Two Victims Injured During Surprise Assault in Gage Park

An arrest has been made towards a Hamilton man after two people were randomly assaulted while walking in the area of Gage Park.

On June 5, 2020, shortly before 7:30 a.m., police attended Gage Park at 1000 Main Street East in Hamilton for a disturbance.

When police arrived it appeared a 40-year-old female and an 83-year-old male had been randomly assaulted by an unknown male on a pathway west of the Fountain which continues along the gravel pathway towards Gage Avenue. Both victims were transported to the hospital and their medical status is still being assessed. No weapons were used.

A 43-year-old male was arrested at the scene and remains in custody. Assault-related charges are expected to be laid.

The investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to determine the motive for the assault.
