                        <title>Arrests Made in Series of Waterdown Commercial Break and Enters</title>

These arrests mark the conclusion of a series of investigations, and the individuals responsible have now been charged.</p><p>On <strong>Tuesday, August 20, 2024</strong>, three businesses in the Waterdown area were targeted in a string of break and enter incidents. Hamilton Police’s Break, Enter, Auto Theft, and Robbery (BEAR) Unit took identified two males involved in these crimes.</p><p>During an attempt to arrest one of the suspects on <strong>Monday, September 9, 2024</strong>, a 25-year-old male rammed a marked police vehicle while fleeing from a traffic stop. He was located and arrested, alongside a second male, on <strong>Wednesday, September 11, 2024</strong> by members of the Hamilton Fugitive Apprehension Unit.</p><h3>Arrested:</h3><p><strong>Jacob Benford</strong> (25 years-of-age from Hamilton) faces the following charges:</p><ul><li>Break and Enter – Commit</li><li>Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000</li><li>16 Counts of Fail to Comply with Probation (Adult)</li><li>Three Counts of Operation While Prohibited</li><li>Possession of Burglary Tools</li><li>Dangerous Operation</li><li>Flight from Peace Officer</li><li>Failure to Stop After an Accident</li></ul><p><strong>Male Youth</strong> (16 years-of-age from Burlington) faces the following charges:</p><ul><li>Break and Enter – Commit</li><li>Two Counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000</li><li>Two Counts of Mischief Over $5,000</li><li>Theft Over $5,000</li></ul><p>Hamilton Police would like to remind the community of the importance of reporting suspicious activity.                         <title>Waterdown Man Arrested for Vandalism to Local Cemetery</title>

                        <guid>https://hamiltonpolice.on.ca/news/waterdown-man-arrested-for-vandalism-to-local-cemetery/</guid><pp:caseid>454484</pp:caseid><description><![CDATA[<p><span><span><span>Hamilton Police have arrested a 30-year-old Waterdown man for vandalizing tombstones in Waterdown Cemetery.</span></span></span></p><p><span><span><span>On May 6, 2021, shortly after 2:30 a.m., Hamilton Police were conducting surveillance in Waterdown Cemetery, when police observed a male walking into the cemetery and proceeding to push over a tombstone. At this point, police have located over 100 gravestones that have been spray painted, knocked over or broken.</span></span></span></p><p><span><span><span><span>The total damages to the tombstones is still being compiled but it is believes to be in the thousands.</span></span></span></span></p><p><span><span><span>Hamilton Police Service wants to thank Waterdown residents and the City of Hamilton for providing information to assist with this investigation.</span> <span><span>This case shows how successful we can all be when we work together.</span></span></span></span></p><p><span><span><span><span>We encourage the public to look out for one another and to report all incidences of suspicious activity and crimes so they can be investigated and tracked. The suspect is viewed on the video surveillance, the night the stabbing took place.</span></span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span><span><span><span><span><span>On Monday, March 22, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to the intersection of Main Street North and John Street East in Waterdown. Police learned that the victim was walking with his spouse in the area when the suspect approached and stabbed him multiple times.
