a propane tank and blowtorch attachment to attack the utility room and set a fire. 

The suspect is described as;

• Male white, medium build, clear complexion, short scruffy brown beard
• Wearing a red/burgundy toque, black hooded sweatshirt and button up tan shirt under an army green style jacket with front pockets, blue jeans faded on the front, beige or tan shoes with white soles.
• Wearing a dark colored backpack with a light blue cross strap in the front of the backpack.

On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, shortly before 2:00a.m., a break and enter occurred at a laundromat located in the area of King Street East and Cochrane Road in the City of Hamilton. 

An unknown suspect gained entry to the laundromat by prying the laundry room door open.

Suspect #1: male, white, medium build, 20-30 years old with a scar on the left eyebrow.

Hamilton Police continue investigation into a residential fire as an arson.

On Monday, December 5, 2022, at approximately 3:35 a.m., Hamilton Police and emergency partners responded to a residential fire on Burton Street. A family with young children were asleep within the residence at the time the house caught fire.

The suspect set fire to a front wooden porch and contents. 

The suspect vehicle and suspect are described as;

• Light hooded jacket or hoody
• Darker coloured pants

Vehicle

• 2015-2020 Ford F150, 4 door silver in colour
• Tinted windows
• Silver front grill
• Black wheel rims
• Front licence plate fixed to the front passenger side

A neighbour extinguished the fire and alerted the residents of the home.  Without the assistance of this person the fire could have resulted in a tragedy.

Hamilton Police continue to investigate a firearm involved commercial robbery.

On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, a robbery occurred at a commercial business in the area of Main Street West and Emerson Street.

The suspect is described as, a white male, approximately 5’10, wearing a black toque, black North Face jacket with logos on the left breast pocket and right rear shoulder, wearing a multi coloured face covering, black shoes and was seen leaving the location with a blue grocery style bag.

A black handgun style firearm was observed during the incident.

No one sustained any physically injuries.

Hamilton Police continue investigation into a robbery that occurred in Hamilton’s East End.

On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, shortly before midnight, a robbery occurred at a convenience store in the area of Centennial Parkway North and Delawana Drive in the City of Hamilton.  

The lone suspect entered the store concealing his hand and demanded cash.  The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of currency and fled east on foot.

No weapons were observed and no one of was injured.

The suspect is described as; male, white, medium build, 25-30 years old, brown hair,  wearing a black leather jacket and white shirt.

Between Sunday, September 4, 2022 and Tuesday, September 6, 2022 multiple anti-Semitic messages (graffiti) were located in the area of Main Street West and Bay Street in the City of Hamilton.

• Short black hair
• Wearing black sweater, jeans, red running shoes and carrying a black backpack.

Hamilton Police are seeking the public’s assistance in an ongoing investigation into a commercial break and enter.  

On Sunday, June 19, 2022, shortly after 10:00p.m., a break and enter occurred at a commercial business located on Upper James Street in the City of Hamilton.  

Two male suspects gained entry to the business by defeating the lock mechanism with a sledgehammer.  Once inside the commercial establishment the suspects stole product and fled the scene.

Suspect #1: male, thin build, wearing a light coloured Toronto Raptors hoodie.

Suspect #2: male, thin build, wearing a black hoodie.

On Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 10:30 p.m., a male suspect was captured on video attending 57 Delaware Avenue, Hamilton.  The suspect caused mischief to the building by spray painting the exterior.  The suspect then proceeded to set fire to an exterior doorway at the rear of the building.  The suspect then fled on foot.   

On Friday, August 5, 2022, Hamilton Police responded to a second fire at the same location.
Investigation revealed the suspect on video at approximately 9:30 p.m. setting fire to the front entrance of the building.  The suspect then fled on foot.

Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance to check home or business video surveillance systems during the above dates and times in efforts to identify the suspect.

On Monday, July 11, 2022, shortly after 2:50 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a break and enter at a residence in the area of Barton Street East and Gage Avenue North.

Three males of Hamilton have been arrested.

Alexander La was wanted by Hamilton Police for a shooting that occurred on Sunday, June 12, 2022, in the area of Hess Street North and Market Street in Hamilton, in which two males sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and several vehicles were damaged.

Marques Griffiths was wanted by Hamilton Police for a separate shooting that occurred on Monday, June 27, 2022, in the area of Main Street East and Fairleigh Avenue South, in which a female sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Marques Griffiths was also wanted on a second warrant by Hamilton Police for two counts of Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Firearm in relation to an incident from June 23, 2022, on Barton Street East and Melrose Avenue North. 

During the execution of the arrest, police located and seized a stolen vehicle, $2400 in cash and seized three guns. The guns included a sawed off shotgun, a .308 calibre loaded rifle as well as a loaded .22 calibre rifle and over 100 rounds of ammunition. Additional charges are anticipated, pending further investigation.

