Two security guards are attacked by two youths when asked to move along

A concerned citizen witnesses two youth assaulting two security guards on Sherman avenue north and aids police to their whereabouts.

On June 5, 2018, two security guards were working in the area of Sherman Avenue North and Biggar Avenue, Hamilton. Just after 11:00 a.m., the security guards noticed two youths suspiciously loitering by an electrical box near the street. When the youths were asked to move along, security was attacked by the youths and threats of a gun and knife was made towards them. The 49-year-old security fled on foot into live traffic while being chased by the 14-year-old youth holding a scrap piece of wood. The 67-year-old guard came to the aid of his partner and was hit in the head by the wood. The altercation continued between the two security guards and the two youths before the youths were last seen running towards a near-by rail line.

A citizen driving by the street disturbance on Sherman Avenue north followed the youths and assisted police to their location. Police were then able to arrest and charge the youths.

The security guards received minor injuries and declined EMS.
