Hamilton Police are investigating a stabbing at the downtown Hamilton Mosque earlier today.
At approximately 2:15 p.m., Hamilton Police received reports that several individuals had been stabbed after an altercation at the mosque. The altercation is believed to have started outside the location and continued inside the building. One person was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the other was treated at the scene. A third victim showed up at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two suspects fled the area in an unknown direction. There are conflicting reports whether it was one or two separate vehicles.
At this time, early details suggest the incident was not hate-motivated and the suspects and victims were known to each other. The investigation is ongoing, and police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
