UPDATE: Hamilton Police Charge Local Man with Several Break and Enter Incidents

On Sunday, June 24, 2018, the Hamilton Police BEAR Unit began investigating a rash of break and enters where cigarettes were being targeted. The suspects were gaining entry into numerous commercial businesses by breaking or prying the front door. Once inside the business, the suspects targeted the cigarette display cabinets and stole large quantities of cigarette packages and cartons.

On Monday, September 10, 2018, Halton Police along with the Hamilton Police BEAR Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in east Hamilton, in relation to those break and enters incidents.

Richard LEBERT (19yrs) of Hamilton was arrested and has been charged with several criminal offences. On Thursday, Spectember 13, 2018, LEBERT attended court to answer to the following charges:

  • Break and Enter x15
  • Disguise with Intent x10
  • Fail to Comply with Adult Probation x16
  • Fail to Comply with Youth Probation x15
  • Fail to Comply with Youth Sentence Order x15
  • Possession of Stolen Property x2
