Hamilton Police have released images of a suspect involved in a vehicle fire and are seeking the public’s help to identify the individual.

On Sunday, May 19, 2024, shortly after 6:00 p.m., the owner of a Ford F150 parked his vehicle in a trail parking lot in the area of Highway 52 and Powerline Road in Ancaster, before going on a bike ride. The owner then returned to his vehicle shortly after 7:00p.m., to his vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

The investigation has been deemed suspicious and investigation remains ongoing.

The suspect is described as;

• Medium build
• Wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt
• Green face mask
• Grey shorts
• Black shoes with white soles

Hamilton Police are asking the public for their assistance in identifying a suspicious vehicle and driver.

On Sunday, April 9, 2023, Hamilton Police entered into an investigation after receiving reports of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Mead Avenue and Tate Avenue in the East End of Hamilton between 1:00p.m. and 2:00p.m.

The vehicle and driver are described as;

Driver:

• Female
• White
• Thin build
• Late 20’s or early 30’s
• Freckles
• Black hair
• Blue eyes

Vehicle:

• Black GMC pickup truck
• Crew cab
• Short box with tonneau cover with distinctive rims

Hamilton Police responded to complaints of an impaired driver and located a sawed-off shotgun.

On Sunday, February 12, 2023, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Hamilton Police received reports of a possible impaired driver in the area of Barton Street and Sanford Avenue.

Hamilton Police responded to the area, located the vehicle and after investigation, arrested the driver for impaired driving. During the search of the vehicle, police located a sawed off shotgun.  

The 37-year-old male driver has been charged with;

• Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Drug.
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.
• Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon.
• Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing There was a Firearm.
• Possession of a Prohibited Firearm.
• Fail to Comply with a Probation Order X2

Thank you to the members of the community that recognized the signs of an impaired driver and took action to report it to police. By doing so, you helped stop a possible collision that could have injured or even killed someone.

On Thursday, January 26, 2023, at approximately 3:20 a.m., police received reports of a white van in the area of Britannia Avenue and Alice Street, observed entering a commercial vehicle and stealing tools. Two suspects entered the vehicle by smashing the windows to gain entry.

On Thursday, January 26, 2023, shortly after the initial vehicle entry, the white van backed up to a commercial vehicle parked on Cannon Street near Robins Street. Suspects utilized the same method to gain entry, smashing the windows of the vehicle.

On Friday, January 27, 2023, police received a report of a commercial vehicle that was entered by suspects traveling in a white van. Surveillance cameras captured the time of the incident as being shortly before 4:00 a.m. The suspect appears to be wearing a black jacket with a hood with a horizontal reflective stripe across the upper back.

On Sunday, January 29, 2023, police received information of another theft from a commercial motor vehicle. The suspects entered two commercial vehicles parked on a lot near South Service Road and Jones Road at approximately 4:00 a.m., utilizing the same smashing windows method to gain entry.

On Monday, January 30, 2023, police received information of a suspicious vehicle matching the description of the one involved in the theft from vehicles. Police located the vehicle in the area of Centennial Parkway North at Barton Street East and attempted a traffic stop. However, the vehicle sped away at a high rate of speed with no regard to the rules of the road. In the interest of public safety, police did not pursue the vehicle.

At this time, these incidents are being investigated as related, as at this time police believe they involve the same vehicle and suspects.

Hamilton Police conducted a  traffic stop that lead to the arrest of two males and a loaded firearm taken off of our streets.

On Wednesday, June 1, 2022, shortly before 3:00a.m., Hamilton Police observed a vehicle travelling westbound on King Street East near Emerald Street North without a functioning rear license plate light.

A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle and persons within it, produced a small amount of crack cocaine, bullets and a loaded Glock firearm.

Police have charged two males with the following offences:

·         25-year-old male of Hamilton

• Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
• Possession Contrary to Order
• Possession Schedule 1- Cocaine
• Possessing Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling

·         25-year-old male of Toronto

• Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
• Possess Firearm with altered Serial Number
• Prohibited Firearm- Loaded
• Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
• Fail To Comply Probation X2
• Fail to Comply with Release Order X2
• Possessing Cannabis For The Purpose of Selling
• Proceeds of Crime Under $5000

Both individuals have had their bail opposed.

On Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at approximately 5:30 p.m., emergency services responded for a collision involving a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV motor vehicle and a pedestrian on Mount Albion Road, just north of Hixon Road in Hamilton.

