Hamilton Police Investigate Suspicious Package

At about 10:10am this morning Hamilton Police Service were called to the area of the Walmart Store at 1115 Barton Street East (near Ottawa Street) in relation to a suspicious package near the front of the store.  Staff reported finding the package around 10am and alerted police.

The area was secured and customers along with store employees were removed from the building as a precaution while the matter was investigated. In consideration of the safety of other shoppers in the area of the plaza, some other neighbouring businesses closed their doors during this short time frame.

The investigation was resolved quickly determining that there was no threat to public safety. No one was injured during the incident and nothing was damaged.

At 1:15pm the police had completed the investigation and all store owners in the area were advised they could re-open for business.
