Two Males Struck by a Vehicle While Repairing Their Bike

A vehicle travelling westbound on Barton Street East in Hamilton struck two Hamilton men repairing their bike in the curb lane.

On Sunday April 22, 2018, shortly after 7:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Barton Street, east of Parkdale Avenue North, for a motor vehicle collision that involved two male pedestrians being struck.

A 72-year-old male driver from Hamilton was travelling westbound on Barton Street East approaching Parkdale. The male pedestrians were standing in the curb lane trying to repair a bicycle with a trailer attached. The westbound vehicle struck the pedestrians and came to a stop on Barton Street East.

A 44-year-old Hamilton resident was rushed to hospital with serious injuries from the collision. A 34-year-old Hamilton resident was rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries from the collision. The driver remained uninjured and was cooperative with police.

The investigation is in its early stages. However, impairment has been ruled out.
