Hamilton Police Urge Homicide Suspect to Surrender

Hamilton Police continue to actively search for a 17-year-old male from Hamilton, wanted in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred on July 11, 2025, near King Street East and James Street North.

Investigators have executed two search warrants at residences in the City of Hamilton where the male was believed to be. Despite these efforts, the accused remains at large. Hamilton Police will not stop until he is taken into custody.

The 17-year-old male is wanted for:

  • Second Degree Murder
  • Attempted Murder x2

The shooting targeted a group of individuals in the downtown core. While firing at his intended targets, the accused struck and killed 26-year-old Belinda Sarkodie, an innocent bystander.

Hamilton Police are urging the 17-year-old male to obtain legal counsel and surrender to police. As a reminder, anyone who knowingly aids the accused in avoiding arrest may face criminal charges.