The Hyundai was travelling northbound on Mount Albion when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to mount the sidewalk and hit a pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to hospital with critical injuries. The driver fled the scene but surrendered to police on Thursday, September 16, 2021.

Unfortunately, the pedestrian has succumbed to her injuries and passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021. The identity of the deceased will not be released.

This is now the City’s 12^th fatality of the year and the 5^th involving a pedestrian.

On Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at approximately 1:00p.m., Hamilton Police and emergency partners responded for a motor vehicle collision involving a 2006 Ford Focus sedan and a 2016 Honda SUV at Highway #5 at Woodhill Road in the City of Hamilton.

The Ford vehicle was travelling northbound on Woodhill Road towards Highway #5 and was struck within the intersection by the 2016 Honda vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest in the drainage ditch along the north side of Highway #5.

The driver of the Honda vehicle, a 73-year-old woman from Hamilton, was transported to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Ford vehicle, a 64-year-old Cambridge man, was pronounced dead on scene.

The HPS Collision Reconstruction Unit was activated and has taken carriage of the investigation.

Police have not ruled out any factors that would have contributed to this collision.

On Monday, May 17, 2021, shortly after 11:00 p.m., Hamilton Police and Hamilton Paramedics responded to Limeridge Road East, just west of Upper Kenilworth Avenue in the City of Hamilton for a motor vehicle collision between a yellow 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle and grey 2020 Hyundai Sonata.

Preliminary information indicates that a grey 2020 Hyundai Sonata was travelling eastbound on Limeridge Road East and began to conduct a U-Turn. The male motorcycle driver then struck the driver’s side of the Hyundai and the motorcyclist became wedged under the vehicle. The Hyundai driver completed a U-Turn and continued westbound 100 metres with the motorcyclist dragging under the vehicle.

The driver and possible passengers of the Hyundai exited the vehicle and fled the scene.

Hamilton Paramedics, Hamilton Fire and Hamilton Police responded to the collision and the victim was pronounced dead on scene. Investigation is being conducted by the Collision Reconstruction Unit and Mountain Station Detectives.

Police have yet to learn the identity of the motorcyclist or the Hyundai vehicle driver and possible passengers.

Speed and driver impairment have not yet been ruled out as factors involved in the investigation.

From April 2020 through August 2020, a string of vehicle entries occurred in the Hamilton area. During this time, unlocked vehicles were targeted as money, personal items and credit cards were taken by individuals. Those items were later used to assist with committing additional crimes.

Detectives from the Hamilton Police Criminal Investigations Bureau have continued to investigate these crimes and have identified a 19-year-old male.

On Friday, September 4, 2020, the male was located and arrested without incident. He was held for a bail hearing where he faced several property-related charges.

Hamilton Police are reminding owners to remove from plain sight, items of value from their vehicle’s cabin area, to lock their doors when their vehicle is left unattended and when possible park in a well-lit and travelled area.

On Monday, February 24, 2020, shortly before 10:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of Limeridge Road West and Kendale Court for a report of shots fired. Through investigation, police learned two suspects approached the victim while he was seated in his parked vehicle. They proceeded to fire several shots at the vehicle and then fled on foot to an awaiting car. The victim was uninjured but his vehicle received a number of bullet holes as a result of the incident.

The investigation is in the preliminary stages and it is unknown if this matter was targeted.

One of the suspects is described as follows:

On Tuesday, February 4, 2020, shortly after 1130 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to a driving complaint in the area of Fennell Avenue East and Upper Wellington Street. The information provided to police included a black Honda Civic that was driving erratically and following the victim throughout the city. Additionally, the victim did not know the identity of the driver.

As a result of an investigation conducted by detectives from the Division Three Criminal Investigations Branch, a 33-year-old Hamilton man was identified and arrested on Friday evening. He was taken into police custody and appeared at the John Sopinka Courthouse earlier today to answer to the charges of Criminal Harassment and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

Detectives continue to investigate and interview witnesses.

On Sunday, December 29, 2019, shortly after midnight, Hamilton Police responded to the area of Lexington Avenue and Columbus Gate after receiving information about a suspicious incident. During the investigation, police reviewed security footage which captured a motor vehicle travelling south on Lexington when a female exited while it was in motion. The vehicle stopped and two male occupants exited and assisted the woman back into the vehicle. It was last seen travelling east on Columbus Gate. The vehicle is described as a newer model, white, four-door sedan with a sunroof.

The Hamilton Police Service is asking the public to review the photos and to contact police if they recognize any of the individuals or vehicle.

At this time police are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and to check on the well-being of all persons involved.
