                        <title>Hamilton’s 5th Homicide of 2024</title>

                        <guid>https://hamiltonpolice.on.ca/news/hamiltons-5th-homicide-of-2024/</guid><pp:caseid>650993</pp:caseid><pp:subtitle>Homicide Victim Identified</pp:subtitle><description><![CDATA[<img src="https://content.presspage.com/uploads/2189/b4cb2a80-aa17-4f88-b7ed-c91fc29dc581/1920_newsrelease-victim-july02-2024.jpg?10000"><p><span>On Sunday, June 30, 2024 at approximately 4:35a.m., the Hamilton Police Service responded to reports of a shooting along Highway #6 in Flamborough between Concessions 7 and 8.&nbsp;&nbsp; This shooting originated from a disturbance that had occurred at a large house party taking place in a short-term rental property along Highway #6.&nbsp; This disturbance continued onto the highway resulting in shots being fired at a car parked on the shoulder of the highway and at another car stopped in a nearby gas station.</span></p><p><span>One male was located in the parked vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.&nbsp; He was transported to local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.&nbsp; The deceased has now been identified as 45-year old Tobenna Obiaga of Halton Region.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p><p><span>Family have provided a photograph of Tobenna to be released to the media.</span></p><p><span>Two of the occupants in the vehicle at the nearby gas station also suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds and were later released from hospital.&nbsp; A fourth person was also injured at the house and was released from hospital with minor injuries that were not firearm-related.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p><p><span>Witnesses described a dark grey sedan fleeing the scene of the shooting but no further suspect description is available at this time.</span></p><p><span>Police are still guarding the property and several cars left at the scene pending search warrants being issued later today.&nbsp; Investigators believe that there are numerous witnesses to this homicide that have not come forward to speak to police and those witnesses are urged to contact the Homicide Unit.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span>If you have any information that you believe could assist police with the investigation into this crime, you are asked to contact Detective Mike Ebert at 905-546-4167.</span></p><p><span>To provide information anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit your anonymous tips online at </span><a href="http://www.crimestoppershamilton.com"><span>http://www.crimestoppershamilton.com</span></a></p>]]></description><category><![CDATA[Case Number: 24-669803,Homicide,Victim,Shooting,Death,flamborough,HamOnt,Media]]></category>

                        <title>Hamilton Police Investigate Hate Incident</title>

                        <guid>https://hamiltonpolice.on.ca/news/hamilton-police-investigate-hate-incident/</guid><pp:caseid>522825</pp:caseid><description><![CDATA[<p><span>Hamilton Police are appealing for witnesses after a hate incident took place on an HSR bus in the City of Hamilton.</span></p><p><span>On Tuesday, August 2, 2022, Hamilton Police became aware of a hate incident posted on social media.</span></p><p><span>It was believed to have taken place on Monday, August 1, 2022, on an HSR bus, in the area of Gage Park at the Lawrence Road entrance. The content of the video shows a male making transphobic and homophobic slurs towards two unknown people.                         <title>Police Seek Robbery Victim</title>

                        <guid>https://hamiltonpolice.on.ca/news/police-seek-attempt-robbery-victim/</guid><pp:caseid>506644</pp:caseid><description><![CDATA[<p><span>Hamilton Police are investigating a robbery and are looking for the public’s assistance in connecting with the victim.</span></p><p><span>On Sunday, May 8, 2022 just before 11:30 a.m. an elderly female was in the area of Main Street East and Victoria Avenue South when a male suspect grabbed a hold of the victim and attempted to steal a bag she was carrying. The suspect was unsuccessful in stealing the victim's bag. The victim was able to fend off the suspect who then fled the area.</span></p><p><span>The victim then attended Canadian Tire, made a purchase and left the area in an unknown direction.</span></p><p><span>Police are looking to speak with the victim in this matter.                         <title>UPDATE: Sanford Avenue Fail to Remain Victim has Died</title>

The victim's family does not wish to release his name.</p>

<p>On Friday, September 20, 2019, at approximately 9:00 p.m., an older male was crossing northbound on Main Street East in the crosswalk on the west side of Sanford Avenue when he was struck by a dark coloured SUV travelling eastbound on Main Street in Hamilton.</p>

<p>The suspect vehicle is a dark coloured four-door SUV or full-size vehicle that will have extensive front end and windshield damage.</p>

                        <title>Male Charged with Voyeurism at Limeridge Mall </title>

<p><span>On April 12, 2019, shortly before 6:00 p.m. Hamilton Police responded to Limeridge Mall at 999 Upper Wentworth Street Hamilton, for a report of a male taking photographs of females inside a store change room. Two witnesses alerted the female victim and store staff who confronted the suspect before he fled the Mall. An off duty police officer chased after the suspect, across the mall parking lot towards the Staples store at 970 Upper Wentworth Street. The suspect was caught by the off duty officer after a short foot chase and detainment until uniform officers arrived and placed him under arrest.</span></p>

<p><span>A 23-year-old Hamilton male has been charged with Voyeurism.</span></p>

<p><span>The male has been released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of Monday, May 13, 2019.</span></p>
