Traffic Stop Leads to Seizure of Firearm and CEW
Hamilton Police Officer stops vehicle driven by suspended driver. Investigation revealed the occupants of the vehicle were in possession of loaded firearm and CEW (Taser).They have been arrested and face several firearm charges.
On Monday, February 26, 2018, shortly after 12:30 a.m., police observed a known suspended driver operating a 2006 Ford Escape on Burlington Street East at the entrance to the Nicola Tesla Boulevard. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was placed under arrest for Driving While Under Suspension. Investigation revealed the driver was in possession of a firearm and shortly afterwards police located a CEW (Tazer) in the possession of the passenger.
Charged:
Tyrone Dawkins, 31 years from Brampton
Charges:
- Several gun related offences
- Driving While Under Suspension
- Possesion of Firearm
He appeared in Bail Court on February 26, 2018. He was additionally charged with driving related offences.
The 31-year–old female passenger from Hamilton is scheduled to appear before the courts on March 27, 2018 to answer to weapons charges in relation to the CEW.
