Hamilton Police have identified the suspect in the brazen daylight shooting that occurred on Friday, July 11, 2025, in the area of King Street East and James Street North.
At approximately 5:25 p.m., a male suspect encountered a group of three individuals in the downtown core who appear to have been the intended targets. The male suspect opened fire, striking one of the individuals. As he continued to shoot at a second person, an innocent bystander—26-year-old Belinda Sarkodie—was fatally struck.
Following the investigation, police have now identified a 17-year-old male suspect. A warrant has been issued for the following charges:
- Second Degree Murder
- Attempted Murder x2
