On February 1, 2020, just shortly after 2:30 a.m., a male in his 20s with serious injuries.was dropped off at the Juravinski Hospital by an unknown vehicle. Medical Staff were advised by a witness that this male was near the emergency entrance and required help. Medical staff responded and attempted life-saving measures on the victim, however, he was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. Hamilton Police were then contacted and responded shortly after. 

At this time, the Hamilton Police Major Crime Unit is investigating this incident as a criminally suspicious death. More information will be gleaned from the autopsy, which is scheduled for tomorrow morning at the Hamilton General Hospital.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Kyle John Richardson (Adams) of Hamilton.

Police are seeking assistance from the public on where Kyle was last night and who Kyle may have been associating with. Investigators continue to search for the location where Kyle sustained his injuries. On September 7, 2018, shortly before 1:00 a.m., police responded to the area of Cline Avenue North, Hamilton. A female living in the residence was asleep with her boyfriend in their second story bedroom. The female awoke to a creaking noise on the stairs and sat up to find a silhouette of a person standing in the bedroom doorway. The male then quickly exited down the stairs.

Suspect Description:

• White male
• 5’8, with a thin build
• Wearing dark clothing

Police also responded to two other calls on September 6 and 7, 2018, involving possible trespassers.

• September 6, 2018, shortly after 11:30 p.m., a female resident living on Cline Avenue North heard a knock on her window but never looked out. No description was provided and there were no signs of any attempted entry.
• September 7, 2018, shortly after 1:30 a.m., two female tenants on Paisley Avenue South saw a male with an unkempt beard, 25 to 30-years-old, peering through the front window.

The incidents follow several suspicious circumstances and break and enters in the Westdale area. Hamilton Police continue to investigate and have increased their presence in the Westdale community.

On September 4, 2018, shortly after 11:00 p.m., police responded to the area of Hadden Avenue North, Hamilton. A female living in the residence noticed a male standing outside the home. The male fled on foot after the female caught him looking through the window. 

Police set up a perimeter and thoroughly checked the area with negative results.

The male appeared to be of university age (early 20’s), white, blonde hair covering his forehead and wearing a black baseball hat.

The incident comes after several break and enters in the Westdale area. At this time it is too early to link all the cases and Hamilton Police continue to investigate.

On Friday, August 24, 2018, shortly before 8:30 a.m., Hamilton Police received information two hikers had fallen and injured themselves along the escapement in Dundas. The hikers were located and were moved to safety by way of a rope rescue by Hamilton Fire Department.

A 20-year-old male and 17-year-old female have been transported to the hospital. Their level of injury is not known at the time of this release as they are currently being evaluated.

On Monday, August 20, 2018, shortly after 8:30 p.m., a woman was waiting for a bus in an HSR shelter, located at the corner of Upper Wentworth and Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton. The female was leaning up against the glass wall when it gave way. She received superficial injuries and was medically treated and cleared at the scene.

Initially, police were provided with information that suggested the glass may have been shot out by a projectile.

Hamilton Police have conducted a thorough investigation which included interviewing several witnesses and a review of security camera footage. Additionally, an extensive search of the immediate area was also conducted and police did not locate any items with the capability of breaking the glass.

It cannot be determined if the glass was previously damaged, however, the evidence supports the glass accidentally broke as a result of the woman leaning on it, not as a result of a projectile.

Hamilton Police investigated an incident where a drone/ UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) interfered with an aircraft departing from John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport. Efforts were made to locate the drone and operator but were unsuccessful. This type of incident is an offence under the Canadian Aviation Regulations.

On Friday, August 17, 2018, shortly after 1:00 p.m. Hamilton Police received information from NAV Canada advising a private aircraft had departed from John C. Monro Airport when a drone had flown close to its path. The investigation revealed the drone flew within 500 feet of the aircraft, endangering its operation. Police attended the area but were unsuccessful in locating the operator and drone.

Hamilton Police are reminding the public to practice safe operations of drones. Penalties for violations regarding the usage of drones include maximum fines of $3000.00.

On Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Hamilton police responded to an incident at Cathy Wever Elementary School, 160 Wentworth St. N. in Hamilton.

A nine-year-old child alleged he was grabbed by a male near a fence in the school playground. The student was not injured but fled into the school and advised school staff.

The suspect is described as male, white, 40 to 50 years old. Gray hair, dressed in black, wearing black shoes with white stripes, carrying a large black bag, possibly a garbage bag.

The male was last seen travelling southbound on Wentworth St. from the playground of Cathy Wever School.

Police are investigating this incident and seeking the assistance of anyone who may have been in the vicinity and witnessed the incident or suspect.
