Hamilton Police Service has received the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) report regarding the officer-involved shooting that took place on November 9, 2024, which resulted in the death of Erixon Kabera. The SIU has concluded its investigation and determined the force used by officers was reasonable under the circumstances. The full SIU report is available here.
As a Service, we recognize the profound impact this incident has had on Erixon’s family, the broader community and our members.
For now, our Service remains committed to meeting with Erixon’s family and Rwandan community leaders to find a path forward whenever the community is ready.
