Hamilton Police continue their search for 62-year-old John Edwards, who was reported missing from St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas on June 11, 2025.
Mr. Edwards lives with cognitive impairments similar to dementia, and police are growing increasingly concerned for his safety given the amount of time he has been missing.
Since his disappearance, investigators have actively pursued numerous tips, reviewed potential sightings, and collected surveillance footage from across the region, many of which have been ruled out. The most recent confirmed sighting remains from June 11 shortly after 4:00 p.m. in the area of Milgrove Side Road in Hamilton walking south from Highway 6. Minutes later Mr. Edwards was captured on video walking westbound on Concession 5 West toward Carey Road.
In addition, a tip from Milton placed a man resembling Mr. Edwards walking east along the pipeline between Bennett Boulevard and Thompson Road South around 11:00 a.m. on either Friday, June 20 or Saturday, June 21. Although the exact date is unconfirmed, the time remains consistent.
Despite a thorough door-to-door canvass, no residents have come forward with relevant video or information at this time.
Police are continuing to appeal to the public and businesses as Mr. Edwards' movements appear erratic and unpredictable, with no discernible pattern. He is not carrying a cell phone, money, or any means of identification or tracking, making it difficult to pinpoint his whereabouts without public assistance. At this time, there is nothing to indicate foul play; however, the recent heat wave makes Mr. Edwards’ situation even more urgent and concerning.
Anyone with surveillance or dashcam footage is asked to review the following dates and locations for possible sightings:
- Concession 5 W between Milgrove Side Road and Brock Road, Flamborough on June 11 after 4:00 p.m.
- Pipeline trail between Bennett Blvd and Thompson Rd South, Milton – June 20 or 21 between 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
