Student Summer Jobs

The Hamilton Police Service offers summer student employment opportunities for youth aged 15-18 years of age (as of the first Monday in July) through the Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI) Program (which runs for eight weeks July - August), sponsored by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.

Auxiliary Police Constable

The Hamilton Police Service Auxiliary Unit is part of an International Award-Winning Branch of the Hamilton Police Service, and is made up of Civilian Volunteers who assist Police Constables in the course of their duties. As an Auxiliary Member of the Hamilton Police Service (HPS), you will serve in uniform and will be called upon to perform tasks such as community-based crime prevention, traffic control, or patrol duties in community events like parades and fairs, while working towards achieving your professional goals. 

Police Cadet

HPS provides policing to over 520,000 residents in the City of Hamilton. In 2012, HPS responded to over 80,000 calls for assistance from our community. We have over 1,100 employees and our mission is to serve and protect in partnership with our communities. Join us as we work toward making Hamilton the safest place to raise a child.

Below are the steps for applying to our Service if you are an officer serving in Ontario OR with the RCMP, and have completed your probationary period.
