Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Wanted Person in Possession of Cocaine

 

Hamilton Police conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle for a licence plate violation and investigation revealed a warrant of arrest existed for the driver. The Hamilton was arrested and police found him to be in possession of cocaine. He was charged accordingly.

On Tuesday, May 15th, 2018, shortly after 3:30p.m., police were patrolling in the area of Barton Street East and Lincoln Street, Hamilton. The questionable driving actions of a black 2009 Chevrolet Malibu were observed by an officer. A preliminary investigation was conducted on the vehicle and the status of the licence plate was determined to be, 'Returned to Ministry of Transportation.'

A traffic stop was conducted and further investigation revealed a warrant of arrest existed for the driver for failing to comply with his Probation Order. Shortly after arresting the driver, police discovered he was in possession of 11 grams of cocaine. As a result of the arrest, the driver was in violation of his Probation Order.

Joseph Haw (27 YOA) of Hamilton has been charged with the following offences:

Possession of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine

Fail to Comply Probation

Haw will attend court on June 13 to answer to these charges and the original Fail To Comply Charge.
