Hamilton Police Service is investigating a fatal three-vehicle collision that occurred on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at approximately 9:34 p.m. in the area of Trinity Church Road and Guyatt Road.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a GMC Sierra travelling southbound on Trinity Church Road at a high rate of speed crossed the centre line in an attempt to pass another pickup truck. The Sierra collided head-on with a northbound Honda Civic carrying four occupants. The impact propelled the Civic backward into the path of a northbound Ford Explorer, causing a secondary collision. The Explorer was pushed into the west ditch and came to rest several metres south of the scene.
All four occupants of the Honda Civic sustained injuries. Tragically, a 10-year-old child was pronounced deceased at the hospital. One passenger remains in life-threatening condition, another is in critical condition, and the fourth suffered minor injuries. The three occupants of the GMC Sierra also sustained minor injuries.
Hamilton Police’s Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken over the investigation. Roads in the area were closed for several hours to allow for a thorough examination of the scene.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-546-4753 or provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.crimestoppershamilton.com.
