The Hamilton Police Services Board is seeking to appoint a Deputy Chief of Police, an individual whose leadership will inspire the trust and confidence of the Service and of the community. The Deputy Chief will share a number of service wide responsibilities, supporting the Chief in providing overall leadership.

The Deputy Chief will ensure that HPS’ vision is clearly communicated throughout the organization. Through relationships with all segments of the community, the Deputy Chief will build and maintain a visible and respected profile for the Service.

In today’s challenging environment, the Deputy must work closely with staff, uniform and civilian, as they deal with constantly changing work requirements and task complexity – by creating an environment of trust, openness and innovation. The Deputy Chief serves as a role model for behaviour that is consistent with the principles and values of a professional, ethical and inclusive police service. Success will require a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of all members of the Hamilton community. They must have the skills and confidence to be an effective, contributing member of the executive team and to provide visible leadership across the organization, enabling the Service to move forward with a clear sense of direction.

The successful candidate will bring to the position a respected and distinguished track record of senior level police service, combined with an understanding of modern corporate management and a commitment to support community policing. You excel at operations and have demonstrated administrative leadership through effective community service and engagement programs.