On Friday, June 10, 2022, at approximately 11:15 p.m., a male suspect approached a lone female waiting for the bus within a bus shelter on the east side of Upper James Street just south of Fennell Avenue in the City of Hamilton.

The suspect spoke with the victim for a brief time period before sexually assaulting her by grabbing her and then proceeded to jump on her. The victim managed to fight the suspect off and the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspect was not known to the female.

·         20-30 years-of-age

·         Short black hair

·         Pink hooded sweatshirt with a logo on the front

·         Track pants

·         Back pack with a green stripe down the middle and either grey or white sides

The Hamilton Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a break and enter at a Hamilton Hindu Temple.

On Wednesday, February 2, 2022, shortly before 3:30a.m., a lone suspect entered the Hindu Samaj Temple located at 6297 Twenty Rd East in the City of Hamilton. The suspect broke into the place of worship and stole a religious flute and cash.

The suspect was last seen fleeing the temple towards Twenty Road East. 

At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a black and red Toronto Raptors toque, a blue and green coloured winter jacket with a hood with a red and white arm band going around the right arm, camo pants (black, white,grey and blue), black running shoes and carrying a backpack that was blue and black in colour with Puma written in white lettering.

Hamilton Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in relation to an incident that occurred at a retail store near Main Street East and Victoria Ave South.

On Saturday, January 22, 2022, shortly before 08:00p.m., a male entered a retail store near closing time. A store representative approached the male to assist him with his purchase.

At this time, the male picked up a 12-inch handsaw and began to swing it at the store representative’s face. The male was asked to leave the store and when he would not, a call was made to 911.

While the representative was on the phone with police dispatch, the male cut the phone line with the handsaw.

The male then ran out of the retail store, dropping the handsaw near the exit doors, as he fled the area.

On Monday, February 7, 2022, a male entered a student house located on Broadway Avenue, between Sussex and Main Street West without consent.

A resident from within the house heard the sound of the front door and encountered the male inside, who then fled the area.

On Monday, November 15, 2021, shortly after midnight, a lone male approached a church in the area of Upper Paradise Road and Mohawk Road West. The suspect proceeded to break a window and was able to gain entry. Items from the church that were taken were electronics and food which was donated for a local food drive.

Hamilton Police continue to investigate a sexual assault incident that occurred on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. in the area of the James Street South escarpment stairs. This is the stairs that provide access from James Street South to the top of the Claremont Access.

The suspect is described as follows:

• Male, white
• 5’8 to 5’10
• Athletic build
• Wearing an orange bandana or facemask covering
• Black hooded sweatshirt, with the hood up
• Black pants

Hamilton Police are requesting that the public check their security cameras, including any dashcam footage, for anyone that matches the suspect’s description.

Investigators believe that there may have been other individuals using the stairs at the time of the incident, and are asking any witnesses to contact Detective Phil Hedgcock at 905-540-5544 or Detective Sergeant Jennifer Currie at 905-546-4962.

On Thursday, October 7, 2021, at 1:27 a.m., the above suspect entered a Gas Bar in the area of Upper Paradise Road and Stone Church Road West.

The suspect then approached the clerk and demanded cash.

The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot eastbound on Stone Church Road West.

The employee did not incur any physical injuries as a result of the incident.

The Hamilton Police BEAR Unit has taken carriage of the investigation and is seeking the assistance of the public with identifying the suspect.

The suspect is being described as:

• Male, black
• Late 20's
• Thin build
• Black puffy jacket with a white logo on the left side
• Black hoodie with a large grey Blue Jays logo on the chest
• Black pants
• Black baseball cap with a square grey logo
• Dark mask
• White and black low cut converse basketball shoes

On Thursday, November 11, 2021 shortly before 4:30 a.m., the suspect attended the Hasty Market located at 225 John Street South and demanded cash while brandishing a weapon.

The suspect fled on foot westbound on Young Street.

Later that day shortly after 10:00 p.m., the suspect attended the Big Bee Convenience Store located at 155 Hunter Street West, stated that he had a gun and demanded cash.

The suspect fled on foot southbound on Caroline Street.
No gun was seen.

The next evening on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 6:20 p.m., the suspect re-attended the Big Bee Convenience Store, demanded cash, was unsuccessful and then fled on foot southbound on Caroline Street once again.

Within minutes of leaving Big Bee convenience the suspect attended Durant Milk located at 12 Robinson Street, demanded cash, a brief struggle ensued and the suspect was able to obtain an unknown amount of cash.

The suspect fled on foot westbound on Robinson Street.

SUSPECT DESCRIPTION:

• Male, white
• 25-35 years-of-age
• 5’9 to 5’11 in height
• Medium build
• Shaved head
• Numerous tattoos on both his hands

The investigation has been taken over by the Break and Enter, Auto Theft and Robbery (BEAR) Branch and detectives are appealing to area residents and businesses to review their security cameras for these dates and times and to contact police.
