Cash and Drugs Seized Following Five-Month Investigation

A five-month investigation by Hamilton Police Central HEAT (High Enforcement Action Team) has resulted in significant drug and cash seizures, following multiple search warrants executed across the city.

On January 27, 2025, a member of the public contacted police to report suspicious activity. The report led to the launch of an investigation, which ultimately resulted in several enforcement actions.

On April 17, 2025, investigators executed a CDSA Section 11 search warrant at a condominium on Charlton Avenue East and a related motor vehicle. The search resulted in the seizure of approximately $11,000 in Canadian currency, 121 grams of cocaine (estimated street value $12,100), 24 grams of fentanyl (estimated street value $4,800 / approximately 2,400 doses), 64 Dilaudid 8mg pills (estimated street value $1,000), 15 Oxycodone 5mg pills (estimated street value $100), two cell phones, and two TD Bank safety deposit box keys.

Further warrants were executed as the investigation progressed. On April 30, 2025, a TD safety deposit box located at 100 King Street West was accessed, resulting in the seizure of approximately $100,000 in Canadian currency. On May 1, 2025, a second safety deposit box at 550 Fennell Avenue East was searched, yielding approximately $80,000 in cash. A court-authorized production order granted on May 12, 2025, identified a third safety deposit box. On May 28, 2025, a final search warrant executed at the same Fennell Avenue East branch led to the recovery of an additional $20,000.

In total, investigators executed four CDSA Section 11 search warrants and one judicial production order. The total amount of cash seized during the investigation is $211,860.00.

Mario Raffaelle Visocchi, a 53-year-old Hamilton man, has been arrested and remains in custody. He is charged with the following offences:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl (CDSA 5(2))
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine (CDSA 5(2))
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin) (CDSA 5(2))
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000

This investigation demonstrates the Hamilton Police Service’s ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking operations and target the proceeds of crime that fuel further criminal activity.
