Wanted Party Arrested After Attempt to Evade Police

In the early hours of August 2, 2018, Hamilton Police observed a vehicle speeding on Upper Sherman Avenue and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle fled and was later located after being involved a motor collision. The driver was arrested and appeared in court later in the day.

On Thursday, August 2, 2018, shortly after 4:00 a.m., Hamilton Police observed a white Ford Escape travelling northbound on Upper Sherman South of Fennell Avenue at a high rate of speed. Several attempts were made by police to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle continued onwards. The Escape was located a short time later after it collided with a parked vehicle and a utility pole. The driver was then observed fleeing the scene on foot by police and after a brief foot chase was captured.

George Hasler, 54-years-of-age was identified as the operator of the vehicle. Two outstanding warrants for his arrest were in existence. Further investigation revealed Hasler was in possession of 27 grams of marijuana and crack cocaine. The Ford Escape had also recently been reported as stolen.

Hasler appeared in court on Thursday, August 2, 2018, to answer to the following charges:

  • Possession of a Controlled Drug and Substance – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Controlled Drug and Substance – Marijuana
  • Possession Stolen Property Over $5000.00
  • Dangerous Operation – Flight Form Police
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Drive While Disqualified
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Assault Resist Arrest
  • Fail to Remain

Hasler’s next court date is scheduled for Tuesday, August 14, 2018.
