A Hamilton man is facing drug trafficking charges following an arrest at Jackson Square.
On January 30, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Hamilton Police Service officers conducting routine patrols at 2 King Street West observed a man in possession of suspected controlled substances and currency in the food court area of the mall.
As a result of the investigation, police seized approximately 45.59 grams of suspected fentanyl, along with $1,873.85 in Canadian currency, two mobile phones, and drug-related items.
Darrell Mayer, 45, of Hamilton, has been charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000
The accused was arrested, transported to custody, and later released by way of an undertaking.
The Hamilton Police Service continues to conduct visible patrols in the downtown core.
