At approximately 1:50 a.m. on July 22, 2025, Hamilton Police responded to a shooting in the area of Barton Street East and Fraser Avenue. One individual sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment. The Hamilton Police Shooting Response Team assumed carriage of the investigation.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, on July 25, 2025, investigators arrested and charged two individuals believed to be responsible for the shooting, Donald Zoschke 42, of Hamilton and Jessica Fair, 31, of Hamilton.
Donald Zoschke was in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun and a large amount of methamphetamine and cocaine when he was arrested.
Both individuals have been charged with multiple offences. They were transported to Central Custody and their bail was opposed.
Detectives believe this shooting was a targeted event related to a dispute between the individuals involved.
