Missing Person Investigation Update

Hamilton Police continue to actively investigate the disappearance of 62-year-old John Edwards.

Over the past several days, extensive ground searches have taken place, and a significant amount of surveillance footage has been collected.  Investigators have since transitioned from the physical command post—previously located in the Metro parking lot on Governors Road—to an in-depth review of hours of video surveillance in an effort to trace Mr. Edwards’ movements.

The last confirmed sighting was on Tuesday, June 11 at 10:07 a.m.   Mr. Edwards was captured on video walking westbound on the south side of King Street, approaching Memorial Square in Dundas.

The investigation has been complicated by the presence of a local individual who closely resembles Mr. Edwards and has been captured on video in the area, resulting in several false leads.

John is described as:

  • white male
  • 5'11" height
  • Approx. 214 lbs
  • Shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes.
  • Last seen wearing baggy shorts, a striped, blue T-shirt, white socks, running shoes and maybe a ball cap.

John is known to walk with a slight shuffle and often carries a small, light-coloured ball in his hand.

Hamilton Police are urging residents to continue checking their properties, including sheds, garages, and outbuildings, and to review any home security or doorbell footage from June 11 onward.

Anyone with information is asked to call Hamilton Police Service Missing Person Unit 905-540-8549 or Division 30 Patrol Staff Sergeant at 905-546-3886

Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
