Hamilton Police Charge Driver in Fatal Collision

Hamilton Police have charged a 24-year-old Hamilton man in connection with a fatal collision on Trinity Church Road in July.

On July 6, 2025, officers responded to a multi-vehicle collision on Trinity Church Road that tragically claimed the lives of a 10-year-old child and her 30-year-old mother. Several occupants of the other vehicles were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Following an extensive investigation, Jesse WOOD, 24, of Hamilton, was arrested on August 13, 2025, after turning himself in to police. His bail has been opposed.

He has been charged with the following offences:

  • Dangerous Operation Causing Death × 2
  • Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm × 4
  • Criminal Negligence Causing Death × 2
  • Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm × 4
  • Over 80 mg/100ml – Cause Death × 2
  • Over 80 mg/100ml – Cause Bodily Harm × 4
  • Operation While Impaired Causing Death × 2
  • Operation While Impaired Causing Bodily Harm × 4
  • Stunt Driving – 40 km/h Over in a Zone Less Than 80 km/h
  • Speeding – 155 km/h in a 60 km/h Zone

Hamilton Police have notified the victims’ families and extend our deepest condolences to all those affected by this tragedy. We would also like to thank the many community members who came forward and assisted in the investigation.

Collisions caused by impaired driving and excessive speed are entirely preventable. These are not accidents — they are the result of choices.
