On Sunday, October 13th, 2024, at approximately 5:42am a collision occurred in the southbound lane of Queen Street South, south of Aberdeen Avenue, in the City of Hamilton. An individual was located on the roadway with serious head injuries and investigation revealed that the individual had been struck by a motor vehicle. The individual was transported to the Hamilton General Hospital by EMS with critical, life threatening injuries. The involved vehicle failed to remain at the scene.

On Monday, October 14^th, 2024, the 61-year-old Hamilton driver turned himself into the Hamilton Police Service and has been charged with Failing to Remain to Cause Bodily Harm under the Criminal Code of Canada.

The 61-year-old Hamilton man will appear in court on Monday, November 18th, 2024.

On January 16, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., gunfire erupted in the vicinity of King Street West and Wardrope Avenue. Although no injuries were reported, stray bullets struck several vehicles and buildings, causing significant concern in the community.

After a comprehensive investigation, the Hamilton Police Service is announcing the arrests of the following individuals

Alexander CARNICELLI, 29, of Hamilton, has been charged with:

1. Assault with a Weapon
2. Three Counts of Possession of Firearm Contrary to Order
3. Discharge Firearm with Intent
4. Reckless Discharge of a Firearm
5. Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
6. Four Counts of Fail to Comply with Probation
7. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
8. Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
9. Possession of a Prohibited Firearm

Eathan GUSTIN-GROLLEMAN, 29, of Hamilton, has been charged with:

1. Assault with a Weapon
2. Three Counts of Possession of Firearm Contrary to Order 
3. Discharge Firearm with Intent
4. Reckless Discharge of a Firearm
5. Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
6. Failure to Stop after an Accident
7. Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Prohibited
8. Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000
9. Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
10. Fail to Comply with Probation Order
11. Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
12. Possession of a Prohibited Firearm

Both suspects are currently in custody on unrelated matters.

All three suspects were last seen running southbound on Blake Street from Maplewood Avenue shortly before midnight on Friday, May 17, 2024.

The investigation began on May 18, 2024, after reports of gunfire. Evidence was later found on May 20, 2024, confirming shots had been fired shortly before midnight on May 17, 2024. Enhanced patrols have been deployed in the area to ensure community safety and gather further evidence.

Hamilton Police are urging residents in the area with security cameras to review footage from May 17 and May 18 for any unusual or suspicious activity. Motorists who were in the area during these times and have dash cameras are also requested to check their recordings for potential leads.

On Thursday, April 13, 2023, shortly after 9:30 p.m., a Yamaha motorcycle was traveling northbound on Upper James Street approaching Twenty Road when the motorcycle, carrying a driver and a passenger and a southbound Toyota SUV were involved in a collision.

The 49-year-old female from Hamilton is charged with Careless Driving Causing Bodily Harm or Death under the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused will appear in court in June.

On Thursday April 13, 2023, shortly after 9:30p.m., a Yamaha motorcycle was northbound on Upper James Street approaching Twenty Road.  The motorcycle, carrying a driver and a passenger, collided with a southbound Toyota SUV.

The passenger was thrown from the motorcycle and later pronounced dead in hospital.  The motorcycle driver was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV was treated in hospital before being released.

Hamilton Police investigation uncovered evidence of a third vehicle involved in the collision and have now identified the driver.

The driver of the third vehicle, a 44-year-old Hamilton man has been charged with Fail to Remain Cause Bodily Harm under the Criminal Code of Canada.

The 44-year-old Hamilton man will be appearing in court on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, the male was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was driving westbound when his vehicle lost control and hit a concrete pole.

The investigation remains on-going in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Hamilton Police will not be releasing the identity of the deceased at this time.

On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, shortly after 3:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to reports of a stabbing that occurred in the area of Acadia Drive at Billy Sherring Park in Hamilton. Once on scene, police located a male suffering from injuries believed to have been caused by an edged weapon. The 17-year-old male was transported to hospital with serious injuries. His condition has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Hamilton Police detectives have since made an arrest in relation to this stabbing incident.

The victim remains at hospital with non-threatening injuries.

The male will appear in court on Friday, August 27, 2021.

Police do not believe there is any further threat to the community as a result of this incident.

Phuoc VO is charged with two counts of Second Degree murder and is to be audio remanded this morning.

He remains in hospital and in an induced coma.

Forensic investigators have completed their work in the victims’ apartment and it has been released back to family.

Based on information Police believe, 28-year-old Oliver Karafa and 25-year-old Yun (Lucy) Lu LI boarded a flight from Canada to Eastern Europe approximately 24 hours after the murder of Tyler Pratt and the attempted murder of the second victim.

Police believe that Karafa and Li are aware that they are wanted in relation to the incident and are actively evading police.

Oliver and Lucy if you are seeing this we encourage you to turn yourself in. Hamilton Police are working closely with international authorities and we are positive that our investigation will lead to your whereabouts. We will continue to relentlessly pursue you.

On January 5, 2021, at approximately 12:30 p.m., two suspects attempted to break into the residence at 30 Times Square Boulevard.

The suspects were unsuccessful in gaining entry to the residence and fled towards an awaiting motor vehicle nearby.

A citizen intervened and was met by gunfire.

The citizen was not injured. The citizen is not believed to be the intended target.

A vehicle used in the incident has been identified and detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident or the vehicle to come forward.

On Sunday, March 22, 2020, at 12:15 p.m. the Hamilton Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit attended a single motor vehicle collision on Miles Road near English Church Road. A 28-year-old male driver lost control of his vehicle and struck a metal guard rail on Miles Road south of English Church Road that resulted in fatal injuries.

The investigation has determined that speed and impairment were contributing factors in the collision.

On Saturday, May 16, 2020, shortly after 12:00 p.m., Hamilton Police Reconstruction Detectives investigated a collision involving a Kawasaki motorcycle and a Cadillac Escalade SUV. The collision occurred at Upper James Street and Fennell Avenue. The rider of the motorcycle was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Through continued investigation, detectives have determined speed and impairment were contributing factors in the collision. As a result, there will be no charges laid against the driver of the SUV.

Shortly before 11 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2019, Hamilton Police were dispatched to the area of 394 Barton Street East (between Smith Avenue and Leeming Street) for a shooting that had just occurred.

Patrol officers responded quickly. One 23-year-old male and one 26-year-old male were conveyed to hospital, each suffering from a single gunshot wound. Both males are currently listed as stable with non-life-threatening injuries. The 23-year-old male is currently in police custody.

The Hamilton Police Major Crime Unit and the Make Safe Shooting Task Force are investigating this matter, it has been determined that this is a targeted shooting.

Area residents and business owners in the area with video surveillance cameras are requested to check their systems for any suspicious people or vehicles between 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2019 - Particularly in the area of Barton Street East between Smith Avenue and Leeming Street, and on Smith Avenue between Barton Street East and Cannon Street East.
