Event Details:
The Hamilton Police Service will continue to dedicate the entire month of June as "Support Our Troops" Month. This Event is in recognition of the exceptional job being carried out by our soldiers, sailors, and air service members at home and deployed abroad in defense of Canadians and our values. The ceremony includes the raising of the CF Ensign, which will fly as long as we have Canadian soldiers overseas, a tribute to Fallen Comrades, both police and military, and in recognition of our members who also serve in the Reserves and Cadets.

Local military representatives will join the Hamilton Police Services Board members and Police Chief Eric Girt at the ceremony. Several members of Hamilton Police are currently in the military reserves will also be on hand in their military uniforms. In addition to their demanding police duties, these members devote countless hours to their military units in their off time. There are 14 members of the Military Reserve Force presently serving with the Hamilton Police. The Service also has several former reserve and regular force military members now serving our community as civilian and sworn members, as well as a number of decorated Police Retirees.

As part of the day’s Event and following the ceremony, the Hamilton Police Service will be hosting a fundraising barbeque, with all proceeds going to the Canadian Military Family Resource Centre, which is located in London, Ontario. They are a community based, non-profit organization providing information, resources and services to military members, civilian employees and their families.

As in previous years, Hamilton Police vehicles will continue to display the yellow ribbon of support.

All members of the Hamilton Police Service are encouraged and very welcome to attend this Ceremony and "Support Our Troops".

Thank you.
