On August 1, 2025, at approximately 7:33 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to a report of an assault at a residence on Princess Street. Upon arrival, an individual barricaded themselves inside the home.
As a result of the incident, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate and is now leading the investigation.
There will be an ongoing police presence in the area throughout the weekend as the scene is held in accordance with SIU protocols. Princess Street remains open, but the public may notice an increased police presence.
In accordance with provincial legislation, Hamilton Police are unable to provide further details. Inquiries should be directed to the SIU.
