
Hamilton Police continue to investigate the disappearance of Shalini Singh, reported missing on December 10, 2024. The last confirmed contact with her occurred at 7:10 p.m. on December 4.
The case was assigned to the Homicide Unit on December 12. CCTV footage revealed no evidence of Shalini leaving her residence, and investigators began exploring the possibility she may have been removed from the building through the garbage disposal system.
With the cooperation of staff at the Glanbrook Landfill, a search area containing approximately 5,000 cubic metres of waste was identified. The search began on February 24, 2025.
On Wednesday, May 21, partial human remains were located within the targeted area.
Hamilton Police are working closely with the Office of the Coroner, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, and the Centre of Forensic Sciences to examine the remains. DNA testing is underway, and results are pending to assist in confirming identification.
The search continues at the landfill site, and a revised completion date will be determined based on ongoing findings.
Shalini Singh’s family has been made aware of this development and is being supported by our Victim Services Unit.
