
Hamilton Police have charged a Hamilton man after seizing multiple controlled substances and a prohibited weapon in the city’s east end.
On July 16, 2025, members of the Hamilton Police HEAT Unit, operating out of the East End Station, observed a motorcycle with an unauthorized licence plate in the area of Ottawa Street North near Centre Mall. Officers detained the rider and conducted a search, which led to the discovery of a prohibited switchblade knife, as well as quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and oxycodone. A quantity of cash was also seized.
The accused, James Tilley, 35, of Hamilton, was arrested and charged with multiple offences. He was transported to Central Custody and his bail was opposed. The accused is charged with the following:
- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
- Possession Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Oxycodone
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000
The following items were recovered during the arrest as part of the ongoing investigation:
- 90 grams of Fentanyl
- 29 grams of Cocaine
- 27 grams of Methamphetamine
- 9 Oxycodone pills
- $182.35 in cash
