Police Investigate Single Vehicle Collision with Pedestrian

On Sunday June 29th, 2025, shortly after 6:00pm, Hamilton Emergency Services were called to the area of Barton Street East and Balsam Street North, for a report of a pedestrian that had fallen into the curb lane following a disturbance, and collided with an on-coming motor vehicle. 

The 32yr old male pedestrian was transported to hospital with serious, life threatening injuries.  He remains in critical condition. 

The HPS Collision Reconstruction Unit was called in and has taken carriage of the investigation. The affected stretch of Barton Street East (curb lane only between Leinster Ave North and Connaught Ave North) will be closed for the investigation.

At this time, the police are actively seeking any potential witnesses to this incident and urge anyone with information to come forward.  Investigators are also requesting any motorists in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cameras and any residences or businesses in the area with surveillance cameras to review their camera footage.
