UPDATE: Homicide Investigation in Dundas

On Sunday July 27, 2025, shortly after 5:00 p.m., police received 911 calls for shots fired in the area of 77 Governor’s Road in Dundas. Upon arrival officers located the victim, 25-year-old Zachary Shuman of Dundas, unresponsive. Zachary was pronounced deceased shortly after while on scene. A grey Dodge Ram belonging to Zachary was also discovered nearby.  

The Hamilton Police Service extends our deepest condolences to Zachary’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. 

Witnesses observed a blue Ford Edge leaving the scene. The vehicle has not been recovered, and we are asking anyone with information about the vehicle or driver to contact investigators.   

It has also been determined there was a brief interaction between the drivers of the two vehicles at the Metro parking lot in Dundas located at 15 Governor’s Road, prior to the shooting. 

Police believe that there was also a female witness who was in the area when the shooting occurred.  She is described as having shoulder length brown hair and wearing either red or orange shorts. We ask that she please comes forward to speak with investigators.

Police are asking members of the public who were in the area at the time to check their CCTV and dashcam footage between the hours of 4:45 PM to 5:10 PM for anything suspicious.
