Two Employees of Long-Term Care Home Arrested for Fraud

On June 24 and 25, 2025 the Hamilton Police Crimes Against Seniors Unit arrested and charged two individuals, a Registered Nurse (RN) and a Personal Support Worker (PSW), who were employed at a long-term care home in Hamilton. The long-term care home and the families of the victims reported these incidents to Hamilton Police and have been co-operating with the investigation.

Romeo Grospe, a 44-year-old male from Hamilton, was employed as a PSW at a long-term care home on the Hamilton Mountain. Between January and October of 2024, he deposited multiple cheques from two residents of the home into his own personal account.

Jerick David, a 32-year-old male from Guelph, was employed as a RN at the same home as Grospe. In February of 2025 he deposited a cheque from a resident into his own personal account. The College of Nurses of Ontario have been informed of the charges against David.

After a lengthy investigation, officers arrested and charged both Grospe and David. They will now go before the courts for the following charges:

Romeo Grospe:

  • Fraud over $5000
  • Possession of Property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Fraud under $5000
  • Possession of Property obtained by crime under $5000

Jerick David:

  • Fraud under $5000
  • Possession of Property obtained by crime under $5000

Both Grospe and David were no longer employed at the long-term care home at the time of their arrests.
