As temperatures rise in the spring so do incidents of break/enters and theft from vehicles across our city.    Often times would be thieves are simply looking for a crime of opportunity or an easy mark.  Taking a few simple steps can decrease your chances of becoming a victim.

The Hamilton Police Service is committed to working with our citizens to keep our communities safe.  Please see the below strategies to protect yourself from becoming a victim of break/enter and thefts from vehicles:

Keep your car doors, house doors and garage doors locked

Remove all valuables from your car

Remove your garage door opener from your car

Do not leave keys in your vehicle

Keep windows rolled up

Keep house windows locked when not home

Call 911 to report any suspicious activity or crimes in progress

The Hamilton Police Service encourage you to report all incidents where your home, vehicle or garage may have been entered even if there are no items taken or the items taken are of little monetary value.  Please call the Police (905)546-5030 to file a report if your home, vehicle or garage has been entered, or contact 911 for crimes in progress.
